gonpost
Alright. First I want to point out that everyone who uses Windows has pirated material on their computer. Microsoft ripped some cheesy sounds from something and are getting sued for it. But, other than that, I think downloading is plain wrong. Look, if you support something you will buy it. Otherwise, how else do you expect to get anything else from that company. Sure, we could all download Half Life 2, but then would there ever be a HL3. No there wouldn't. You shouldn't download things, because you should pay for people's hard workd. Now, I must point out two more things. First, I think companies need to give customers a break. A brand new computer game a long time ago used to cost about $30. Now they are going for $50. I am sorry, but that deters a lot of people. A lot of people who play games don't have jobs. So scraping up that much money is a problem. I am not promoting downloading in any way, but I think some prices on things like games and CDs are getting rediculous. Now lastly, the ONLY time I can see downloading is if you have intent to buy. For instance, your parents are extremists and don't let you have music. So you download some of their stuff. When you turn 16 and get your liscence, you go out and buy it. That is the only time I can see downloading is alright. Even then, you should try to avoid it. But eventually you will pay for it, so I think this is alright in some cases. Really though, if you like a band, company, or piece of software, please go out and buy it. jak722
Internet cafes are well known for using only 1 copy of a program like counter-strike for all their computers. Well mostly all of their programs comes from a single CD anyways... yet they are allowed to do so. Ryan
a. It is not legal to mutil load on to more than one machine. The dongle is a hardware insurance policy. That is why companies buy liscenses for individual machines. Now on the other hand, while most companies want you to buy one copy for each machine, I have actually seen in print before (been a while, forget where) from a big name company that they are not OVERLY concerned if you load word on both your laptop and your home machine for instance. Not that they particularly want it, and of course I think most remember Microsoft's rollout of windows xp where they limited use to one ocmputer. They also started individual processor id's to enforce such things. But to load a copy of your friends onto yours...that is a different story. As far as bringing home a program...probably also no legal...unless he simply didn't use it at work anymore...then why not. As for not stopping them...no, probably can't stop them. But you can kick them off of boards where they promote it. At least then maybe some others won't feel emboldened by their example. First off, I'm not going to reply to everything cause I've been addressed in like 5 other posts before this. Considering the Photoshop is version 7 and not CS, my dad's company does not use it anymore. They have CS running at the office. Also, like I said, I do work for them so technically wouldn't it be like installing it at a comp at work? And fine, I won't endorse downloading. Do not steal programs people! tttia
i was going to download photoshop but i found it was illigal so i didnt, instead i found a copy of photoshop 5.5 (in the cd case like it was never opened) but alot of good that did me, i cant use it well >_< anyways, there is no way to stop people from stealing software thats out in the open. its like handing somebody 1000$ and asking them if you can have it back. so i have never bought a program that cost more then 50$ because i know something will go horribly wrong in the process of uploading it and... so game set and match, i guess we just talk about points we've already made now. This post is precisely why this kind of a thread is necessarty. a. it shows that some will in fact decide not to pirate once they understand the issues b. it shows that no program will make you a graphics great anyway. And ryan, yeah if they upgraded and you go the old one...lucky you! That is just fine.
