Does anyone even use Runescape News forum these days?

Featured Replies

If I'm not wrong, the purpose of the Runescape News forum is to discuss about new Jagex updates that are in the game.

The trend I see now is that whenever there is an update, forum users would create threads in General P2P to discuss the new update, not just one, but many. All duplicate threads are locked as well. A tip.it mod/admin also creates an exact same thread in the Runescape News forum. The problem is, almost everyone flocks to General P2P for the update thread, instead of Runescape News. The thread in General P2P becomes more popular.

In such a way, my assumed purpose of Runescape News is defeated. Why don't Mods that posted in such locked topics direct forum users to the exact same thread in Runescape News instead? :-k

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

I'd like to see it changed so when a RuneScape update is released, a staff member posts an official discussion thread on the P2P board and has the link to that thread on the RuneScape news topic. But the RuneScape news board reverts back to disallowing any posts by "normal" users. I do think the current system as you described is pretty silly.

Easy way for us to fix this would be to make a topic that was stickied, and lock it, with the title "Reserved for This Week's Update." Make it known then that ALL discussion about the update should be restricted to there, and that anyone posting the update in a different topic will have the topic locked and removed.

The problem I see is that there are at least 10 people who try to race to have the update topic first, which is causing issues with the first page of the board when the update comes out. By simply making those topics of theirs against the rules, we stop their actions and keep the board clean.

Either that, or we need to more heavily moderate the General P2P board in this respect and tell them that all discussion about this update should be made in the Runescape News forum.

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

I agree we should get rid of that forum, I think it's the one I check the least. And I see nothing wrong with keeping those discussions on general P2P.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

Yea, I always wondered what the point of it was. People race to get a topic posted because probably only one out of these 10 people want to post it, because they want to discuss it. I really do think that forum should be removed or the ideas above should be implemented.
