I'd say the ability to turn tons of useless materials into anything you want instantly with no ill effects, no need for mining, and no need for any significant research time takes all the fun out of the game. This isn't regulating the entire game, it's making it more interesting.
-
Well I don't mind ignoring your opinion too much, so it all works out.
-
Oh, I don't mind that. I just don't like how we're having things like production stations that require no building materials for ships, ships that could regenerate enough of any material to rebuild themselves completely, and so on. I like the idea of mining uninhabitable planets and asteroids too. I don't know how we can get it to work in this game, but I think the key to making everything remaining interesting is not having enough resources to do everything that we want. Oh, and I just pmed you an idea I had sere. EDIT: Here's what I sent sere. I'd like everyone's opinion on this. This is how I'm thinking it would work. At most, one of the X planets we pick to have this material can only produce 200kg a year. Then we have guideline on what costs what. Like maybe 200kg would allow you to make 200 tons of another element out of another. Or 10 kg would improve a single ship's warp generators so the speeding up/slowing down time is cut in half (Make traveling around our local area take basically 1 year per jump). Stuff like that.
-
What? No. I've been artificially producing diamonds and the like for decades. I wouldn't ban alchemy, as long as it's balanced/not in ridiculous amounts. I'm talking more about things that would replace the need for mining in general.
-
I have cold fusion. I can put out many times more power than you, if I wanted to use alchemy I would. Actually this reminds me. I've been thinking, and I think some things like matter compilers, and things that make elements from others (atleast in mass amounts) kind of ruin the game. Look at any science fiction galactic society, pretty much. It would be really boring if they all could make resources appear out of nothing practically. Or, if we keep them we need to make heavy rules on them. I think we should make it that if they're allowed at all, they can only create certain types of metals, like iron. Otherwise everything loses all value, the strategic value of owning more planets than you absolutely need goes down to practically 0, and so on. I can explain my opinion more if anyone wants. Also, people who invested time/money in matter compilers would be compensated with a research of equal value of their choice if we decide to restrict them.
-
It all just depends, really. It would take a massive flooding of the market in order to really damage the inter-solar market, but that can be negated through quotas. There is a massive demand for gold, after all, and gold isn't the only metal that can be transmuted. Even if the market was to somehow crash, it shouldn't screw me over too badly. It creates jobs for people and still supplies my planets with the necessary amount of gold, and it saves us from having to rape the environment in order to obtain said gold. There is no necessary amount of gold. It's sort of like aluminum, it used to be ridiculously valuable, worn as jewelry, and so on. Then there was a huge surplus of it, and look what aluminum is worth now. Though aluminum is way more useful than gold, I would say.

Maybe he deserves nothing but pain and anguish; I certainly don't want to be the one to determine that, nor do I believe I have the capacity to make it. However, do you know what I know for a fact that he deserves? A fair trial. Who knows, there's always that microscopic chance he's innocent.
-
I just realized something; that's a terrible idea. All it does is horribly devalue gold. It won't make him any money, anyways.
-
Actually gold would be extremely expensive right now, and Sere would not have much. Since I've been stockpiling all the gold I mine for the past 100 years or so, and I controlled the biggest gold producing areas in the world. I guess that is just for Earth, but still.

I am quite sure you are overestimating the general population. The requirements for the US army for the 1.6K (1 mile) is 9 minutes for guys for Class C, 8 minutes for Class B, 6 minutes for Class A (only a select few are able to reach that level). Also, I know I can run slower for longer distances, but I am trying to optimize improvement vs time. I do not have 60 minutes per day to go running 10 miles. Also, 60 minutes of running burns too much calories (in my case, I am at 5.7% body fat already...) Select few? You americans must be pretty damn fat. And it does not burn too many calories. If you want to step up your workout, you NEED to ingest enough calories. The only time you should have a deficient is when you are trying to lose weight. This thread is oscar. Verify your sources before replying. http://www.arselsl.qc.ca/documents/sports/SECONDAIRE/cross/RESULTATS_2009/Juvenile_M_rang.pdf These are the results for 16 year olds 6 km (schools send their best 10-15 runners), only 19 runners do under 25 min for it... and the first guy is sponsored by Adidas (does the company sponsor random people?) 20:53 for 6000m = 4.79m/s. 1600/4.79= 5min 34 seconds, that doesn't even get the 5 min per mile... And yes, I said consume carbohydrates... carbs = calories. Whoops, that was a typo. I meant 95-99 CAN'T run a 5 min mile.

