  1. Funny you should mention them. During Jagex's recruitment drive for Pmods (their team became smaller over the years) they asked in the application "What type of player are you?" and listed: skiller, pker, troll. Apparently, Jagex is recruiting trollers into their player moderator team. I've also heard from a player mod that Jagex recently recruited a well-known German scammer into their team. -.- In my opinion, most other mods that aren't rule-breakers act too much like tools. They will happily mute players over the smallest offence, which is ridiculous for them to be so extreme at times. In some cases, I feel uncomfortable when playing around them because of how seriously they take things. When they act like normal players, they're fine; if they act like pompous douchebags that have nothing better to do, then there's a problem.
  2. I think that's fairly reasonable. It's better than saying that he was fully obliterated in the assault. It wasn't a major loss for him anyway.
  3. You only se them as a problem because you cannot afford to do it - anyone that can afford to do it does it, it's just hard luck I'm afraid Not everyone with the money does it. The major problem with them is the fact that they are dishonest to their members. The leaders dump early, thus flooding the market and profiting at the same time. By the time they order the rest to dump, it's already too late and by the time they sell, they were probably better off before. There are also manipulation clans that lie about item nerfs just to cause them to crash (happened to dragon claws). If you go to world 2, there's literally dozens of people spamming manipulation clan chats. It's an annoyance as you can't add all of them to your ignore list as it's almost impossible to see who's advertising in your chat box. Could you give an example? None of the quests I've done have been badly scripted. The humour is basic, but that is deliberate - it's laughing at itself. I think he's referring to the fact that major storylines (especially the elf series and the lack of Jagex releasing content that is already supposed to exist in the story of Runescape ----> Eastern Lands, Prifdinnas) that are left unfinished and have not had any hint of a future update in years. EDIT: Can a mod please merge this post with my one above it? Thanks. Merged. ~Laura0077
  4. I don't. There's bound to be a lot of exaggeration on this thread anyway. A lot of people aren't as familiar with the GDP and how realistic an outcome from a skirmish would turn out. To be honest, I would probably just let him be as long as he promises to stay true to the withdrawal. At least let him continue to play with his country still intact and just explain how everything works. Just cut him a little slack, you know. Some people are trying to keep themselves in play, so they are a little jumpy. It would be best to lay off on apocalyptic/1984-esque wars until literally 2 or 3 people are left and all remaining nations are large enough to be able to fight and defend themselves (other than wars that literally last 3-15 minutes RL time). Then, it wouldn't really matter since the topic's basically in it's death throes anyway. When it's to that point, have a field day. If you conquer land, focus on countries that've gone inactive or are not in play. That'll leave people not too discouraged to play and allow them to have time to post their interesting "discoveries" or "achievements" or whatever.
  5. -Jagex / They cause most of their own problems. They make many stupid moves because they don't understand their own game anymore. -Manip clans / These clans are pyramid schemes that also make the economy unstable. -Botched updates / Too many updates seem to have something wrong with them, such as glitches. (Remember the glitches at MA, esp. the deletion glitch?) -Wannabe mods / These players are such tools of Jagex that they send frivolous reports in hopes of getting a silver crown. They make the game less enjoyable when you're afraid to get reported for the smallest thing by them (even them filing a false report). -Too many loose ends (content like Prifdinnas and Eastern Lands) / Seems like Jagex should at least throw us a bone here and there and make it seem like the game is moving closer to revealing these areas instead of leaving us in the dark and eventually giving up on them. Due to the fact that Jagex is making their game worse and being jerks about it (as well as the fact that I am getting too old to play Runescape), I plan on quitting soon. I have already lost one of my favourite RS friends not long ago because he quit because the updates sucked and Jagex was making new, ridiculous rules (and not announcing them) and being complete douchebags about it. It seems like this MMG guy is a nice guy, but he doesn't have enough experience to be the CEO of Jagex. The only people really fit to be CEOs of that company are the Gower brothers, but I doubt any of them want to take such a role.
  6. Just reminding everyone that someone claimed New Zealand not long ago (I think a few pages back). It's in play now unless that person doesn't post, ever.
  7. BEHOLD THE POWER OF MAGNETS! But...but... That guy sacrificed himself so all those missiles would strike him, and the tanks and soldiers nearby.
  8. Just a little suggestion, the whole conquest thing is likely to destroy the thread (game) if you just leave the entire globe in the hands of 2-3 superpowers. What keeps the game going are the ideas that people come up with and how they interact with others (nations).
  9. Research into anti-matter has been abandoned as it's too costly to produce just for research. Yes, I suppose that it would make an amazing weapon if you were somehow able to harvest a significant amount of anti-matter and put it into a bomb and somehow able to mass-produce it (which would bankrupt your nation thousands of times over and put you in perpetual debt). You would also have to find a way to store it as it only takes a little anti-matter to come in contact with matter (even air has matter unless you used a vacuum) for it to destroy the container and then make a chain-effect as other anti-particles come in contact with the air and destroy the entire region that they're stored in (unless you stored enough of them together in one area, then it would destroy a bit more than your country). Anti-matter can be harvested and theoretically used for many things, but let's just leave it to sci-fi for now.
