No, but it would mean that you would build stations which could build at that rate. For example you would not open a shop selling 500 meter long tapestries if your production capacity was 1 old lady with some knitting needles. The stations are designed to be the focal point of the whole planet's industrial might. Like Kent is the focal point of the whole of the Systems industrial might. The entire Tefarn system is going to production, and it always has. The only reason I colonized was to make a ship production juggernaut system. My point was though that if I wanted to build a huge ship, it wouldn't mean I automatically have huge manufacturing capacities. Not really...For instance to build a machine, or rather the pieces for a machine, takes much less time and effort than if you tried to make a machine from scratch... Anyway current output is 50K per turn. That's ridiculous. The current production of everyone else combined is probably less than 50k. 50k per turn is 25 ultra battleships. Yes... that makes perfect sense. I see now how me having the resources, the manpower and the time would lead to me not producing anything. Look. Quark Fusion kicks out massive amounts of Strange Matter in accordance with the laws of Thermodynamics. This strange matter is harnessed and turned into something useful, Strange Tantalum in molds. So producing things made from Strange Tantalum is relatively straight forwards. Again, you're missing my point. Piling billions of tons of resources won't make something go faster past a certain point. A worker wouldn't be able to nail one board to another any faster if he had a thousand more boards behind him than if he had none. I have just over 12 million people working on the 20 stations. Given that they are doing relatively little else, except building homes and such, which should be largely finished by now, (I think that 105,120,000,000 man hours(52,560,000,000 with sleep, eating and ect) is enough to build 20 stations) The 40m people or so in the Tefarn system all are doing something related to ship production. We need to all follow the same guidelines for production here, that's the entire point of the PP system. No...Your stations produce 200 per year. Mine produce a decent amount(3K per year). They are tooled to produce 1 type of ship and 2 types of lasers... They are focal points for the entire planet's output. Kent is a focal point for the entire systems output. 200 per year is already a bit excessive, in my opinion. But the entire point of the PP system is so that we are all following the same guidelines, so that way people's ship production is reasonable, and not just randomly made up. You can't just make each of your stations worth 15 times more than everyone else's. The basis of the point system is: Station=200 points/year New station=4000 points to build. With a few exceptions (ie: Kent could be worth more, but not by an outrageous amount) Here's what matters to me: What is each Caravel really worth? Right now, by putting them at 50k each, that's saying they are equal to 25 ultra battleships in combat.

So? If I had a ship that cost 100k it doesn't mean I should have huge production capabilities. In order to get up to the point where you'd get that much you'd probably need to sacrifice more than that. Where is that 200k coming from anyway? What's your current points per turn? And? Thousands of millions of tons of resources won't get it done much faster. So? Mine is over 4 as well. Dusty's is over like 14. Tefarn is key to my long term plans. 3k over what time period? Even if it was over 12 years that's still too much, each standard station produces 200 per year.
-
So how much PP are you getting per turn? I think you might be pushing it a bit much, seeing as in 6 years (8-14) you gained 130k pp. That's way too much for what you have, or will have. That's over 20k a turn, and people who have been building production stations and the like for over 50 years are below 10k. Dusty's ships will arrive in Centauri tomorrow, and will evacuate the remainder of the population. The ships heading from Tefarn to Centauri are rerouted to Sol, in case an evacuation is needed.
-
310 transports are on the way from Tefarn. Cargo ship carrying 450kg of Duna is heading from Yale to Tefarn. 221 fully loaded transports heading from Centauri to Tefarn. Fleet Two is filled with refugees from Centauri aswell, heading back to Tefarn. Fleet 3 will stay and guard centauri, atleast for now. 80m People on Alpha Centauri at this point.

