And throw away my only ticket out of this hell hole called life? No way.
  2. Darn, it has to be an American writer... I would have suggested Alexander Dumas, writer of the Count of Monte Cristo(My favorite book) and the Three Musketeers, but he wasn't American. -.-
  3. Join the army, be all that you can be! (and then die in a pointless war, supposedly protecting your country) Expand your mind, give the world 1 more person with an actual IQ, because at the moment, we are in desperate need. And when I say expand your mind, I don't mean just learn, knowledge is somewhat useful, though pointless when it comes down to things, we need wisdom, create your own philosophys and expand them every day and do not be ashamed when your thoughts are proven wrong, losses give you the chance to expand on your philosophy, become the next Plato or Confucious, you will do the world a great favor in the end, much more than you can do by picking up trash or donating money. Its an accomplishment that never really goes away.
  4. Suprise her with that TOMORROW - it'll work better; specially if you don't normally do that kind of thing :P ya, girls like it when you randomly surprise them with something you obviously put alot of time and planning in to :P valetines day is an excuse to pamper them, but its more romantic to do it any old day of the week. Yes, I know, but the problem is, she lives 3 hours away from me and isn't coming up til the 11th of Feb. time to get a new gf mate :boohoo: -.- Unlike some people I am actually faithful to the one I love...

  6. You could take up Viktor's idea of skiing in the Swiss Alps. It might be a bit costy but it definitly screams "best Valentine's ever" :-P Though I plan on traveling the world with her someday, my funds are a little too tight for that at the moment :XD:
  7. To tell you the truth, I have no idea what to do with my girlfriend, I've been thinking the tradtional, expensive dinner and a movie, along with Roses and Chocolates, and when we come home... *Stops himself from saying anymore* But it just doesn't seem special enough to me, I want something more, but I really can't think of anything. :?

This seems to be a battle over which games are best so, because no one seems to be sensible enough to actually look at the games coming out here are a couple lists: http://www.nintendo.com/gamelist?sf=Nintendo+DS 289 games in the list, includes many games coming out in the near future. And do not forget the fact that the DS can also play Game Boy Advance games, which is a also a major boost to the selection of games, so heres a list of GBA games: http://www.nintendo.com/gamelist?sf=Game+Boy+Advance 975 games, also including games coming out in the near future. That comes to a grand total of: 1264 games. And if you would look through the lists you will see a combination of games created for older players, children, and classic gamers, puzzle, action, racing, ect. Now lets look at the PSP list of games: http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?type ... ortdir=asc As with the above lists this also comes with games to come out soon, and now that I look through it, its got several games I wouldn't mind trying out, though basically nothing interesting at the moment. It is very limited on titles for children, though there are a few. (I love the idea of bringing Earthworm Jim back  ) I see several computer games coming out for it that never seemed to be made for other gaming consols, especially handhelds, such as Sid Meier's Pirates, Dungeon siege, and Black and White, though they are popular computer games, we have yet to see them out for smaller consols. I'd say it will be a close match toward the end of things, though right now the DS has dominance.
  9. Fine, I was wrong on Athiesm, but that is beside the point that I am making here, things have gone way off topic since my first statement, and I admit some of that is my fault. My main point still stands though, you cannot speak of this topic without bringing religion into it unless speaking of the effects death has on the body, and that is not what was asked, so, seeing as religious discussion is banned here, this thread is against the rules, and as Astra stated, this thread should either be locked, or the ban should be lifted, though I am more for the former than the latter, seeing as religious discussion leads to, well, this.
  10. Many Eastern Religions (Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism) don't believe in a God, however it doesn't stop them from believing in something. Atheism doesn't stop you from believing in anything else, it just means that you don't believe in a God. So Athiesm discredits Taoism. Confusionism, is definately not a religion, its sorta a set of beliefs, but these are only philosophical statement and morals, nothing really religious about it. The only real religion that Athiesm doesn't discredit is Buddhism, and thats only barely. I'm sure there are many ways in which Athiesm discredits Buddhism, but I don't have the time to brush up on it at the moment, I just got up and I need to get ready for work.
  11. Not necessarily directing it at you.
  12. *Sighs* There is no open mindedness in the world is there?
  13. If you're only saying the same thing over and over again, why post more than once? I have made discussion on the topic without referring to religion. That invalidates your argument, so stop posting here. For 1 I haven't exactly noticed that I have been posting the same thing more than once, I have only posted against the debate brought up before me how I saw fit, if that includes repeating an arguement, then it was needed to get my point across to someone else. For 2 unless you talk about the effects death has on your physical body, you can not talk about this without bringing religion into it.
  14. You are using the religion ban as a shield. I never talked about religion. You're bringing it up to avoid the arguments I have made. Sorry, was I argueing with you? Every post I have made has been saying that anything said on the subject would be religious, I don't quite remember getting in any arguement with you over the subject itself. If you have an arguement against what I have said, then I would like to hear it.
  15. I still disagree that atheism is a religion. Science and reasoning can prove how existence came to be. We just haven't used those tools to find out yet. If anything finds the answer, it'll be through science. Science doesn't discount religion. The thing is nothing about religion so far is scientific. We just are unable to use science to prove or disprove it - that doesn't make religion unscientific since we don't know. But, if science and reason was created alongside our existance, they do not necessarily point to the truth of our creation, because whatever created us wouldn't have had to go by the same rules as what it creates. Think of it this way, put yourself in the place of an animator, you make your character drop an anvil on its head and have it live through it, even though it is flattened like a pancake, does that mean the animator can do the same? Not in this plane of reality. We are the animation and our creator is the animator, our creator doesn't necessarily go by the same rules we do, its possible, yes, but its not necessarily true. Thus, religion, this arguement is over. Mods, I suggest you lock this thread.
  16. The strength of the method is shown each time you perform an experiment. The method wasn't made to be the bearer of 'absolute truth' but to serve the purpose of shedding light on the reality we live in. Besides, if I observe an experiment performed under the guise of the method, and the hypothesis is strengthened, I can come to the conclusion that the method has been strengthened. Though the point we are trying to make here is that in terms of after life, and existance, science hasn't been proven, thus when used in these discussions it is considered the same as religion, and seeing as religion is banned, this should be locked.

