is it considered a pixel sig when u brush it?

It makes it a dirty pixel IMO, since it isn't pure pixel when you do that. If it isn't shaded pixel-by-pixel, it takes out a ton of the effort! and EFFORT is operative in pixels...

Just my thoughts on it. People can still technically call it pixel, though, if they did the outlines pixel-by-pixel

well i use brushes on ps to do pixel

you say we dont do it pixel by pixel

i hand fill every part pixel by pixel 1st and brush over with a 3pxl brush max so it is pretty much pixel by pixel

If you use anti aliased brushes, its not pixel.

You might have done the outlines with a 1 pix tool, so what?

As soon as the brushes come in, the word pixel goes out :P

It becomes a BRUSHED sig, so dex, what you are doing isnt pixel..

brushes are used in pixels i gues, but i think you can see the diffrence in brushing and pixels if you see them next to eachother.

so my opinion is that they are both diffrent styles. But combinations between them are considered as 'pixel' to me.

Fact is, 95% of the things here arn't true pixel, Because i doubt most people click pixel by pixel to do their works.

And yes, once you start to brush it, or make it bigger than 1px it becomes non pixelized i belive.

my style is definitely not 100% pixel. i use brushes galore, but mostly the burn tool for good shades in PS. but TECHNICALLY, arent all sigs, no matter what they have in them, "pixel sigs." i mean, they ARE made up of thousands of PIXELS afterall....

im forced to it pixel by pixel, my shading.. cant be done with a fill tool.. my new ground same there.. same there.. so i cant really cheat on it..maybe one time using the fill tool on the border.. but that doesnt infect the outcome.. so its sorta of 99,9 percent pixel without tex

but brushing takes the word pixel right out of it..

I take it you do in photoshop, I think pixel art is a art piece done by comp with a pencil..

I think doing pixel work is just opening Paint and bringing up the Pencil tool and filling stuff with the Bucket. No anti-aliasing. No Text tool, use your handwriting (or mouse-writing if you ain't got a drawing pad, just like me and my dumb old mouse). Just like this:

Also: true pixel sigs compress very well in the PNG format and look crappy in JPEG.

My 2 cents. (yes, the pic looks very nooby; I did it in 3 minutes in Paint just to show what I mean.)

^No, that's incorrect cause pixel sigs are not meant to be coloured in one shot by using a paintbucket fill tool  You can use it to start off as your main colour ofcrouse, but pixel sigs are SUPPOSED to have atleast some colour-change/shading/lighting-effect...

Oh and, these are some incorrect definitions, or 'exagerated' definitions of a pixel signature...

"A signature made in paint or Graphics Gale" - That's not what makes a pixel signature, it's just a feature that most pixel signatures consist of...

"A signature created PIXEL BY PIXEL" - This definition has atleast some degree of exageration, cause I believe that NO-ONE (and IO'm gonna go out on a limb and say not even TJ), colours/shades the signature PIXEL-BY-PIXEL, thinking of each pixel separately... I mean, when your colouring a space around 4 pixels by 4 pixels, and you do it all in one go, that doesn't take away the purpose/distinction of a pixel signature, just casuse you shaded more then 1 pixel at a time, when it would have looked the same anyway...

I'd post more but I gotta go eat, cya ;)
