What ever happened to randomly generated dungeons?

The randomly generated dungeons ALREADY EXIST! :-s

Ever heard of Temple-Trekking? That's a randomly generated dungeon... Different everytime.

How about...they don't exist! Notice the "Form your own adventuring party" segment. Last time I checked, most of the [cabbage] you do in this game that resembles any type of "random" or "unique" adventure is single-player.

Epic fail.

To further expand on my previous post, I think each dungeon layer can have a boss character at the end that you have to defeat to get a key or something to unlock the next dungeon layer.

Meltzars Maze

But people are missing the biggest team game in rs, PEST CONTROL. It's how half the member community trains and is 99% team based :-X .

And to the author, theres been hundreds of updates that never came. Your expecting too much from them. Man, I wish jagex stopped making updates, it'd make everyone happy except for the "muuuuuust havvvve upppdatesss!!!!" people. Nothing to complain about them :) .

So next time, don't get your hopes up when reading the plans for next month (I stopped reading them altogether 8-) )

The difference between the randomly generated dungeons and Melzar's Maze is well, the dungeon will be randomly generated to give it variety.

I agree that Pest Control is a team-based mini-game but it limits the player to only combat. The randomly generated dungeons should allow a player to use both combat and non-combat skills. The experience a player can gain during their crawl through the randomly generated dungeon would also be gained while they are using their various skills.

I agree with some of the players that have been playing since RSC in that the game is becoming easier and easier to train certain skills. Where has all the thinking disappeared to?

of course, theres always someone that just has to pull out the first ever bts and weep. How about you just forget about it? Maybe Jagex decided it was a bad idea and scrapped it? or they just never got around to releasing it yet? Does anyone even care? You're pulling your hair out for nothing.

well I agree with the fact that the game is becoming easier by the month, but i don't understand the part after that. I played back in RSC, but I never noticed the fact that skills required thinking, even though the game is getting easier, Jagex keeps releasing content that requires more and more thinking. My favorite example is MEP2.

Try:

Treasure trails

Temple Trekking

Barbarian Assault

Pest Control

I think Treasure trails followed to that update, although far from sure. As TT creates your own 'quest.'

Temple trekking is different almost always.

And as far as it consernes BBA and PC for teamwork and adventure. BBA is a nice example. Not sure why the autoer of this post says they failed here. For PC, yes they failed.

uhhhh......

TT's = the only thing you fight is the wizards, and that is predictable when you open the clue.

temple = yes

BA: no, predictable. certain # of monsters per round, same monsters every time.

Pest control: same as BA.

there is really only 1 randomly generated dungeon, and its in a remote location where some people cant/dont want to travel to.

First of all, I dont see the word "Dungeon" once in that quote from jagex.

If you were saying Christ about what I think you are, thats like saying "lern to speel noob!!!1!"

Whats with these 0-2 word posts? Jeez...

TT's: Not even close.

BA: Not even close. The same every time.

PC: Again, not even close. It's just as different as monsters spawning in different places.

Temple: Closest out of all of them, but it is not a randomly generated scenario. It's a trail where random monsters appear.

Actually, that last part I was typing it at work and the day was coming to an end and I ended what I wanted to say rather abruptly.

Anyways, allow me to continue. I agree that there was plenty of thinking involved in MEP2 and it was quite a challenge.

Where has all the thinking disappeared to?

I think it would be a change and a challenge for players to go through a dungeon that gives a new experience every time you went through it. Consider it an alternative way to train your various skills. Many of the mini-games target a specific skill such as the Brimhaven Dungeon, Pyramid Plunder, the Fishing Trawler and the Sorceress' Garden. But consider the possibility of a dungeon that allows you to not only combat ever increasingly difficult monsters but to use your non-combat skills to solve puzzle scenarios and to work with other players to get pass obstacles.

Pest Control and Barbarian Assault are team-based mini-games, that I agree upon but it is still a limiting experience in that it becomes predictable. Something that is predictable tends to lose its novelty after a period. The reason Pest Control has endured is because it offered a very quick way to train combat skills and that alone attracts the hordes of players eager to become powerful combat based characters. I can't really say much about Barbarian Assault since I don't know much about it so I'll just leave it at that.

To end my rambling, I think if a randomly generated dungeon is ever implemented, then it might be a way to invigorate players who are willing to face a challenge that has possibilities for great rewards.
