April 17, 200719 yr I am thinking of becoming a paying member of runescape in the near future, which has raised many questions. Guess i should start with my stats... As far as i can remember: Attack: 60 Strength: 73 Defence: 50 Hitpoints: 67 Range: 56 Mage: 60 Prayer: 49 Mining: 62 Smithing: 55 Woodcutting: 70 Cooking: 69 Fishing: 57 Runecrafting: 18 Crafting: 42 Firemaking: 30 I want to know what are the first things i should buy? Assuming i have around 20M. I wonder if you could give a list (or even just one item) that you think i would need, or would be the best thing to buy. If your giving a list, could you please order it with importance... I also wonder if anyone has any ideas of which skills would be a good idea to raise before becoming a member? If any? (which im sure there will be! and finally, what the first things i should do when i do become a p2p member. Thanks. :D Please Post!!! The Unknown...
April 17, 200719 yr i would advise training str for new armors such as barrows which need 70 def Barrows Drops: Guthans Helm, Dharok Legs, Ahrims Hood
April 17, 200719 yr start doing quests, if you plan to use d long or dds you need to do the Lost City quest i think, they are several quests you have to do :S
April 17, 200719 yr Author i dont really know anything about dragon weapons, or dds? Think i should use them? The Unknown...
April 17, 200719 yr train str as well but get def up and definitely do lost city for dds heroes quest for d baxe monkey madness for d scim and if u train 70 atk get a whip that would cost all up roughly 2.05m Barrows Drops: Guthans Helm, Dharok Legs, Ahrims Hood
April 17, 200719 yr Get 70 attack for whip and 70 defense for guthans/veracs. There is more info about new P2P in link http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=new_members_P2P_guide.htm
April 17, 200719 yr Author Thanks everyone.. What are dds? is it dragon dagger? and if it is, why is it plural, with an s? Anyone else know what i should buy? The Unknown...
April 17, 200719 yr dds is the old term for ddp++. (p++) being super poisoned. get a fairly high agility the bonus of recovering energy way faster. like everyone else said, get 70's across the board for barrows/whip, and get a nice con lvl for a decent house with tele's, lecturns and of course, the combat ring.... (very easily achieveable with 20mil gp)
April 17, 200719 yr Author Thanks thesmallone29, what do u consider to be a good con lvl? Anyone know what i should buy? Weapons? Armour? Nothing? The Unknown...
April 17, 200719 yr buy what you can use and what your going to be using Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob. People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

April 17, 200719 yr This topic should be in the Help and Advice forum since you are asking for advice. I will move it there this time.
April 17, 200719 yr Author Thanks all who posted. And thanks McGuff1. Anyone know what i should buy first? The Unknown...
April 17, 200719 yr I'd say Lost City and buy a d long for better training than a rune item. Then you should, like everyone else said, get 70's for barrows. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
April 17, 200719 yr Author is barrows really that good then? And if i were to buy barrows, which one is the best? The Unknown...
April 17, 200719 yr Another thing, training runecrafting would be useful, as that skill is far more useful in members - collects any element talismans you can, as using for combination runes in members would be exceptional training from a low RC level - though you'd also need some necklacses of binding. Mage is also a much more powerful skill in members, so in some respects, what you do and what you buy also depends on your combat style aspirations. 1. Melee - you can now: Wield dragon (though many items have quest requirements), wield a maul, use some partial > rune armour (granite, fremmy). 2. Range - you can use the magic short bow, wear Blue dragonhide (60=Red, 70=Black) 3. Magic - You can wear Mystic, and several other armours For many of the more dangerous, but worthwhile, monsters, either distance combat (mage/range) or protection prayers are essential. You may also need to consider "buying skills" rather than equipment, as it could save gp later.
April 17, 200719 yr Author Thanks Doomster, that was most helpful... Have any idea of which skills would be best to 'buy'? The Unknown...
April 18, 200719 yr train defence to lvl 70 so you can wear the barrows you can train in the tarzaar fight pit too
April 18, 200719 yr Thinking about geting members on my main. And get: 60 attack, buy DDP++ (and other dragon weapons). I would also be pushing towards the "Family Crest" quest, going for either the goldsmithing gauntlets (high smithing XP from gold + do "Between a rock" for more gold) or the chaos gauntlets to do more damage with bolt spells. Buying skills? The skills I'd want would be a useful / quest level of farming (buying seeds you can use), Herblore (buying unids) - though actually, maybe better to combat good seed/herb droppers instead, and maybe construction, to the point of getting portals. Construction is a skill which can only be bought, as the few free ways to gain construction xp are very slow, and the more expensive ways, like having a butler plank logs, are faster - in general, Oak planks, giving 60 xp per plank used, and costing 250 gp for sawmill services (plus more for butler service if you go that way) are the main way to train. Balloon transport can also be used to aid in planking using the crafting guild and Varrock locations, but the quest needs 30 farming. A lot of member skills are required to open up areas and transport - opening up the fairy ring network is another one worth aiming for
