The Profanity Filter
I want a screenshot of that because in my 10 years of runescape, and hanging around at least 3 people who were PERM MUTED for offensive language - (Jmag, Pokey, Keeler) have NEVER seen anything half that vulgar and racist. Heck, Sleets, Pokey, and a few other good and well known pkers played black characters and NEVER got called a racial slur in my time killing with em. You've been playing the hell out of the race card since you've started posting. What a load of [cabbage], Firstly, I don't believe in censorship, secondly, they are you're freaking screenshots right? You can post them wherever the piss you want. Sexist comments -- and these are WITH the censor ... I'm sure I'll find a few racist remarks tonight when I log in. What's wrong with that? Men have nipples too. Maybe they are lovers. What, are you a [bleep]ing homophobe or something?

The Profanity Filter
If the curses and slurs are aimed at you, it's offensive. Otherwise, who the hell cares? "Go to hell!" is offensive. "Oh hell no" isn't. Funny -- I never considered "go to hell" to be offensive ... Yeah, that's another problem. What is or is not "offensive" is highly subjective. It's better to just remove the ability to report someone for "offensive" language and just advise players to make use of the ignore list (and expand how many people can be on the ignore list at any one time) and to toggle the filter on if it gets too serious for them to cope with.
-
The Profanity Filter
Yeah, that's the problem. Who's to define what "offensive" is? Some people think the F-word or [kitty] are offensive. How will Jagex differentiate between "bad words" and "offensive words"?
-
The Profanity Filter
Moreover, what about terms like "[racist term]" or when people use "[racist term]" in a non-racist way? On the Internet many people call each other that in order to mean "bro", regardless of skin color. Also, also, what about obscure slurs? Hmm? Babuska Nignog Harborbomber How will Jagex know all of these slurs?
-
The Profanity Filter
So how exactly does Jagex define "disrespectful?" Also what's to stop people turning their filters off and reporting anyone who swears? Nothing, just like nothing that could be done if people reported people for doing it before the update. If someone is making racist or seriously offensive comments then report them, just as you would have done before this update. Before the update if you just said "[racist term]" it would show up in chat as "******". You couldn't get reported since there was no way to prove that you said a racial slur. Now you can say "[racist term]" and it shows up as "[racist term]", thus you get reported.

So if I say babuska, nignog, and [racist term] I can still get reported?

Egyptian revolution live feed
I'm starting to doubt that the protesters will get Mubarak to stand down through relatively peaceful protest. Why don't they just stage a coup and kill Mubarak? Take the French Revolution as an example. If you truly want freedom (whatever that is to you), fight for it. Don pots in order to make make-shift helmets. Use knives, guns, blunt objects. Fashion weapons from scrap metal or whatever is immediately available. Sure you may lose a lot of people, but at least you can fight for what you think is right. Just protesting will not solve much because the West (namely the USA) will do everything in its power to make sure that they can keep a puppet in power. Call it the 'Pots and Pans Revolution'. Arise, you wretched of the earth!

Runescape Wedding Results in Under-Age Sex Trial
I don't see how the parents are at fault, though. When they caught their daughter with the cellphone, it did raise a red flag and led to them investigating this incident. Of course, you can't fairly gauge whether or not the parents were good or not through the media, but from what I've read, I don't see how they were bad parents. It's kind of unreasonable to expect parents to act as if they were Gestapo officers and monitor a child's every move. That tends to lead to over-restrictions and can cause a child to become more rebellious and resentful of their parents' over-protectiveness (speaking from experience here). While 13-year old girls are indeed immature in general, I wouldn't say that they are completely innocent either. Teens start becoming sexually active at this age, after all. Some young girls like older males because they're stupid and think that older males are "bad boys". Whoops, I Godwinned.

MCAT/PCAT
Do you know what other requirements their med school had other than passing the MCAT? I know this is different, but I've heard some pharmacy schools require that you make a certain grade in organic chemistry (like you had to have an A in organic chem or you couldn't get accepted due to high competition).

Thank you, your abuse report has been received.
Runescape is, was, and will always be about exploiting your fellow players. Free trade or not, it'll always happen.

Surprised that scamming, luring, and general douchebaggery become extremely common with free trade? I'm not. I knew this would happen as soon as Jagex announced the poll. Nobody believed me... I knew this would happen, but I still voted 'yes' anyway. I figured that people were douchebags no matter what.

MCAT/PCAT
Thanks, guys. :) In case anyone is curious, I'm a biology major working toward my bachelor's degree. I was in the pre-pharmacy program at my university, but I decided that the schedule was rushing me too quickly (i.e. I would have had to taken general chemistry I and II over the summer. The schedule just seemed to pack too many courses in so little time.) and it was better to just get a degree before going into pharmacy or med school (depends how well I do on the exams).

Hi, TIF! I'm looking for study material for the MCAT and the PCAT. If anyone has taken either of these exams, I'm interested in knowing what you used to study. Thanks.

Flipping with Free Trade
Say I found a crashing item with a spread of 2 coins, how much of my money should I put in at a time? Should I put in a lot of money to buy a huge amount of items or just buy a moderate amount at a time and sell then repeat?

Flipping with Free Trade
Alas, pretty much every single solitary post I've seen about merching always comes down to "this is the general principle on how to merch, but people won't tell you their item because they need it to be a secret to profit off of it" I guess I'm beating around the bush here. What I'm really asking for is a link to a flip-merchanting guide that a TIFer made. I can't remember his name or else I'd look it up myself. He basically showed what kind of graphs you would look for in the GE database and showed the optimal points for when to buy items. I'm asking this because I'd like to make money off others via the Grand Exchange while I wait for my new PC to come in. Right now less than 1GB RAM on a [cabbage]tty, old laptop isn't enough for me to camp World 2 all day doing old-style merchanting. Now, not sure if you were intending this or not, but I didn't make that post expecting some smartass reply about how good items for merchanting are usually kept secret and that the basic gist of merchanting is to "buy low, sell high".

Cyclone Yasi
The winter storm in the US wasn't too bad-- at least where I live. It just rained a lot and -4C temperatures froze the water. Luckily it was also very windy, so the majority of the water dried off the roads. There were some snow flurries, but none of it really stuck to the ground. I was on the periphery of the storm by the way. Not too far away from where I live, the storm was severe.

What do you suggest as far as everything crashing goes? All of the more obvious items don't seem viable at the moment.
