klankaos
Oh, my, you're pretty trivial. I've got abso-bloody-lutely no clue. And he went to London to try to get work in music in England before returning and signing with Rush. I kinda just wrote a loooottt of stuff about each of the band members and albums. I've got a couple paragraphs for the band, couple paragraphs per member, and a paragraph and then some on each album. All the albums and members have a YouTube clip attached, too, so you can see a sample of their work through the ages. It took me far too long to write. I was working on it for, like three weeks  Anyways... New question. What did Alex reportedly eat $19,000 worth of in a single afternoon? Being immature is a part of being mature. rushrock
Oh, I should know this...It's either lobster, crab, or grapes right? The answer was a snare drum at age 13. :P Fill-In-The-Lyrics! First ones will be easy... "My uncle has a country place, that no one knows about. " :D
klankaos
Oh, I should know this...It's either lobster, crab, or grapes right? Nope! Sorry. Apparently he's quite the cheese lover though... 19 grand... (And fyi, I would absolutely love to eat 19 grand of lobster in an afternoon. I'd be in heaven.) The answer was a snare drum at age 13. :P Gawds but you're trivial. Thirteen? I thought he started way earlier than that. Fill-In-The-Lyrics! First ones will be easy... "My uncle has a country place, that no one knows about. " :D Oh, so that's the way you want to play, is it? Ah well, we were digging pretty deep for questions recently. And you're right - that one is easy. "He says it used to be a farm, before the motor law." This is gonna be fun. 'Nother easy one just to kick things off. "I stand atop a spiral stair." klankaos
Sorry, I've never listened to 2112 before. I just never got around to it. Surprising, huh... WWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTT?!?!?! Call yourself a Rush fan?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Somehow, I think this was a sarcastic comment. But, you never know. I'm really hoping you're joking... And if not... Listen to it. Immediately. It's wonderful. It's perhaps my favourite song. It's... Well... It's 2112. 'Nuff said. And the next line is, "And oracle confronts me there". "The ebb and flow of tidal fortune, " "Electrical changes are charging up the young." Hmm... "End the need for Eden, chase the dreams of merchandise." Being immature is a part of being mature.

klankaos
^ Bah, I don't know. :( "There is tick tock in atomic, leaders make a deal." Anagram (for Mongo). "The buildings are lost in the limitless rise. " Ooh... I know a part of it. "My feet catch the pulse ... stride." Bloody hell, I should know this. Okay, seeing as you phailed at the other two, I'll give you a good, easy one. No, that's no fun. Here's a nice, moderately tricky one. rushrock
^ Geez, I guess I know less than I thought, because I don't know... You know a lot more than me. I clearly have been slacking off on my Rush intake. Where was Neil Peart born? I'll give you a hint: It's in Canada. :P
Kalphite
I just started listening to progressive music, namely Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree, and I've heard from a LOT of good things about Rush. What would be their best 2 or 3 albums to get me started and to give me a sample of their music?
rushrock
^ The Spirit of Radio: Greatest Hits 1974-1987 and 2112, for those who really want to experience Rush. That complication is really good IMO. You might want to check out Rush's most recent album, Snakes and Arrows. It spawned a couple of nice hits. Rush is really an incredible band. :)
klankaos
^ Geez, I guess I know less than I thought, because I don't know...Actually, that's a hard one. It's Beneath, Between and Behind, from Fly By Night. The next line is "The swords are tarnished now". You know a lot more than me. I clearly have been slacking off on my Rush intake. Where was Neil Peart born? I'll give you a hint: It's in Canada. :P Get back in the loop! TSO are good too, though. I just reentered Vapor Trails into my computer - it's an amazing album, forgot how good it was. It's my favourite album so far. Bugger - I've got no clue. These are getting tough. Here's a really, REALLY cryptic one for you. What is Rush's ONLY Number One hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart? I just started listening to progressive music, namely Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree, and I've heard from a LOT of good things about Rush. What would be their best 2 or 3 albums to get me started and to give me a sample of their music? Let's see... There really is no album that defines Rush. They've tried so many different musical styles, and every one of their albums, they try to take a different direction with their recording, resulting in very musically skilled, but different, albums. I'll give you a few that really are the embodiment of the various "eras" of Rush music. First off, there's 2112, their probable best progressive album. Then you have to get Moving Pictures as their mainstream rock album. Then, for the bit after that, Power Windows. And then once they got back out, try Test For Echo. Then their final period, back into heavy, harder rock, (my favourite album) Vapor Trails. There's the five 'classic' rush albums. Well, not really, but they embody the different stages Rush have gone through over time. Being immature is a part of being mature.
tryto
Here's a really, REALLY cryptic one for you. What is Rush's ONLY Number One hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart? If you're taling about the Billboard US mainstream rock charts, I think there were at least 4. New World Man, Show don't tell, Dreamline, and Stick it out I recall. klankaos
You sure? I know those all charted at number three or above, but I'm pretty sure Stick It Out and New World Man topped out at three. And I think Dreamline hit number two, but it's completely possible that it went number one. Show Don't Tell is the one I was thinking of. Being immature is a part of being mature. klankaos
Wow! Interesting. But looking stuff up is bad :D I never would've thought Stick It Out topped the charts, though. Strange. New question. Let's dig real deep for this one. Which Rush song contains lyrics written by all three members of the band? (Did I ask that before?) Being immature is a part of being mature.
