Project Onyx - September 20th, 2007 - New Content!
Skill_Caster replied to Skill_Caster's topic in General Discussion
From what I gather it's going to be a topic with dynamic sigs/etc, nothing new there. Honestly, did you even read the descriptions? Project Onyx was created before you joined (I check the date you registered), which is why you're probably confused. Project Onyx could be compared simply to msn.com. If you go there, you'll notice stock quotes, weather information, current headlines, etc. This is basically what Project Onyx is, except Runescape/Tip.It-related. Project Onyx used to be huge, but since I came back I decided to bring it back. Dynamic signatures? Where did that come from? Our hearts skip a beat at the though of so much bandwidth bills... -

A portal for all your Runescape needs, actually! And we don't release every month, more like every half-week! You can tell if theres a new 'issue' by looking at the build number (1.0.1 = old; 1.0.2 = new; etc.) -

- The Quest for Power Kind of a big issue to cover on our second issue after we're back with v10, but - [message error - repeating later] There are currently no offers posted. To post/remove an offer, PM Skill_Caster. Requests from other sources may not be accepted. Items will be posted on the next OnyxMarket shipping date (Monday, September 24th, 2007). OnyxOutlook will be unavailable for build 1.0.1. - "Deathly Docks" - Part 1 [hide=Deathly Docks - Part 1]The man stood with bated breath, under the Port Sarim docks. His clothes were drenched from the freezing sea water inches below him. He was finally starting to recover from the attacker who nearly killed him the previous day. He was one of Gielinor's most wanted, and now he had nothing to his name, except the torn, uncleaned clothes he wore. He was terrified. He had no runes, nor could he get any from shops. Thieving them from stalls would only rise his bounty. A small plan was forming in his mind, however. He was well hidden under the docks. He could sneak into the carter ship during the dead of the night, right at this very moment, and not get caught. From there, he would stay until the next night as the ship traveled to Catherby. It was his only chance. He got up. His plan was ready to be put into action. He picked up some seaweed that had been washed up, and laid it slowly onto his face. It wasn't fool-proof camouflage, but it was something. After 'picking-up' some left-over food from behind the back of a nearby food store, he walked out onto the docks. The wooden parts of the deck creaked as he walked on them. He boarded the ship. Unable to think of where to hide on the massive ship, he took a few minutes to look around. There was a small storage area, with a few empty crates. He looked around for one that wasn't marked for delivery to Catherby, and climbed in. * * * He was sound-asleep when the violent jerk of the ship woke him up. He hadn't sleep for days, and apparently if he had slept just a few more hours, he would of been on the next Carther to Brimhaven, and it would of been all over. He waiting for a half an hour to let all the crew/passengers get off, and climbed out of the crate. A horrible jolt of pain was sent through his spine, staying crouched in the box for so long had taken a toll on him. The ship was a lot brighter than it had been the previous night. He took a bite of the snack he had packed, and got off the ship. Few people were on the streets, walking home after their day-long fishing excursions. The air smelled very fresh, different aromas of fish, crops, and food mixed together to create an ususual yet satisfying atmosphere. After a few more minutes of waiting, the streets were perfectly clear. No one was in sight. He was walking of the bridge when a terrible pain ripped through his torso. "Don't move, freak. Unless you're planning to die a whole lot faster."[/hide] Two intimidating men stood in front of him. He could instantly tell by their black and red mystic attire that they were magicians, and not the friendly kind. They had taken him by surprise, in his moment of weakness. He knew if he tried to escape he would either be beaten to death with their battlestaves, or burned alive with a fire wave spell. It wouldn't of mattered anyways, because a few seconds after the urge to escape came to mind, an entanglement charm was cast upon him. One of the two came forward very next to man in the tattered robes. The man screamed unlike any scream had been heard before. The blood spell lifted the blood right out of his very body and up into the night sky. It floated to the tip of the man's battle staff, and appeared to be absorbed by the mage. There was nothing he could do, except stand there and die. He couldn't move, he couldn't fight back. He could only scream. Darkness filled up the man's view