People need to realize the nature of sig design. Sig design is made for designers to be a SHORTCUT for money making. If they have skill, sig makers can spend a few hours of work making the GP that would take them days on RS to make.

If sigs were made by dedicated people who spend DAYS, even WEEKS on their sigs just like artists spend on their art, then the prices would either be WAY higher or they just wouldn't find it worthwhile to sell them!

Hard work is spent for good money, PERIOD. Medium prices are given to those who spend probably a couple hours doing mediocre jobs. That's the nature of the beasts. Designers realize this and they retreat to real design forums (later getting their art ripped by the mediocre sig makers).

It's stupid, but true.

I love, how you say that "the people that put more time in (hard workers) get more money, because its better quality"

then you say "I looked at a few posts before this for 10 minutes" well we here, we think something along the same lines, the more time you put into your post, the better it will be, the less time you put into it, the worse it will be. So a post by someone who read each post carefully and maybe did some googleing, may be very imformative, and a good clear post. Were a post from someone who saw the topic, read a few lines, then posted, may be very ill advised and assume alot of things that are wrong.

Does anyone else think this is a bit, ironic?

Just my opinion![/b]

Heh...

The only reason I stopped picking on Nadril is because he didn't give up like the other ones. That doesn't mean I iike him.

That was a joke, if you didn't catch it.

Anywho, as for me, I have found that absolutely nothing I did or learned while I was a "sigmaker" has anything to do with what I do now. I guess it might help you if you are going for a career in print or some similar design. But I wouldn't say that's where the money's at. Nothing I do at my VFX and Animation Studio has anything to do with anything I have ever done for a "sig." It's something you'll figure out sooner or later. I guess the best thing I got out of all this was the ability to critcize, and take criticism; it's essential in this business. I like to be an optimist and say there is a method to my madness; or should I say, my ashole-ish posts. Someone might find them useful. Anywho, enough rambling...

Signatures are meant to be unique calling cards of each person. I've liked most of the sigs and artists that your all ripping on and I don't see the point in this thread. Make the sigs how you want them and others will ask for the how they want them.

So shut up ploz.

Did you even read through this topic? I thought one of the things in this was saying that people all make the same thing. Maybe it could encourage non-original sigmakers into making new sigs? or you could sit there and say shut up ploz.

I'm wandering off the current line of thought right now and skipping back 4 pages to the original topic post by Razy_M8...

Yes its a bit tedious seeing similar sigs along the lines of "stock picture + grunge + name and stats + border"

....but what about it?

To become a good artist you start off as a bad artist, sometimes you stay as a bad artist of course but thats just your problem. The thing is its just a signature picture! You dont have to stop and look at each one if you dont like it!

You can comment and critisise them in your own way if they ask for your opinions but it really isnt anything to do with anyone else what you personally want to have stuck on the end of your posts to identify you.

If it just happens that you like a certain style of picture which just happens to bear certain design techniques with a great many others then thats your choice.

Mine might look plain and boring to other people but I like it as it is, and I can guarantee that it was 100% digital without a scrap of a real picture in it but thats what I like.

I suspect the real reason for you not liking certain styles is because thats whats beaten you in all sig and design competitions you've entered on the boards (yes I did trawl though your posts)....

If you cant win in competitions then try changing style to what people like or make a shop of your designs so people can see and bid on art they like.

The customer makes the rules on sigs, whether thats you or someone else. Learn to live with it.

lame, old, but often true! lol

Some really do get bitter over losing comps. I have no clue if he is one of them.

Then, some have sense enough to realize the worth of rs gp.....not much

(except on ebay....haha, but I always thought that was unethical, which is a shame becuase I was a RUNE MINER! woot, better money than sigs and killing people at the rocks is fun.....bout the only thing I liked about rs in the end).

I agree with one element of it, what people like here is what they like. You can't change it over night. But that doesn't mean you have to adopt it! Just do what you like and accept that your wins/views/comments, etc. might not be as high as the pixelers, grunge folks, pre-fab filter freaks of our day. Because in the final analysis all that warm attention from media board folks has about as much value as...rs gp. We all like it, but we also know that we don't NEED it.

Basically everyone posts here to be recognized a bit. Nothing wrong with it, just don't stress over not being recognized.

Seriously though, the whole "maybe you don't like it because you always lose to it," and "you're just jealous you can't do it;" arguments are lame, try something new.

Actually I dont often get into arguments on what sig designs to like or not so no I haven't heard that one before.

I only thought of it after seeing the 6 or so times he tried to sell his stuff:

Yeah it helps if you have some samples and start out making free ones. But he will learn :)

Honestly though Razy, my first piece of advice would be to treat people with respect when you post. I wasted a bit of my life reading all your posts, and you are just too harsh.

You can give critiques without being a total jerk.