I prefer the DS because it has good games on it, and the dual screen and stylus makes it more fun and makes it something different than all other hand held devises, yet it doesn't completly rely on the touch screen like people fear.
  18. If someone seriously brings up the flying spaghetti monster, it is discussing religion. If someone jokingly brings up the flying spaghetti monster, they are insulting religious people. Either way it's a broken rule. Rule already broken from the start, if you would read my posts, you will see that no matter what angle you go from, its religious.

Yeah, that's also known as a Message Board. I was only pointing out why, I didn't make these rules, but I do believe they are for the best.
  20. Its because it normally leads to flame wars, too many people believe in different things and all think that they are undoubtedly right in what they believe, but no one has any proof to back up their statements, thus all the debates, arguements, and flaming have no point and we still stay where we started at.
  21. That's circular logic. You're assuming our existence has to have meaning. And you're also assuming without having an after life, existence also has no meaning. Both things that aren't true necessarily. I think you'll find most people believe the point of your existence is to live each day to the fullest, which has nothing to do with any after-life. That mindset is so popular because what if there is no afterlife? You'd have wasted your one shot of consciousness waiting for it. Sorry, I didn't mean to state that existance has a meaning, just meant to point out that I like to lean toward existance having a meaning than existance having no meaning Two more false statements. You're on a roll now. Atheism isn't a religion. Atheism is just a convenient word that describes someone who has no religion. You're playing on semantics. And no - religion is not synonymous with science and reason, even if it seems that way to you. If we can't prove religion created all that exists, we can't assume it did. No, the word you are thinking of is agnosticism(Having no religion, but doesn't discount any religion because any of them could be possible), thats what I am, Athiesm believes in no other religion and puts everything in scientific and logical terms, thats a common mistake though. We can not prove science and reasoning created all that exists, thus athiesm is as plausible as any other religion. I do not assume the answer lies within death, though without an afterlife, it would sorta disprove our meaning, I find it hard to believe that after all the work we do and the knowledge and wisdom we gain, we just disappear from all existance when we die, if it does happen, all that would have been for nothing and life would have no meaning in the end. Of course thats nice and all with your belief, and you could be right, but really if we have no afterlife and all humanity and all we have done gets destroyed, we would have no meaning in the end.
  22. You're not supposed to shove it all the way into your ear dude, its not the swabs fault.
  23. We have to go somewhere after we die, otherwise we have no point and existance is meaningless. Btw, if you just talk about how it could happen scientifically, that would be athiesm, which counts as a religion. Religion- (Blank(In this case science and reasoning)) created all that exists, even though we can't prove how. Discussions like this, which can not be proven, falls into the category of religion, no matter which angle you are going from.
  24. Does everyone have a thing with pointing out technicalities on here? But I have to agree with you on that second point, it is quite annoying, especially to me, who is in love with Japanese culture(Not just anime, the entire culture, history, religion, ect)
  25. Still, if a plane flew into it, it would do major damage to it, and being at a high altitude, the damage would be nearly impossible to completly fix.