I'd imagine it's possible, but it's kind of awkward when your date is trying to put their head on your shoulder but you have to like lean over and their back is hurting being pushed against some plastic thing etc. Worst thing is when you're in a movie theatre, and the friggin arm rest doesn't go up.
-
Oh, it occurs to me. I think I'm the only one to have kept my country's name intact. Well, I guess it's the Brazilian Empire technically instead of just Brazil, but still.

You forgot one: Hex: I badly paraphrase people, insult others, and then accuse them of flaming. Also, That's funny, in 2009 it seems like 80% of the world believes everything is god's magic. The problem is, we only have what we know, and simply advancing randomly doesn't make sense. There might be invincible unicorns living under southern Mexico, but it doesn't mean we should put them into the game just because they might exist, and we haven't discovered them yet. And Archi, the system I use is that one Station is worth 10,000 production points. But that's being built in space, so it's easier. I don't know if this'll help at all. In otherwords, it would take 1 production station with no bonuses 50 years to create another one.
-
Hey, I joined like 2 hours after you. I think we should just ban creating new elements, or overpowered materials. It's sorta stupid, to be honest.

500 billion a year is now being diverted to increasing the size, and defensive capabilities of my Research Station Superstructure. We are also putting civilian infrastructure in it, so a large # of people can live there. Here's my budget right now: Total (earth) 2.6 trillion. 500 billion to what I just said (2.1 left) 400 billion to improving habitats (1.7 left) 500 billion to Navy (1.2 left) 1 trillion to space production (.2 left) .2 to various research projects (0 left)

It's a system I made up. Each production station gives 200 points/year. I believe i have the most, with 14 around earth, 4 (?) in Alpha Centauri, and 24 or in my furthest system. This is where all my money (practically) has been going for 40 yeas. Mining/Harvester ships are worth 10 Transports (hold 100,000) are worth 10 Massive Transports (hold 400,000 but are armored way more than transports) are worth 50 Fighters are worth 1 Escorts are worth 5 Battleships are worth 10 Heavy Battleships are worth 100 Super Battleships are worth 1000 Ultra Heavy Battleships are worth 2000 Flagships are generally worth 10,000 Unique ships vary in cost.
-
My Earth fleet has arrived in my system 473 LY away. Stations are all set up from the production ships, and the 500 harvester/mining ships are being deployed currently. This is just for my reference, I have 25 920 production points to spend. Then, once all the mining and production things are set up, I will be getting 6 480 per turn. Production is all going into ultra battleships. On Earth, I have 30 240 points to spend. Those are all going into producing super battleships and massive transports, so I have 20 super battleships built and 205 massive transports built.. Starting this turn, those battleships will be packing up all of those production stations (14) and bringing them to my other system. That will be done in 8 years. The massive transports will remain in orbit around earth.

Have to ask Doom for that. I can keep my maps up to date and post them, but Doom still retains sovereign right to edit her posts....I am here as a player, not a moderator. I would like to point out that having more than 1 planet is not a bad thing...I have 3 planets and because they are heavily defended I am in a much more powerful position than most 20 year old empires. =P I give you permission to edit the systems list on the first post if I'm not around, or something. Oh, and if people want me to update the first post the easiest way is to do the following. Edit whatever planets you own into the following list. Then, post or pm any systems that you changed (So if you only changed one system, don't pm me the whole list) . This'll make it easier for me. Do not just copy and paste the list from the first page, as that gets rid of the format it's in, with font changes and the like. Copy and past from : [hide=list with formatting] [hide=Planet/System List:] Parentheses after a planet signifies ownership. So, Vatan (Sob) would mean the planet Vatan is controlled by the Sob empire. Parentheses after a star signifies the stars color/type. Multiple types mean there is more than one star in the system. Now, heres the list. Try round-off back tucks. You get a lot more power if you can control it. You make a good point though. There's a girl at the gymnasium who I work out with who hates me because she's been doing gymastics for ten years and can't (read: won't but def can) back tuck, while I just started last year and have the highest standing tuck at the gym. It really is unfair that ya'll have boobs and big hips, and makes movement so much harder. I just looked up some videos of that, I don't think I'd be able to do that quite yet. Still, I'd say 80% of doing any gymnastic like a back tuck is psychological, so if I can get past that it might be a lot easier.
-
That's ballsy. It's harder for girls to back tuck because woman have more mass away from their center of gravity. That's probably why I messed up. All the instructional videos were made by guys.

Oh, by the way Dusty, can I get all the islands off of Alaska back? Since you bought them off of sere, who had just taken them from me a turn or so ago.
-
On a trampoline or on the ground? Ground. But with a mat, so it was a bit safer.
-
Yeah, I forgot about responding to you before RPG. You can have all the land taken from you back. We'll also help you rebuild for now.
