The RUSH trivia thread!

Featured Replies

If there are any Rush fans out there, I am always interested in playing a game of trivia with you. Post a question here, or PM me it on TIF. We'll have to rely on YOUR HONOUR not to check on the internet, to answer straight out of your brain!

Anyways, first question:

What are the seven chapters of 2112?

If you answer a question, try to post a new one!

Erm, I cant remember :?

Why does Geddy Lee use washing machines?

  • Author

Well, on the old Rush site, there was the "interview" with Geddy Lee and his terrier Duke. On there he said the dryers represent "the clean, warm sound we try to get when we play our music". Don't know if this is right though...

And the seven chapters of 2112 are (from memory):

Ch. 1:Overture

Ch. 2:The Temples of Syrinx

Ch. 3:Discovery

Ch. 4:Presentation

Ch. 5:Oracle: The Dream

Ch. 6:Soliloqy

Ch. 7:The Grand Finale

How many full-length original albums do Rush have? (This doesn't include Archives, Best-Of albums, or concert albums, etc.

Wow! Nice try, but you missed Grace Under Pressure. So there's 18 total. I doubt I could name them all off the top of my head, I just know the number.

Anyways, next question.

What Rush tour was called the "Down the Tubes Tour"? Hint: the album was their worst ever for sales.

Simplicity in itself. Alex Lifeson <3:

What's the only Rush song (instrumental) that is only performed by Alex (no Geddy or Neil)?

Sorry, my above answer was wrong. It's actually Alex and then his last name is something Jewish that means "Son of Life". So he uses Alex Lifeson.

It's Hope off the new album. ;P I saw them live on the 6th, and it was played after the drum solo. Good stuff.

I love that song!! Saw them live in July and they still put on a great show at age sixty lol

What album marked the beginning of the "synthesizer age"?

lSEHB.gif

Being immature is a part of being mature.

I think the first synth stuff used was on the song Xanadu off of A Farewell to Kings, but the age of it most likely started with Moving Pictures.

In Moving Pictures they did start to lean heavily towards synths, but the difference was much more pronounced in Signals, which is where the synth age is considered to have started.

What is the only Rush album since A Farewell to Kings that has NOT contained any synthesizers? This one might be a little tough... I just found this out a couple days ago =D

Alex, put a question after you answer one! I need something to answer =D

Hmm. That's tough. I wanted to say Roll the Bones, but I doubt that's right.

Counterparts maybe?

Why was Peart told to not join Rush? ;P There's mah question.

Vapour Trails, actually. The band decided to go for a more "Raw, rock sound", so they chose to use no synths.

Anyways... I know that he and Alex Lifeson didn't really get along well originally, and Alex wanted to take on someone else. But Geddy Lee liked him, and so he was allowed to join.

Don't know if that's the answer you're looking for, but whatever.

Who did Neil Peart replace as drummer?

are rush good? im going with my dad to their concert on october 10th and ive heard they are?

My IRC nickname is Adam :)

You win Alex, that was an easy one =D

And Rush are simply the ultimate in musicianship, but I'm madly in love with them, so I might just be a tad biased. They do put on one of the best shows yo'll ever see in your life though, doesn't matter whether you're a fan or not.

Anyway, next question. (Btw alex, ask qestions! Argh. =D)

Which Rush 'epic' is a sequel to Cygnus X-1 Book One: The Voyage?

lSEHB.gif

No idea but I love this thread 8-)

Going to see them October 3rd Glasgow SECC :D

Not sure of the Cygnus name, but it was off Hemispheres, which was released after the album with the first Cygnus on it (A farewell to kings).

thesip2.jpg

  • Author

It's actually the song Hemispheres. The full name of Hemispheres is 'Cygnus x-1 Book II: Hemispheres'. The song continues the story of the man who flew into the black hole in The Voyage, and he reenters as Cygnus, God of Balance.

And have fun Alan! I saw them July 18th in Calgary, greatest time of my life.

lSEHB.gif

Being immature is a part of being mature.

You live in Calgary? >.> So do I...

I was in Vancouver when they came, so me, my dad, and my big brother drove down to Salt Lake City to see them on the 6th of August.
