Mercifull
Cast/Crew: Directed by Danny Boyle Written by Alex Garland Starring Rose Byrne, Cillian Murphy, Michelle Yeoh, Hiroyuki Sanada, Chris Evans, Cliff Curtis, Troy Garity, Benedict Wong Synopsis: Fifty years into the future, the sun is failing, causing the Earth to freeze. A spacecraft, the Icarus II with a crew of eight men and women is launched as a last hope,[2] carrying a stellar bomb with the mass of Manhattan in order to re-ignite the sun. Seven years prior, a similar ship, the Icarus had been launched for the same mission, but contact was lost.[3] When the crew of eight move toward the sun and out of radio contact with Earth, they discover the distress beacon of the ship that had been missing for seven years. After an informed decision (precided over by Capa (Cillian Murphy), the physicist who controls the bomb), the crew decides that it is best to rendezvous with the stricken vessel to attempt repairs in order to give themselves another bomb, and another chance at succeeding in their mission, should their bomb not have the desired effect. Anyone else seen this film yet? I saw it last night and the visuals and music worked so great together it was amazing. There's a few flaws in the film regarding some plot holes (don't really want to give anything away) but its such a visually impressive film you have to see it. I think ill go to the cinema and see it again because its something that just needs to be seen on a big screen. I don't think you'd be as immersed in the experience on a TV screen. If you liked Event Horizon and 2001 then I think you'll love this film. Intriguing
The whole idea behind it sounds kind of stupid to me, but that could just be because I don't like futuristic movies. So if I were to go and see it, it would either be because I was incredibly bored, or for the visuals. Maybe both. :) But anyway, I haven't even heard of it before, so I don't think it's out where I am yet. Cool.
Bubsa
It looks absolutely amazing. If you go to watch it, you'll enjoy it for that. However, the plot gets really pretentious and the end is very much muddled up. The effects will simply blow you away, though. I like how Danny Boyle keeps trying new projects for his films, but if I'm brutally honest, none have been a resounding success since Trainspotting. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
Mercifull
Yeah Bubs i know what you mean about the end, but its good to see a real change in the scifi norm. Less about action and more philosophical and psychological elements. Its not really a futuristic movie tho, its only 50 or so years away. pfft about his other films tho Bubs, I love 28 days Later. Its my current 5th favourtie British Horror Film Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Bubsa
Didn't really like it much, but again, it wasn't your typical horror film either, much like how sunshine isn't a typical sci-fi. I like how Boyle does that. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
Ozzy_Patrick
I too haven't really liked Danny Boyle's recent stuff. And maybe I just don't know enough about this movie but it looks pretty similar to that movie 'The Core' to me (which seemed a bit silly as well). Mercifull
Pffft have you SEEN the film yet? Don't compare it to the Core, that's an awful film. No I haven't seen it yet but I'm saying that (like The Core) the story line looks a bit silly, not that it won't be a better film.

Yeah agreed, everything about this movie looks quite unbelievable but I might watch it if I was forced though. But I think its not just my type of movie. Pfft, Trainspotting. Overrated! 28 Days on the other hand.. :P His best film IMO. I'd like to see this one, Danny Boyle is always interesting. Harrington
Well, I know it's early days yet, but for me Sunshine is the best movie of the year so far. The action was great, the effect pretty breathtaking, the sets were great (best I've seen since Aliens), the plot was pretty good and the direction was masterful. Gotta say that I was rapt with attention throughout the entire feature and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Can't wait for 28 Weeks Later... just another couple of weeks for the UK release =D>
How2PK
I went to see it yesterday night, and it was fantastic. What a movie, breathtaking indeed by it's visuals and sound. And at some points it was very scary. I think I'm going to see it again this week, because I've got the feeling that I can get more out of it than I have now. Because it was mainly a sort of 'trance' that I got into and it felt like I've watched the entire thing with my mouth open and without blinking my eyes once. :P Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! Harrington
I seen this two weeks ago. For me, it's my movie of the year so far. It really was a masterpiece IMHO. The premise may sound silly, but the science behind it was actually very sound. The plot was fantastic (imagine a cross between Event Horizon and Alien). The sets were very well set up and fairly original, and the character development was first class. The direction was excellent too... Danny Boyle is one of the best directors in years. 10/
