Blipo
As a Canadian, I don't "celebrate" Memorial Day, so excuse my ignorance here. Isn't Memorial Day a day to remember those soldiers fallen in combat, and those soldiers who are currently serving now? So how in all hell did it turn into National Backyard Barbecue Party Day? Can you really mix "a lot of fun" with "Memorial"? And yaknow, combat games of any sort just don't seem... I dunno, appropriate on this specific day. Whatever. Maybe this is just how you Americans do things. Excuse my Canadian simplicity.

Ginger_Warrior
I'm not a US citizen, but Mortal Kombat on Memorial Day? I'm sure that would offend quite a few Americans... | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
Sk4terpunk90
I'm not a US citizen, but Mortal Kombat on Memorial Day? I'm sure that would offend quite a few Americans... Uh, not quite so. And the reason it turned into a backyard BBQ day is because everyone gets the day off. Well, almost everyone.
Ginger_Warrior
It just seems a strange concept to the word 'Memorial'. It's nice to know you were thinking of your troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and past wars while partying 'till 2 in the morning... | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
lonellama
Its kind of like how we celebrate jesus's death by having easter egg hunts and eating chocolate bunnies =P~ But on another note it's obvios people aren't all going to 'remember' on Memorial Day. To most it's probably just another holiday, which is a guess sad in a way.
vladmoney
every holiday in america becomes and excuse to sell more products its just the laws of our economy. I mean sales left and right *buy our need $3k barbaque pit just in time for memorial day weekend* *pools don't have to pay till 2010 just in time for memorial day!!* ofcourse as a society we get pressured by these advertisments. Plus he spent the day with his family, its not too bad. You didn't expect him to just sit around all day in solitude remembering soldiers. Its also a time to be thankful for the things they have brought us too. I went to a wedding so.. i dunno. megakiller32
Im pretty certain Memorial Day is a day for rememberance, not partying. Im guessing you take memorial day as a day off from work/school instead of its real meaning? (you know.... remeberance and stuff....) Talk about a celebration, eh? I did some looking around, and apparently there's a Foamy topical rant about it. Illwillpress.com, click "Topical Rant". Just like MLK day, presidents day, etc. I actually did go to a memorial service this year though... and also enjoyed my day off of course.

The easter eggs and bunnies are nothing to do with Jesus, they come from the ancient pagan festival celebrating the coming of the spring equinox

They took boats across the salt lake and stormed mormandy so as to take salt lake? I covered my second job on monday (mowing yards), then tried to fix a computer bug. Never really got into the holiday. Some people are like slinkies, normally they are dull, but they always give you a smile when you push them down a flight of stairs. FruDaDaLoom
god you guys are ignorant. why not celebrate and have fun,w/o the veterans having fought in past wars, we wouldn't be able to do that. and maybe if canada would get in a war, you could have a memorial day, but that'll never happen.
