Mercifull
Hi, I've got an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and today it seems completely fubared. the graphics are all messed up on the screen with lines all over the place etc. I uninstalled the driver and my pc loads up fine now just really laggy screen refresh (using default xp driver). However when it comes to re-installing the drivers for my card (latest ones from the ati site) the problem comes back? Any ideas people? Bauke
The RAM memory on your card could be broken. Also, check the temperatures of the card. Twitter ||| Google+ ||| Facebook ||| LinkedIn ||| My very interesting weblog about science
Mercifull
The RAM memory on your card could be broken. Also, check the temperatures of the card. How come using default drivers work then when the proper ones don't. Surely if the ram on the card is busted then it should still be messed up? meh, might have to resort to onboard til i get my new pc Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. JoeDaStudd
Have you tried the older ATI drivers, as the newer ones always seem to have problems with the older cards. Mercifull
Have you tried the older ATI drivers, as the newer ones always seem to have problems with the older cards.Where can I get old drivers from? I downloaded the compatable driver right from the AI site any they only had the latest one on there. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. ____
Try the Omega drivers. When my 9800 pro was giving me hell, I uninstalled the ATI drivers and installed the Omega drivers and haven't had a problem since.
Mercifull
I found the Omega drivers while searching google last night but didnt want to install them until after id spoken to a few peeps first Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Mercifull
Still fubared, so must be a dodgy card. The motherboard ive got has an on board chip, how do i go about using that instead of my gpu without messing things up? blade995
I agree with Darkrick on this, try the Omega Drivers. To use the onboard graphics you may need to (re)enable them in the bios or just remove the graphics card before you start using them.
Mercifull
Omega drivers didn't fix it. Turning off hardware acceleration improved things but still not 100% so gonna take the card out later and use onboard. Mercifull
k I just took out my radeon 9800 pro from this pc, connected the monitor to the onboard monitor thing and turned the pc on.... blackness. the green light comes on on the monitor but all it shows is black... any ideas? would i have to install the drivers for the onboard BEFORE taking out the card? Collective
Does it show the usual BIOS screen? If not then it won't be a driver issue. If it loads into Windows and the screen goes black you can try booting into safemode and uninstalling the ATI/Omega drivers.
Mercifull
I cant get into the bios or load safemode because nothing shows up on the screen. Ss soon as i take out my graphics card and plug the monitor into the onboard i get complete blackness. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. JoeDaStudd
Put your old card back in, then load up the bios. There should be a option to use the on board, select to use it then power down take out the card then turn it back on. From there uninstall the Omega/ATI drivers, then update the onboard drivers. Mercifull
Checked the whole bios and cant find ANYTHING relating to the 9100 chip thats on my motherboard. Ive installed the drivers and theres still no option in display properties even when I plug a seccond monitor into the onboard vga. Everyone I ask just seems to not know or ignore me. Im at my wits end here peeps. Does ANYONE have any ideas whats going on? Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Collective
Have you updated your BIOS since you last used the onboard graphics? The only other possibility I can think of is a damaged port/chip/monitor/etc.
das1330
the problem with the card sounds like an overheating problem as lines across the screen are a classic warning sign of exxesive heat if I remember right, but that doesent seem likley. With the screen blackness problem, that could be a broken onboard video part, but that isnt likely either. I think you have somthing very unusual broken, although that doesent help you. I hope your not being serious, ATI was the first to release stable Vista drivers. They have been out for a long time. In fact I'm running Vista with ATI drivers right now.
