  1. I really like the game's overall look and epic music, I dunno about you guys, but I've been listening to the cinematic trailer's music for two days. The concept is also very awesome, from what he told in the interviews, it'll be a game about games, and the ending boss is Bob himself, who created the game, so you will literally be playing Bob's game in Bob's game. He said in one of the interviews: Now tell me if that's not awesome. How many games have you played like that? He is also putting a lot of his own thoughts and life experiences in the dialogue, the game is literally part of his life now, he spent so much time on it.
  2. He is getting it published, his main goal was to develop a retail sized commercial game. He says in one of the interviews: That's part of why it is so interesting, most commercial games take dozens of people and hundreds of thousands of dollars to create, this guy wanted to show that he can create a commercial game by himself from scratch. He spent half a decade of his life on it, obviously he wants it to reach as great of an audience as possible.
  3. After a day or two of rumors, it seems like Nintendo has finally announced their next DS. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/54965 Multiple sites have published the rumours, but this is the first article that says for a fact that Nintendo has announced it. I'm not sure of the credibility of shacknews so take this with a grain of salt.
  4. There won't be much RPGing in this game from what I see, it's more of a visual novel than a game of advancing levels and grinding. It is not an RPG, (it may not sound all that different) but an adventure game. If you enjoy books, or story based games, you will feel right at home. I wanted to show you guys part of one of the interviews, I found it very interesting. [hide=] [/hide]
  5. I saw this online and at first I was bewildered. What the ef? What kind of a game is this? Then I watched a vid...and another... read some interviews... Conclusion: I GOT TO HAVE IT. Enjoy: http://www.bobsgame.com/ vZf2E_wBvng KrAYDSTkXgQ The game looks very interesting, certainly a unique one. So tell me, am I alone here?
  6. You have the DS version correct? Assuming you do, go to http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/939337/52598 and look at section II. General Tips and III. Frequently Asked Questions. It should cover your question.
  7. Everything that begins, has got to have an ending. I've been on TIF for about two and a half years, been moderating for almost a year now. Many of you may have noticed my lack of activity as of late... I didn't have internet at home for a good three weeks. Now it is all solved, yet I feel strange. I don't have the kind of interest in TIF that I used to do. When I saw two of my fellow mods Rainy_Day and Woopidoo2 leaving, I wanted to quit Tip.it on the spot. They were some of my best friends on TIF, I can't really find my place now. I hold off for a little while to think it over, but now I feel that the wisest option is retiring. Unfortunately, that means that this Index has to close as well, as I will not have my moderator powers to keep it updated. If another VG mod wants to keep it going or make something similar to it, it's their decision, but I can't guarantee anything. You will have to voice your opinion if you want to have something like this. All of you are amazing people, it's the users that make a forum great. I enjoyed every bit of my posting here on Tif. I will hardly be posting, maybe I will pop in now and then, but I don't know yet. Feel free add me on MSN: [email protected], or PM me if you have any questions as I would be happy to keep in touch with all of you. :) Rock on guys! ;) Abelmisi
  8. Achievement [bleep]! :P Google is might! With exactly 10 seconds spent, I found this: http://www.xboxliving.com/2007/10/20/qu ... -boosting/ [hide=]Quick, easy Gamerscore without boosting October 20th, 2007 | Achievement Unlocked [updated for 2008] Ah, Gamerscore. The whole concept of Achievements is marketing gold, really. Its enough to get anyone with some free time or obsessive-compulsive tendencies renting games or playing longer to earn achievements. Yes, its just a number. No, it wont do much for you. But lets face it, its fun. There are basically two ways to get achievements. Option #1 is to play games and earn them. Option #2 is boosting. Boosting is basically conspiring with friends, using a second controller or doing anything else that allows you to get Achievements without legitimately completing their requirements (at least, their intended requirements). Ive expressed before that Im not a fan of boosting, and Im not going to help you do it. Boosting makes your Gamerscore meaningless and makes you a lying hypocrite if you ever brag about it. Anyone can stand around in Halo 3 blowing up their friends, or beat their unused second controller at a sports game. It takes effort, practice and/or skill to earn achievements legitimately. But of course, some achievements are easier than others. And thats the purpose of this post how to earn some quick Gamerscore without resorting to cheating or boosting. The following list presents some of the games that yield the most Gamerscore for the time you put in: * Amped 3: This game gives you nearly 500 Gamerscore just for playing through the main game, which doesnt take long at all. * TMNT: This game is easy, and gives you the full 1000 Gamerscore just for playing through. * Prey: Over 600 Gamerscore are yours for finishing the single-player game. Very early into this game, you gain immortality, so its quite easy. It may take 5-7 hours to complete, though. The game is OK, so play until you get bored. Youre not likely to get the online achievements anymore. * King Kong: Notorious for being an easy-Gamerscore title. King Kong gives you the full 1000 Gamerscore just for playing. Its a crappy game, though. Your call. * Fight Night: Round 3: Get all 1000 points for punching through the single-player fights. Doesnt take too long but you might need to practice a bit to win. * Lego Star Wars II: This game is quite easy, although earning the entire 1000 will take some time as youll need to replay some levels. Lego Star Wars: The Complete saga is a little harder to earn gamerscore with, since its about twice as long. * X-men 3: A pretty easy game that will get you access to the full 1000 if you complete it and collect items on your way through. Some levels may require a few tries on the hardest mode, which is required to unlock everything. You wont get many achievements in the beginning, though nearly all of the Gamerscore is unlocked towards the end. * NBA 2K6: Very easy the achievements will pile up as you play just a few short games. * NHL 2k6, 2K7: 2K6 only has five achievements, which wont take long to get through. 