I thought it was implied that over down time, the game is placed on hold? I figure this because while certain things can be done (like production, research and collection). But other things can not be done, like response and counters to other's actions. Example: You send a battleship to my homeworld. Before I have a chance to say anything, the forum dies. The forum is rendered useless for lets say, 3 days. In these three days, that battleship could actually arrive in my homeworld. But had the forums been open, I could have prepared a defence, and released a counter attack. This gives an unfair advantage to explanatory moves or "variables" while completely eliminating the response move or "variable". And this is why the game should pause when the forum goes down. We'll just say for sake of ease for everyone ships on course advance 2 days, production goes for 2 more days, and all that, and since no acts of war happened we don't have any problems. Plus pauses mess up the game's date. Cuz right now, I remember when the game started, and can figure out the year from that.

Depends. I should have a coupla years atleast before they get to alpha centauri. That's almost a half ton of the stuff, so I can put that in a decent amount of ships to super-speed them. Here's my plan for the next two years: This year, 216 massive transports and nothing else. Next year, one mega transport and nothing else. After that, we'll see. Oh, and my Deep Space Research Station is now producing massive sheets of nanotubes, similar to those used in the dyson sphere, only on a slightly larger scale per statite.
-
Why do we even bother with physics to that extent? This game would be much more fun if we'd just ignore something like that. It's irrelevant anyway.

Also, the fleet has around the mass of ten earths. I'm fairly sure anything they went near would get [bleep]ed up. EDIT: My fleet probably has a mass of around 32,000,000 Tons.
-
Where do you find the time to do such math? All I had to do is 1 AU * 4/3*π*radius^3 for the volume. Then I found the density of earth, (5.5 g/cm^3) and converted that to grams per km^3 (550,000 grams per km^3), then that to tons per km^3 (0.55 tonnes per) then multiplied that by the volume. Come to think of it, my math was probably off a bit. I think the real mass of the fleet would be around: 680,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Tonnes. Not a big difference really. EDIT: With the higher density it's about 3 times more. But still.
-
So, judging on what you've said before. Their fleet would have a volume of around... 10,250,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 km^3 If it's similar density to the earth we have a fleet with a mass of 5,655,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 metric tons. I don't think 3 space stations will stop that. Archi, can you assign a point value to the enemy fleet?

Erm, in other news. All land factories on Alpha Centauri and all space platforms are building transports. We should be building about 10 a year. There are currently 200 transports in alpha centauri, all civilians are being loaded up. That accounts for roughly 1/2 of the population. 100 more transports are being flown in from Tefarn, and next year's production will produce transports.

It is december 1st...

Unrelated to aliens: The surface is now being repopulated at a rate of around 6m per year. Habitats will be evacuated within 40 years or so. Project ANDY is also getting use of all military factories, almost.
-
Alot, especially if you don't have the facilities to produce them effectively, since you've been peaceful for a while. I would recommend purchasing some from an ally perhaps.
-
Not disputing that you got that, but shouldn't you be rolling 1-114 not 1-103? http://www.bpc.edu/mathscience/chemistry/images/periodic_table_of_elements.jpg EDIT: Project Trawler started (due for completion 12/30/09) Project Hellfire started (due for completion 12/25/09) Project Wolf officially announced (ongoing, with checkpoints 12/15 and 1/1/10)

Well considering you're planning on eating entire planets that's still 27155454500000000000 tons per planet around the size of earth. I haven't totally decided how we're gonna manage those. For now, either get the new material or produce small amounts (a few hundred tons). Or, you can pretend you never had those and get a research worth 10-15 years of research time (of your choice, but be reasonable with it)
-
Ok, since no one else seems to be commenting, THERE IS A HOSTILE ALIEN FLEET HEADED TOWARDS THE SYSTEM WITH ONE OF THE NEW MATERIAL PLANETS. (Set, I forget who colonized it). Is anyone gonna do anything?
-
Overkill much? There are big [wagon] dinosaurs (or alien equivalent) that like eating people. Not really.

