Forum Discrimination

Recommended Posts

Please be reminded to read the following posts, so that you understand that the text following was written beforehand, and since then racism, or related words should be replaced by discrimination or relating words.

Post:

Adam007's first post.

---------

Racism in real life, is a horrible thing, that a lot of humans regret having.

It seems the point, and issue I was trying to get across was very mis-understood, and which resulted in a flame towards me, and other users, so I will in time, try and figure out another way to word my text properly, then maybe the issue I was trying to get across will be made.

---------

Runescape racism is divided into two things. Rl racism, and account type racism. Rl racism is doing racism because of what someone is. Rs racism is calling pures noobs, or calling mains noobs, or something else immature like that.

I know Tifers won't like me saying this, but honestly, Tifers suck crap when it comes to being mature with rs racism. Tip.It doesn't tolerate Rl racism, and so I do not think Tip.It should tolerate rs racism. It makes Tip.It look bad, as its own users are a reflection of Tip.It, and what they say, even if its their own views, it reflects Tip.It greatly.

PA(A Clan), most members I asked in this clan greatly discourage using Tip.It because of the harassment they get posting on Tip.It. Please note, I only asked the ones who I thought were responsible posters. I would do the same on rsc, a forum that probably has 2/3s of all runescape pures, but it's against their rules to do what I would plan to do.

The reason I'm focusing mainly on pures, because I take level 3 skillers as pures as well. Although I can show rs racism with level 3 skillers, level three skillers who have no stat above 60, are greatly insulted, however those like Miner I are praised, greatly.

Most of Tip.It are skillers, at random I'd guess average combat on Tip.It is 90-100, with the average highest level to be 80-85. Yes, a lot of pures are immature, and very irresponsible, but I don't think the ones that do post maturely(yes, I'm self-proclaiming myself a mature poster) should suffer, and myself, and others infuriated at any topic that relates to pures that insults them, like recent PC topics.

Main's, Pures, Skillers, Pc-Products(the ones that still exist), Questers, and w/e else there is all deserve the same level of respect that each tifer gives each other.

So I'm basically suggesting Tip.It Admins enforce a rule to prevent users from committing rs racism. I mean, such a rule that punishes as hard as breaking the Rl racism rule.

Ty.

What you have written about has nothing at all to do with racism. I would even go so far as to say it seems ignorant to compare racism to the normal groupings that occur in RuneScape (and other similar games).

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

This is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. Racism is prejudice towards a race of people, which "lvl 3 skillers" are not. Why you would even care is beyond me anyway. And it's slightly insulting to be putting real racism on par with this actually.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Any post flaming/harassing an individual or group of people (specific type of pure or player) violates our rules anyway. If people are being harassed, they should report the post(s) and the chances are high that it will be removed.

But like all things, rules only do so much. Some people choose not to follow them at all, so you naturally can't expect everyone not to flame each other because the rules say you can't. But again, if you see someone flaming another person or group of people, report their post/thread so we can handle it.

Like I said, Rs racism, not rl racism. Racism is different in games, and varies in many things.

race? Racism is about race, religions, and anything someone wants to insult about what a person is. Translate this into a game, and those variables are put as mains, pures, level 3 skillers.

Yes, I know this, and it seems that users don't even take into account that they may be insulting someones account-type. So I'm merely suggesting a rule, to make it stand out further, and possibly warn users before insulting that genre of players.

Back onto the topic: What you are judging is not Tip.It itself, but rather its community. Also, a small group of people are the ones that hate pures and other groups (I am not one of them, I will add). To use an extreme, and probably partially inaccurate, analogy that still describes the point, that's almost like saying that places like Los Angeles, and other cities with large number of Drug Dealers, are filled with 'druggies' because there is a small group of people who sell the drugs and another group that use those drugs.

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

In a city like LA, I'm pretty sure in one month 3/4s of the citizens do some form of a drug...=S. I'm sorry but this is probably true...

I was never saying Tip.It was the problem, I was hoping my words could imply that I meant some community members, and not Tip.It.

People arn't hateful just because someone is level 3. :?

This has no similarity to racism in real life. Blacks got enslaved, beaten, unfairly treated in the past. Jewish people have litterally burned, and even some Muslims are racist toward the US. People are actually being killed or injured to to racism. No one is hurt over disliking someone's account. :|

People are being physically hurt. I hate to tell everyone but racism is emotional, and physical.

In runescape someone who flames another person who has low confidence or low self-esteem, will be hurt emotionally, and by what they were flamed, or insulted upon could be the Rs Racism.

Please don't tell me, people worry about RS that much that they feel emotionally and even physically (I don't know how thats even possible - just quoting you) hurt when their character is insulted over the internet, because the user has chosen to train one stat rather than another?

If that's true, than Runescape has gone downhill that quickly since I've left its almost hilarious - in a disgraceful way. Too many sensitive kiddies. :uhh:

Eel, not everyone has enough confidence in themselves to not take insults about their account. I wouldn't be surprised if older teenagers got a little mad at the insults. :-#

You don't have to be sensitive to be emotionally effected.