2K7 is easy enough if you adjust the difficulty in your favor. Dynasty mode achievements can take more time, unless you sim your way through. * NHL 07: Most of the achievements are pretty easy, if you give yourself enough time and practice to pull them off. If you make some good trades you can sim your way through most of the dynasty achievements without playing many games. I find actually playing more fun, though. If you want the 10-year achievement, youll do lots of simulations. * CSI: Hard Evidence: Depending on how quickly you play through this game, it could take 6-10 hours, maybe less. Its a fun game, and a nice change of pace. 1000 Gamerscore is awarded just for getting through it. Put in a decent run with those games and you can get around 7000 Gamerscore without too much effort. Slower, but enjoyable These games will give you a good shot of Gamerscore if you play them through. Theyre not quick but theyre fun enough to keep you playing. * Halo 3: Getting the full 1000 means playing through all the levels on Legendary difficulty, finding a hidden skull in each level and playing some co-op rounds. Youll also need to spend some time earning rankings in multiplayer. Not quick, but very fun. The single-player campaign yields a decent number of points just for playing through on Normal, though. Theres a very good chance you own this game already. * The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Oblivion earns you a full 1000 for completing the major quest-line as well as several side-quests. An additional 250 Gamerscore is yours if you purchase and complete the Shivering Isles expansion. You can adjust the difficulty to make the quests insanely easy if you want, but expect to spend dozens of hours just the same. * Bioshock: Bioshock takes a while to complete, but most of the Gamerscore is earned as you go through. Collecting tape recorders as you go through the levels is important for one achievement otherwise youre stuck going back to look for them. This game is excellent, so you wont mind putting in the time. * Crackdown: It takes a while to get through everything, and many of the time-trial achievements are a challenge, but this is a very fun game. * Viva Pinata: The achievements take a while to get, but theyre easy. If you like this game, though, youll be addicted anyways. * Two Worlds: This game is a lot like Oblivion, although maybe not quite as good. The achievements are easier to get, and will take less time, though. * Battlefield: Bad Company: Out in June 2008, this game is lots of fun and the first bunch of Achievements are fairly easy to get. If youre one to spend hours on Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4, this is one game that wont disappoint and will give you a decent amount of Gamerscore. Bad for Gamerscore Longer games, such as RPGs, will not give quick Gamerscore. Enchanted Arms is a good example this game takes a long time to complete, although it does give the full 1000 Gamerscore for getting through. Unfortunately, its not a great game. Some shooters can require lots of skill or online play to get much Gamerscore. F.E.A.R. and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat are examples of this. Call of Duty 2 put 800 of its points in its Veteran difficulty, which is quite difficult. Call of Duty 3 did a better job of providing more accessible Gamerscore, but completing Vetran difficulty and playing an insane number of online games is required to get the full 1000. The absolute worst game for fast Gamerscore is most likely Final Fantasy XI. To earn all the Gamerscore, you need to level every job in the game up to 75. It can take a couple of months to a couple of years to get your first level 75 job, depending on how much you play. The remaining achievements come from doing long quest lines and difficult battles. Ive been playing FFXI for about three years (although somewhat infrequently), and Ive earned a total of 140 Gamerscore from it. So there you have it a few games you may have missed that will help you get your Gamerscore fix, all without resorting to boosting or glitching (which really destroys your Gamerscore completely). If you have any other Achievement/Gamerscore tips, let us know![/hide] Have fun showing off.
  9. The touch screen does get a little abuse from heavier touch-screen games (Elite Beat Agents, Ninja Gaiden), hence why I use a screen protector. It only costs about 5 bucks, and it keeps your screen as good as new. The Hori ones are the way to go, they're by far the best DS screen protectors http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-DS-Lite- ... 641&sr=8-1 I have this: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-DS-Lite- ... 641&sr=8-2
  10. See the PSP browser in action and decide whether you find it useful or not yourself. As you are going down the good ole' route of a pirate, I recommend just reading a couple of top games list and selecting the ones you're interested in. http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?page ... =top_rated http://www.gamepro.com/article/features ... psp-games/ ... www.google.com

