Azvareth
Yeah. I was reading the "sigmaking is pathetic"-thread, and I realised that I perhaps should take my "art" more seriously. Because, if you take a glance at my sigmaking thread... not trying to sound bigheaded or anything, but the things I do there don't really make me justice, I think. So... I was looking around devART (guilty pleasure...) for inspiration. And well, I saw some great vector/simplistic art there, and since vector is something I've tried to stay away from; considering the fact that I seriously can't draw for [cabbage]. And I'm really not kidding; things like perspective and good use of colours is something I am utterly incapable of. But anyway, thanks to Wyrm, I managed to create something I actually liked. He was still somewhat unsure about it... but I don't see how I could add/alter anything that would make it look better. So... anyway, I like the concept of it, and I can proudly say that I made everything in it (I didn't create the font however :P). Here it is: As you might notice, I experimented a lot with the text. Had a blast with it. :P Feel free to give me any C&C and feedback on it, you may also use it as your own wallpaper should you wish. Thanks. // Azvi. tttia
I like it ;) without the apple would be a bit plain. And I am not sure what the apple means in this context..other than it is green! but as to what to add...it says SIMPLY green...and that it is! Keep working on that vector! (do this in ps?...ie..fake vector?)
Azvareth
Heh, thanks. Yeah, I made it in Photoshop 7.0... so I guess it's "fake" vector then. As for the apple... well, I thought about what to add that could reflect the green concept, and what poped into mind was apple. So I made one. >.< // Azvi. ColAvanor
I'd say that there is too little contrast with the text and the apple. (not a great fan of the apple anyhow :? ). The edges of the font are jagged. But I like the BG. Nice looking tech stuff!
Azvareth
Yeah... I resized and altered the text pretty much, hence the jagged edges. Thanks. // Azvi.

Witty-Fool
No offense meant at all, but, ...well, if you take away drawing skills, perspective, colours and pretty much all the technical aspects of graphic art, what do you have left? Some character and spirit, maybe a bit of motivation, a need to express oneself. Alright, Van Gogh! But the way I see it, you're not choosing simplistic art because you express yourself completely in it, like Wyrm or some of the other minimalism artists. You're choosing minimanlism here because it's the only option left, you can't do anything else. So why you're an artist? I'm not a fan of the Simply Green, btw, if you coudn't tell already. Azvareth
Witty, I didn't choose it because I couldn't do anything else, I chose it because I wanted to try something I have never even considered trying before. "Something" that perhaps looks a bit more professional than my other, usual crap. I honestly can't see the harm in that. As for questioning why I'm an "artist" (...?), thanks for that. However, I don't consider myself to be one. Just a hobby. Whether or not you find that stupid, I really don't care. Agresser, thanks. Princessa9, thanks. // Azvi. And azzy...try the daily sketch..even if you don't draw much usually you WILL get better.
SubDivi
It's not simple enough. XP Simplicity, or in other words, minimalistic art is an actual style of art as opposed to an art description. The funny thing about simplicity is that it doesn't have to be simplistic at all. Infact, simplicity can be more complex than some complex works. ^^; The key in minimalistic is contrast. Contrast in color, contrast in shapes, contrast in angles. The less contrast in a minimalistic piece, or in other words, the 'smoother' it is, the better. The best thing you can do, from a pro standpoint, is to find a way YOU like to present as an artist. Not something your good at. Not something thats easy. Not something that will get you more praise. Just something that will present the most fun for you.. In art, if you aren't enjoying yourself in what you do, then your art will suffer greatly. If you are truly enthusiastic then you will have to study art in any way you go about it.. whether digital painting, vector, traditional. I've never seen anyone pick up a paintbrush, look at a scenery, and paint a brilliant artistic representation. Nobody can simply learn or catch on to more than the basics of art. The people who have set the mold for us had spent their whole lifetime learning about their craft, and most likely had been studying the works and writings of those artists before them to hasten their own study. No longer do we even need 'raw talent', just sheer determination will suffice. Eh, sorry for the preaching. I get carried away like that. ^^;;
Dyronamics
I have to admit, simplistic designs are a lot easier to do than detailed ones..... ....doesn't stop them looking good though :) I think its got an almost shiny feel to it, but a slight fuzzyness on the text and having the background lines too sharp gives it a bit of a matte feel (yes like matte paint) AnywayI think it would be nice for a background (if my dam backround would actually show....) Dyronamics
Hmm.... Colours. The new text design means it now has a darker range of colours than the background that its on, try getting some darker green into the background. The apple, although its now in more realistic colours it doesnt look quite as good, give it a more obvious green skin and give the core a different shade, perhaps a darker white. Or remove the core  and put it back as the previous colour scheme. I'm vaguely wondering if the bottom left would look better with something more in it.... not sure but it does seem quite empty compared to the rest. Feel free to ignore anything I say if it doesn't sound right :) Superknight/Blademaster: Level 150; Hps: 132Theoretical damage per round: 234Highest recorded damage in one round:
Azvareth
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Hm, people said it needed more contrast between background and text... so, well, I tried doing that. :) As for the apple, I really like this one better. I think it adds a short of edge and contrast to the whole image - and the fact that it looks more "realistic" is a big plus as well, imo. I might follow up on the core-concept however; making it darker. Yeah, I was actually pondering what to add to the bottom left as well. But... since I figured it would require some kind of "free-standing" vector (i.e not line-art), I just let it be. :( I'm actually thinking of installing my sister's Illustrator on this computer (if she lets me). I haven't really worked with it before, but she bought a huge book about said programme, so I might do some exercises in it. Just for fun. Once again, thanks for the feedback. // Azvi.