like liquid being poured into a cup. He fell back onto the dock, dead. * * * Or so it had seemed. Slowly, the man got up. It was still night, perhaps an hour after the attack. He was well aware he probably only had an ounce of blood left in his body, it was quite a miracle he wasn't dead. He suddenly became aware of his surroundings. He was in some sort of underground lab, noticeable by the silver contraptions and cool climate. He felt the after-effects of a teleother spell on him. Why had the men taken him here? Hadn't they thought he was dead? His question was soon answered. On a nearby table, a few inches from the center of the tile floor he was standing on, was some research. He slowly crawled over and began to read one of the papers. The element of moonlight is found in few people and can only be inherited at birth. It holds great power, and is contained in the person's blood stream. He gasped. Was he one of the few? It didn't make sense. He was a no-body. A low-life. No one cared about him. He didn't even have a real name. But then why did they take him here? Why did they take his blood? Thousands of questions swarmed viciously around his head, demanding answers. He read on. It is said that those possessing the element in their blood stream are to be immortal. This is due to the heart self-producing more moonlight even in its moment of inactivity. That had explained why he had lived. No one had ever survived an attack like that before. Moonlight is one of the most desired elements of men due to its power. Many of men have killed thousands to get there hands on the essence. That explained why he was here. It is said once those who have the essence of moonlight in their blood can render certain forces of magic useless, giving them invincibility. A great gif- He took a strike to the head from a hard staff and fell cold onto the tile floor. Another man, seeming to sport the same wizardly attire came in and apparently spotted him. "Still alive are you?", the man grunted. He picked up a nearby contraption that looked like it was made of brass. He pressed down on a small switch and the cogs inside the box began to spin. He held the cube to his mouth and spoke. "He is alive. I repeat. He is alive. Bring all troops in. This time he will die for sure." He switched the lever again and the cogs slowed to a stop. -
Skill Caster - The Legend Comes To An End...
Skill_Caster replied to Skill_Caster's topic in General Discussion
That's the point, I have no time to mess around with skills, therefore I am moving to that game which is based upon socialization to keep in contact with the many friends I have made here. -
This is goodbye, everyone. I am announcing my retirement from Runescape and Tip.It. You never really can imagine the feeling until your time comes, it seems. You believe when you see all these kinds of posts, of all the unknown people leaving, you never think it will happen you to...but it does... For those who do not know me, I've been a very popular and active member on Tip.It. I was the starter of Project Onyx and the OnyxTimes, two related projects which were the first and most powerful player-made newspaper/portals on Tip.It. Despite from what you may think, they have both had their time in the lime light. I've had many people PM me in the game requesting I take it to a new level with an actual site. I've also been very popular with my blogs, with such names as 'The Legend Continues' written in literature form. Hence, now the last page is being turned and the legend is ending. I would like to give my most sincere thanks and affection to Brandon (Nice_Badger), and Heather (Altra/Wherzwaldo1). These two friends have treated me just the same as if they knew me in real life. They're both amazing, and I can't thank you enough. I would really wish to keep the lines open with you even though I'm leaving. This also goes out to the countless hundreds of people I've meet on Tip.It. This is it, everyone. The legend is finally coming to an end. I never thought I'd be making this post. As for Project Onyx, I tried to post a v2 and continue to run it in my spare time, but after 5 minutes of an unsuccessful load, I think it's just a sign I should leave what is dead rest. I may come back and launch the version later, but it seems no one really cares anymore. Those who would like to still contact me may reach me on Gaia Online [skill-Casted]. The 3 years I've spent on Runescape and Tip.It have not been wasted. It has, in a way, prepared me for life after and I've made countless friends here. It's been more fun than I can express in words. Thanks for the ride. -Skill Caster EDIT: From some odd reason, even after closing the window, it appears my OnyxTimes post has somehow got stuck in the queue and posted anyways. I suppose we'll see what happens with it.