  10. Similar thing happened to me (without the computer being locked up). I would get hooked on Runescape and spend upwards of like 12 hours. It caused social problems and made me distracted while I tried to focus on school work. I quit for a while and spent less time on the computer. I was able to focus more on keeping myself healthy and focus a little more socially (I have a shy personality anyway). After a while, I decided to check back and played a little bit, but I quit again because 11th grade was starting for me. About halfway through the year, I started to play again on that game, but didn't let it take precedence over my life. Whenever I had the chance to get out of the house, I did. However, I still had too much free time and found that it was spent listening to music on the net/playing games/surfing the net/talking on chats. I still have maybe too much of an obsession with getting on the internet, but I don't let it get in the way of things. I care more about getting outside the house (which I don't do as much as most people because I have a very shy personality and have a kind of phobia of large crowds and just feel uncomfortable/offended around certain people, especially ones I don't know). I am working on reaching an end-point in Runescape and letting myself play for a little while longer as long as it doesn't get in the way of anything and I'm reasonable with it. Once I reach that end-point, I'm going to just stop playing. I have uni coming up soon, so I don't want to ruin it.
  11. ... or they could be the next dictator, suppressor, killer, rapist. Hey, maybe gaming addiction isn't so bad afterall! Food for thought. Your right, what if there was runescape back in Hitler's time. He probably would have made a "Nazi" clan and tried to pk all the Jewish people. Sarcasm meter's going off. And DerekZ, that's a horrible excuse.
  12. North America and China still need to be cleaned up and re-civilised. I don't think that we should focus so much on extraterrestrial colonisation yet. We also need large spaceships (Battlestar Gallactica anyone?) to transport mass amounts of people to save money. It's better than having several ships shuttling back and forth between two planets and getting settlers/refugees. Also, Doom, I'd be honoured if we collaborated together on research into space travel and colonisation.
  13. Win: 2 tickets Tie: 1 ticket Lose: 0 tickets Of course, all worlds but themed Castle Wars worlds are empty. No one plays fairly in regular Castle Wars games. It's always one team that's stacked against the other, and people flock to the winning team after the game. I know that Glowin Red M founded the CW clan to try to help the old minigame gain some of its old popularity back. Other such clans actually help keep the minigame alive, in my opinion.
  14. Not quite sure yet, haven't some planets capable of life been found? I still have a couple months to figure out. I think Iran discovered one. Brazil discovered one already, and should have a colony there, but we're waiting for communications back, as it takes a while for the messages to get to us. Iran might have discovered one, but it's 12 light years away or so, and me and norway are the only ones with the technology to reach it. Paul, the ship you're getting isn't capable of traveling outside of the solar system, but the ship can sustain life for all the people on board for a very long time, so you could colonize a planet or moon in our system. The only other planet capable of colonisation in our solar system is Mars. The Earth's moon is also another possibility. Does Brazil have the technology for creating large battleships for space?

  16. I suppose we're okay still. Now that I look at it more, it doesn't look like they are including SC clans. The forum mod was just being such a pompous douche that that's what it seemed that he was implying. The thread that Glowin Red M has posted the QFC to is now hidden. All of those forum mods and the ranked generals in MMG's chat are all a bunch of tools. :-# However, the idea of them crusading against the clans that DO decide the outcomes is just plain stupid. They have better things to be working on, but from their track record, I doubt that they'd care less. Merchant clans need to have some action taken against them. You can still go find them on the forums or spamming world 2. The best thing to do now is to just sit back and watch Jagex destroy their own game. Oh well, at least it'll help take the people that are addicted to it away from the computer screen for a bit.
  17. I kind of agree with this article. I think that if you played as a more mature person rather than from an earlier age, it's easier to moderate your time spent on the game. However, if you played since an age where priorities didn't matter as much, it's significantly harder to focus on life.
  18. I don't think she's right for you :P But seriously, if you care more about Runescape than you do her...don't sweat how this turns out. +1 If you actually did date, Runescape would've interfered anyway. If you're that caught up in video games, then you shouldn't worry about dating for a little while.
  19. Fast Sc is going to remain open. I talked with one of the owners about this issue yesterday and she said that there was nothing to worry about. We're too well-known anyway. If we were kicked off the RSOF, I think people would still show up. Sc Claymates would also still be fine as well.
  20. Ha, Australia attacking such a powerful nation as Germany. I can take care of these little mites, Germany.
  21. Our scientists have finished the examination of the virus. However, something doesn't seem quite right with this particular virus. We have kept the virus locked up to avoid contamination.
  22. Just a little statement to anyone that owns a minigame clan that plays stacked games: DON'T LET JAGEX'S BAN ON THESE CLANS HAMPER YOU FROM RUNNING THEM! If you have to, move your official clan threads off-site and make adverts for the clans for Youtube videos or whatnot. Don't let Jagex take your fun away. What, are they going to ban you for playing minigames a certain way that doesn't involve the exploitation of bugs? If I don't want people to use combat while I play Stealing Creation, then I damn well will have no combat!
  23. We already lost. :x EDIT: I already have the hammers that I need for 99 Construction anyway. I'd still be royally pissed if they shut the clan that I help lead down that's for playing Stealing Creation games. This is a farce on Jagex's part. These sort of things are just the products of player ingenuity, which adds uniqueness to already-existing mechanics of the game. Players usually don't play nice in their themed minigame worlds, so why should we play there just to have some twit trying to be a [puncture] to us? Besides, SC clans provide a service of preventing low-level skillers from being too deterred to play the games, as they would be in world 158 where some kid would one-hit KO them and then brag about it and try to harass the player afterward. It's ridiculous. If they want to stop player ingenuity, then take away Roleplaying. After all, it was never intended for you to pretend to be another character. It's not in the "spirit of the game" as you were intended to play as yourself. They're the biggest hypocrites. They're shutting down minigame clans, yet they refuse to take action against clan merchanters (which, I might add, ACTUALLY RUIN the game) since they publicly stated "it's not in the 'spirit of the game'". This is so bloody ridiculous!