Downtime was spent producing dreadnoughts. Now production on stations will be starting, two and a half a year, or 5 every 2 years. Also producing 260 fighters a year in addition to those. During the downtime my ships reached planet Yare, and have set up a base of operations near the mining zone. Tanks are on the ground to protect against the local fauna. We are now gaining 400kg of the new material (which will now be named Duna.) annually. The 400k we have already mined is going to be put into the warp drives of my 5 capital ships, and then 1 massive cargo ship to transport the material to the tefarn system., and 100kg is left over. So, if anyone forgot that means that for those 5 capital ships at max speed they can go twice as fast in warp, and take only .5 years to speed up, and .5 to slow down. However they can still go slower in warp drive, in order to stay with their fleet. I'm now gonna explain the organization of my fleet. Any ships with modified warp drives will have a (d) next to them. Here's the meaning of each ship for me: Sa Matra. It's my flagship, and the most powerful ship in the known universe. It's equipped with two highly advanced modified planet busters, as well as a few thousand anti-material missiles. It also has an armament of 5 standard planet busters, fusion nukes, railguns, directed plasma cannons, cold fusion generators, anti projectile laser defenses, rapid fire laser cannons, plasma "shields" (More advanced than mathers, but not invincible. They slow down railguns enough to make them mostly ineffective, and have a small chance of detonating missiles prematurely). Also holds 5,000 fighters. Dreadnought. Each is a capital ship, roughly half the power of the Sa Matra. They have the exact same stats except slightly weaker armor, and no advanced planet busters or anti-matter missiles. Ultra Battleship. 1/5th the size of a Dreadnought, but still very formidable. Similar armament, can only hold 1000 fighters, no planet busters. Super Battleships. Same thing, only half the size and 500 fighters max. Heavy Battleships: About 1/10th the size of Super, they lack any large number of fusion nukes (though they each hold a few), and their plasma cannons are weaker due to their size. Can only hold 50 fighters at max. Battleships: About 1/10th of a Heavy. No Fusion nukes, and weak Plasma Cannons. Escort: Half the size of a battleship. No Plasma Cannons or shields. A Escort is around 1/4000th of a sa matra. Fighter: Around the size of a jet. Hold micro-fusion missiles, armor piercing railguns and the like. Some are instead equipped with plasma cannons. [hide=fleet stuff] First Fleet: Currently in the Tefarn system. 1 Sa Matra (d) 4 Dreadnoughts (d) 25 Ultra Battleships 10 Super Battleships 50 Heavy Battleships 100 Battleships 25,000 Fighters 150 Escorts Second Fleet: Currently in Alpha Centauri 50 Escorts 3 Ultra Heavy 6 Super Heavy 17 Heavy Battleships 50 Battleships 5000 Fighters Third Fleet: Currently in Alpha Centauri 50 Escorts 3 Ultra Heavy 6 Super Heavy 17 Heavy Battleships 5 Battleships 5000 Fighters Fourth Fleet: Currently in Yena 50 Escorts 3 Ultra Heavy 7 Super Heavy 18 Heavy Battleships 51 Battleships 4720 Fighters [/hide] Mather, our atmosphere does essentially the same thing as a plasma window. Doesn't mean it's anywhere near impenetrable.

Archi, I'm moving to colonize the planet Yare, in Yeta, in case you missed it. I dunno if that affects the current influence thing though.
-
Yeah, though next time I guess I should pm you the stuff for astrosynthesis before posting it on the thread.
-
Doom's co-ordinates for the new systems didn't match up with the map she made. I used her co-ordinance because PMs overrule posts on here. I figured out what I messed up. On the map I didn't have them the perfect distance from earth, so when I gave you the distance from alpha centauri it came out different.
-
Grim's png doesn't show ownership. The one you can't spell is Dusty's main system.
-
Penguin's spot would be pretty good for Archi. I'd just leave his dot on the map and change the map key to say that the green represents Archi. The old Russian space station is being converted into a second defence station. The old Japanese station will become a first-class hotel. That's a very good idea actually. I'll have to reduce his land size though, although not by too much. @Doom, how big is a Dreadnaught exactly? (in other words, what is it?) It's a unique Brazilian ship. It's pretty much 5 times larger than an Ultra, and takes forever to build. I was only planning on building two, the second will be completed tomorrow. They're my flagships, pretty much.
-
Starting this turn, all production stations are building more production stations, just as soon as the second Dreadnought is finished.