PO's new purpose failed, I decided to just let PO rest in peace and resurret what started it all and what works best. :boohoo: Yep, just like last time, anyone can submit an article and I'll post it in the next issue. :D Now, tell me, COULD YOU actually make the images on MSPAINT (like I did), spend about an hour on Macromedia Fireworks Pro 8, remove the white edges so that it's compatable with EVERY SINGLE STYLE Tip.It Forums, then create another version for each Table Of Contents entry? Because I did all of that. Hmm...3/4 good replies isn't such as bad :P

Saturday, August 18th, 2007 | "This week's Runescape week in review." | Issue 1, Volume 2 We're back. Beautiful graphics. Organized layout. Same old top-quality. Welcome to the OnyxTimes. Table Of Contents - Here you can get the latest and hottest news on what's up in Gielinor. - Escape boredom by reading these weekly series and other tales while skilling. - Find out interesting (and legal) tips and tricks and help speed up your daily tasks. - Find out where this week's hottest spot to train is with your host, Nice_Badger! - You might find that one herb you were always looking for in a casual bank-sale. - Ask the editors (almost) anything! - See what's new and hot this week under the 'spotlight'. [Coming Soon!] ___________________________________________________________ Doing What We Do Best! - by Skill_Caster Hello everyone! Thought we had been hit by a torpedo and sunk to the bottom of page 12, eh? (Actually, I'm not really sure myself, I just used the bookmark to find the old version.) Well, seeing as Project Onyx, unfortunately, died, we decided to come back and do what we did first and best. Delivering top-quality news and entertainment, in a neatly organized form, and, now, with hawt fresh graphics 8-) . Just like the good ol' days (two months ago) we have this column, the all-around famous Main Article section! Here you can find out the latest big scoop on Gielinor. And, despite the fact we only release a new article on Saturdays, we will update the Main Article section the day a new update comes out. Next, we have the 'Stories and Tales' column! Like it's predecessor from the old version, it will host a nice story or two to keep you entertained while skilling (just make sure you don't get beaten the crap out of by a fish troll ;). We're not liable for that). However, now we will post series, to keep you on the edge of your desk chairs as the story unfolds each week. And, as always, readers, feel free to submit your series/stories! The next column is completely new, called 'Research'. Here we investigate interesting little tidbits (such as hidden updates, or the 'shadow sword' event, etc.) that were added into the game! Now Jagex can get some credit for that tiny little pixel that got fixed (although we try to make it a little more interesting than that ;)). 'The Training Zone' is another column rescued from the page 12 crash of the old OnyxTimes, and it is run by Brandon. Here you can find out the hottest place to train your combat! (Gotta keep up with current trends, right?!) Simply, the classifieds are classifieds, places users can post notices and quick sales. My favorite new one! The editorials section is a really hilarious section where you submit your insane questions about Runescape and then receive a rather interesting answer when it's published. Who said the Tip.It community is always sane? That's all folks. Enjoy. Tip your web browser. We'll be here each week. The Narrow Escape - Part 1/3 - by Skill_Caster Panic, fear, and insanity came to me bundled with the fact that I'm going to die. Even though I was a newbie, I knew traveling this deep into the Taverly Dungeon was a terrible mistake. Slumped against a wall I lay, poisoned by a Poison Scorpion, just waiting for my death. I understood there were only moments now. I slowly drank cup of tea I had took from a table on my way to the entrance. I felt every ounce of the poison filling my body, slowly beginning to cover every inch inside of me. Suddenly, a rather rich-looking man walked up to me and after a moment, handed me a strange vial of glowing green liquid. "Drink it, it will cure your poison," he said in an unusually deep voice. I did as I was told, whether it was actually a cure or a deadly potion I did not care. Surprisingly, the moment after I drank the potion I felt remarkably better. The man was armed with a dragon dagger, vicious-looking poison dripping from its point. He wore black robes and a hood that covered his face. For a moment I thought he was Death. "Come with me. I am taking you to accompany my mission. Do not ask questions. Do not do anything. Or else I will have to kill you." Obediently, I stood up, said nothing, and began to follow him. Welcome to the lab! - by Skill_Caster Since we don't really have an article this week (since this is a first issue and new columns don't start until Issue 2), we decided to toss one up to keep you on this section. The sandwich lady. Apparently, she was fired from a cafe at the age of 24 when one of her famous baguettes was cooked rare, not medium-rare. She whacked her boss and dragged him all the way to behind Lumbridge castle. So, what's really in those ordinary looking sandwichs? We decided to see just what i-ooo, really, just for me? A bread roll, you say? Hey, that's shaped like one- [Article Pending] - by Nice_Badger Currently the article for this week has not been printed yet, however will arrive shortly. Thank you for your patience. Classifieds - Week of 8/19/07 [sALE] Chinchompas (Normal) - 200gp each - PM me to preorder, I currently have 300 in stock. Red chinchompas I will post shortly. [NOTICE] - OnyxTimes is back up :D To post or remove a sale/notice, PM Skill_Caster. Editorials - Week 1 - by Skill_Caster We need as many questions as we can get! Feel free to PM your random insanity to Skill_Caster and look for them in next week's issue. Why is Runescape's sky black? Well, you see, during the 3rd age war, many dark wizards were secretly experimenting without worry of being caught. They had finally created a vial of atomic super 1337 owning pwnage power, except when they tested it, they found it was EXTREMLY powerful. This is infact how all of the gods died. The wizard's dark robes were dry clean only, and when the liquid and bundled powerful impact hit them, they expanded and flew up into the sky. The stars you see at night are actually those wizards still on fire, trapped in 99999,999,99999999,9,9,9 meters of black fabric... Thank you for reading this week's issue of the OnyxTimes. Have a nice day :)

To buy a rare, or not to buy a rare.
Skill_Caster replied to Skill_Caster's topic in Help and Advice
That's some good advice, and I hate to bump one of my old help/advice questions, but I'm going to get 33m, I want to have a little bit left over, however, I'm not sure what one to get. I'm not going to sell it short-term, I'm planning to have it quite a while. -
He's online all the time on my friends list...I recharged his combat bracelet for him a few days ago.

I wondered how Fluffs (Gertrude's cat) gave away like 200 kittens each day on each members server...
