New Anti-Macro Idea

Featured Replies

The way I see it, Jagex has 2 main lines of defense against macros. One are people reporting them, and the other are random events. I have a way to improve both of these.

REPORTING- As you know, there is a flood interval for reporting, 1 report every 60 seconds. My idea is to REMOVE this interval ONLY IF YOU REPORT A MACRO. This way, people can report an entire mass.

RANDOM EVENTS-I propose a new random, the Termite Swarm. This occurs randomly, and the level deal is the same like with rock golems and tree spirits. Only once one person gets it, and entire swarm is unleashed. (As in, there are more than 1 npc) They are aggressive, so they will attack anyone else in the vicinity as a few seconds. (20 or so, this way skill pures get some lead time.) If you run, they will go away, but if the original person runs from them, and there is another termite attacking another player, it doesn't go away. That person must also run.

Also, the termites will only attack you if your in the same combat range as the person who originally recieved the event. If you kill a termite, it drops logs and maybe an axe. You can only enter combat with a termite if it attacks you, this prevents people from killing an entire swarm.

Also, the termites will "eat away" at any tree nearby if they cannot attack a player. Tree attackers will disappear if the original runs.

Worthless random idea. Other people would be influenced in their play because of someone getting a random. Very inconvenient and irritating.

Perhaps it's good for macro's, but I don't want my gameplay suffering because of that.

Imagine a crowded area where (logically) lots of randoms will appear... The horror.

I respect your position, but what do you suggest to improve it? It's easy enough to run from it. Also, you MUST be in the same combat level range, so for example, once your level 61, the level 78 (or something, it's in the 70s i know) ones will stop attacking you. If your not a macro, you just run and it only hits you twice. If your a skill pure the most it'll do (in total) is a 4, maybe 6 if you got lag.

This will not, of course, completely stop macros, but I hope it'll stop many.

perhaps they could be like scarabs, for the skillers. you see them break out of the ground and the swarm for a bit maybe they should for about 10 seconds then non autoers would see

the problem: imagine ppl getting these every few minutes. legit players will be annoyed. randoms often happen in packs as ive seen.

i dont support

Ok, well the probabilty of the event can be reduced, and the chances of them all being the same combat range is unlikely. We could seperate the combat rangeds a bit more, and also it isn't very hard to run for 5 seconds.

I support both! And it wouldn't be a big deal in crowded areas if more than one should appear because it would just appear as reinforcement to the first swam and people would just have to run further!

I support the first but not the second.

Firstly you are incorrect to assume that randoms do much to stop macroers.

Secondly that random will do absolutly nothing but annoy legit players.

The difficulty in a player doing a random, is proportional to the difficulty in a macroer solving a random.

EG: It is easy for a player to run from a golem, it is easy for a macroer to do the same.

The mysterious box gives a slight difficulty for players to solve, same thing for a macroer.

imagine if u are in varrock bank world one

a level 120 termite would appear with extreme frequency, killing all the level 3s

and in lumbridge too

I see what you mean, but then if it's so easy to run from a rock golem, why is it still in the game? My guess is because it still does SOMETHING. And the termites are easy enough to run from, and with the lead time your given, you can easily switch worlds.

we dont need more randoms taking our magic trees away while were cutting them ????

That was very constructive. If it appears you just run, problem solved.

Ok, first, stop with all the multiple puncuation marks, second, calm down. Look at the others who didn't like this idea. None act like you do, and I really can't understand much of what your saying.

So, because you can't read what has been stated before, this will do something. I know it because they still keep other randoms such as tree spirits in for a reason.

and the reason being. your cutting, the tree turns into a ent by its image. not its code color or name. here il help you, try thinking up a random that an auto'er cant even compete with? if you dont know how, think about what an autoer doesnt have.... eyeballs..... somthing you need to finish what follows and then some.

finally you start giving me useful information.

So, how then can we include that in this suggestion?

  • Author

Ok, I got an idea, tell me what you think of this then:

When the termites start to form, a big bulge forms in the tree/ground. A person must click it, then solve a question such as in the mysterious box. If you answer wrong the swarm comes, if you take over 20 seconds the swarm comes.

Sound good?

Don't try to sound like you know what you're talking about when you don't.

The majority of macroers have something much better than eyeballs. They send and recieve packets to and from the server. The server sends the client "Hey, you get a random" These macroers recieve this packet, and send another, emulating the exact packets which would normally be sent if someone was really doing the random.

Colour clickers can solve these randoms fairly easily too.

If autoers can run when anything attacks them, what makes you think they couldn't run when termites attack?

Right, I should fix that, thanks.

And to the guy who said the thing about the running, read what I said in an earlier post.