    rules?

Nadril pretty much summed it all up. :) Discussion of modding consoles with the intent of putting homebrew on is fine, but linking to rom sites and advocating piracy is not, such replies will be removed and dealt accordingly. As long as the reason you are discussing custom firmware/ console chipping because you want your console to do more, and not because you want to just play a bunch of games for free, feel free to post. ;) A Twilight Hack thread would be allowed to stay, as long as you posted some actual uses other than loading roms (useful homebrew apps), and would state the possible dangers, and that what you do may possibly brick your Wii/void your warranty.

    PSP vs. NDS

With all the handheld related threads turning a psp-nds fight, I think it's about time we have a thread where we can discuss the handhelds, without being off topic. Which handheld takes the cake? Do you like the PSP or the DS more? Why? Post away, but please stick with the rules and don't let a good discussion turn into a flamewar. ;)

    PSP

Lol, with all the psp and nds discussion threads getting OT and turning into a handheld wars, I'm tempted to open a thread where you can vote your prefered handheld...just so you guys can keep it out of threads like this. :P
  15. Yeah, I'm stuck with using stinky library computers that charge me for net access... :|
  16. Wow those nanos look dumb... New iTouch? WAT? I just bought my 8gigger for 299... I don't see any big differences beyond the built in volume buttons and the speaker though so I shouldn't be too worried. :P
  17. Sorry for the lack of updates guys, the internet went down at home, and it might be a good week or so till I get it back. :(
  18. [NON VIDEO GAME RELATED] Two of my best tip.it friends just left staff and tip.it pretty much alltogether... Rainy_Day and Woopidoo2...Damn this sucks
  19. Meh. Called on the house phone, so my parents are paying for it ;) That's the attitude. I don't call customer support often. The last time I did was to Nintendo, because my DS broke, and I didn't have to wait at all. That brings me to say, I hate when they make you tap out these series of button combinations to reach your desired location. "For ordering press 1...(10 minutes later)...If you wish to hear the menu again, press #!"
  20. That sucks. :P What other systems do you have at hand to pass time? Edit: New page plox?
  21. Haha, I remember that! The girl asked to see a picture of him and paperclips just started posting random images and told her how much he would like to tango wih her... that was wtf bigtime.
  22. It's 18 where I live, but the law is not enforced at all... It's commonplace to see 14-15 year olds drinking, for better or worse.
  23. Thanks kckcdragon for the feedback, updated the threads. Are Nintendo platforms only popular with the youngsters, or does the company have their place with the more mature audience as well? You will have the chance to discuss it in this week's thread, Nintendo, A Console For Children. ;)
