Mr_Adam
So you've finally paid for becoming a member, and while you're killing a new monster, you get this... Your very first clue scroll! You dream of gilded armor, robin hood hats, and maybe shiny new runite items! You read the clue... and open your mouth in shock. What am I supposed to do?! Luckily there's me! \ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What is a clue scroll? A clue scroll is obtained from monsters after killing them, sending you on a wild goose chase for buried treasure! There are three different levels of difficulty, each with better rewards, longer challenges, and greater difficulty. [hide=Level ONE]level one clues are dropped by low level monsters, including men and women, goblins, al-kharid warriors, and from pickpocketing H.A.M members. They are short, easy, and have absolutely no coordinate clues. Refer to Rewards section for rewards.[/hide] [hide=Level TWO]Level two clues are dropped by medium level monsters, most commonly guards. They can be short or medium-long, and introduce coordinates (refer to coordinates section) and sometimes clues leading you to the wilderness. Refer to Rewards section for rewards.[/hide] [hide=Level THREE]Level three clues are dropped by high level monsters, including jellies, hellhounds, greater demons, and dragons. They can be really long, hard, could lead you into the wilderness a lot, and when digging for coordinates, you will be attacked by a Saradomin or Zamorak Wizard . The rewards however can be EXTREMELY beneficial. Refer to the rewards section.[/hide] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Different Challenges There are many different challenges a clue can lead you on. Speak to an NPC - Simply find the specified NPC and talk to them. You will have to then do a challenge scroll (usually a math or counting problem) for them to give you your clue. Look/Search - Find the area the clue tells you to search. Riddles - Solve the riddle, go to the area designated and get your clue. You may have to dig or search somewhere. Map - a map of an area, look at the world map and find the area. Puzzle (level 3 only) - A sliding puzzle, speak to the NPC the clue tells you to go to, solve the puzzle, then have them give you your clue/reward. Coordinates (level 2+ only) - See coordinates section. Anagrams - Solve the mixed up NPC name, then find them. They will give you a challenge scroll/Puzzle Emote Clues - Do exactly as the clue says. For level 3 clues, Double agents will appear and attack you. On mainland they are level 108, and in the wilderness they are level 84. Kill them, emote again and talk to Uri. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coordinate Clues The longest and hardest clues out there. To start them, you will need a sextant, a watch, a chart, and a spade to dig at the "X"! [hide=Obtaining Watch, Sextant, and Chart][hide=Watch]To get the watch, speak to Brother Kojo at the Clocktower. That's Just south of Ardougne Zoo, and almost next to a Spirit Tree. [/hide] [hide=Sextant]To get the sextant, speak to the Observatory Professor, who tells you to get it from Murphy in Port Khazard. [/hide] [hide=Chart]To get the chart, after obtaining the watch and sextant, speak to the Observatory Professor. [/hide] After obtaining all the items, the Observatory Professor will then give you a rundown on how coordinates work. It's very confusing, I had to use Tip.it's guide before I understood.[/hide] Basically, the observatory is the 0 degree point of RuneScape. your clue has degrees and minutes. There are 60 minutes in each degree, and each square is 2 minutes. Lets say your clue says 8degrees 10minutes north, 14d 36m east (not real). Head northeast from the observatory, until you get close to the area you're heading to. When you get to say, 8d 4m north, head north until your perfect, then head due east. When they perfectly match, DIG! On a level three clue scroll, when you dig, a Saradomin Wizard (level 108) or a Zamorak Wizard (level 65) will attack you when you dig. Saradomin Wizards only appear in the non-wildy, and Zamorak only in the Wildy. [hide=Saradomin Wizard]Saradomin Wizards are very dangerous! They use Saradomin Strike, and if you protect mage, they use a Dragon Dagger P++! :ohnoes: If you protect Melee, they use Sara Strike! :ohnoes: :ohnoes: I reccomend wearing your best d-hide, and protecting melee as you kill them. [/hide] [hide=Zamorak Wizard]Zamorak Wizards are nothing. Bring anti-pk food, as they are in the wildy. Just protect mage, and kill. Beware of PKers![/hide] Coordinates are very hard, I personally use the Tip.it pop-up coordinate locater. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ REWARDS!!! It's what you've all been waiting for!!! The suspense is killing you - you could get 5gp, or the extremely rare 3rd Age Armor! Listed below is all the possible rewards. [hide=All Levels][/hide] [hide=Level One][/hide] [hide=Level Two][/hide] [hide=Level Three][/hide] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some After Notes -No quests are required to get the sextant, watch and map. -This is a great guide I found on RS official Forums on Wilderness Clues. 21-22-629-46452822 -In the Tip.it Forums, under Help + Advice is a sticky about Harvesting Clues! :o http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=340581 (If link doesn't work, Go Help and Advice -> (Sticky) Clue Index. Then pick "Best Place to Harvest Clues?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Credits Everything but pictures: Me! Picture Credits- Clue scroll and mages: Official Knowledge Base Rewards Pictures: Zybez RuneScape Help ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aftermath Wow that was a lot longer than i expected! worth it though, I hope you guys can find this usefull, especially new members who don't know what to do. De_Lille_D
1 Degree = 60 minutes (like hours, minutes and seconds) 1 minute = 60 seconds (I don't think they divide coordinates up in seconds in runescape though) (That system comes from measureing angles in math: a circel is 360 degrees, so it is also 21600 minutes or 129600 seconds.