Do you know what physical means? :|

You can't get physically abused over the internet.

I wasn't even talking about being physical, I was talking about emotional.

Maybe you mis-understood my explanation?

Maybe you arn't reading my post clear enough. I was saying this isn't on a scale at all like real life. Also I've never seen "Runescape Racism" :|.

So you've not seen someone call a pure, stupid, immature, or something along that line, solely because they are a pure?

I'm not talking about a pure mouthing off, I'm talking about stereo-typing the pure, in which I call RuneScape Racism.

Your right, its in no way on the scale that real life racism is, but it still exists.

Look up the word racism. I think you'll find afterwards you'll be pretty embarrassed. This "Rs racism" term you've coined is the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day. Whether or not people are judging people differently based on their experience in the game has nothing to do with race. So please stop using buzz words like racist when someone being level 3 has nothing to do with their race. And think about changing the thread title too if you want to retain any credibility on this big important issue.

You're thinking of discrimination here. I wouldn't call it a real issue of discrimination, because the word already has a needlessly bad connotation, but what you're talking about has nothing to do with race. Just you being self important about groups in the game you may fall into that really for some reason you're insecure about and think people actually care one way or the other. This activist act you're trying to pull is pretty lame. People will always pick on new guys or give them a hard time. You don't need to storm into here bringing nonsense political correctness about racism that doesn't even apply.

Okay, this is where I get lost...self important, insecure, and activist act. I'm being self important because I post a concern, and am trying to get the point across with little success, for many are trying to, and rightfully so, criticizing this concern of mine. I'm insecure? I don't know even know what, or where you got this from? Activist act? I'm flattered, but I really don't think I'm being an activist.

Also, I didn't get the part about the new guy? I'm not storming in here, If I were, I'd be posting numerous topics that are quite pointless-I do not see this one as pointless-political correctness about racism? Yes, I was off on racism, and probably shouldn't have used such a strong word, but at the time I saw it fitting.

Anyways, I'll change the title to Forum Discrimination. Hopefully that suits everyone better...

Just wanted to point out that Tifers make up Tip.it, so yeah I know what you meant but you point out two different groups. You first said Tifers as a whole, then switched it to a few members. So what is it?

On other points, you will never obtain a Utopian Society with in a forum. There will always be disagreement to what people think (what you call discrimination.) People think skilling is more fun then combat and vice versa. While there is nothing wrong with having fun while playing a game with in the rules, people will always disagree with you. (I bet someone disagrees with the statement I just said  ) Really you just have to get over the fact that it happens. About those who are emotionally "hurt" I wouldn't doubt that there a few people that could be by this. But if they are I would guess they are of the younger group that plays, and during that time period in life, you will get hurt. I personally have never been emotionally hurt from RS, never even realized it was a problem (I still don't think it is a problem to worry about.) If people are getting "hurt" on this game, then they are not ready to play. Trying to discourage other players is inevitably part of the game to some players. If they can't handle it, I don't believe they are mature enough to play with other people.

A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

Alright, I'll needlessly elaborate.

Self importance - You're taking this nonexistant issue as being an important one. You're saying you belong to a group that people are being racist to. You're creating a conflict that doesn't exist and talking like you're here to try to reinstate order to a world of hate.

Insecure - You're making a big deal out of what in my opinion isn't really an issue. You're acting upset like you've been wronged. If you actually take offense to what people say to you, that means you believe some of it to be true. If you actually believe that you're worth less because of your levels that's pretty insecure.

Activist - Acting like one, using flowery words like racism to describe the interactions of kids in a game just isn't necessary. This whole thread is unnecessary. Me typing this out is unnecessary. You're not going to change the fact that sometimes a level 100 won't take a level 20 that seriously. Putting in a rule on these forums that punishes people for being borderline impolite won't effect how people post. With just a username, avatar, and signature you don't need to show your level here. That's what's great about these forums. People treat you a certain way based on your maturity and how you act. Not on your level, unless you want to show it.

Also, I didn't get the part about the new guy? I said you're storming in here because you're the first person I've heard acting like this is a pressing issue. I didn't say you were new here, nor do I agree that new people make mass pointless topics. It sounds to me like you're taking a few isolated incidents and generalizing them into a nonexistent problem as if it urgently needs a fix.

I'm not trying to reinstate order to a world of hate, if that was possible, I think we'd all be dead. Nonexistant issue? If you didn't believe in this issue, you wouldn't be posting on this topic, would you?

Insecure - You're making a big deal out of what in my opinion isn't really an issue. You're acting upset like you've been wronged. Not an issue? this is one-sided view I think? I do not think I'm worth less then my levels, nor am I the subject of this topic, stay on-topic...

Yes, it will affect how people post, if there was no rule against foul language, a lot of users would at some point use foul language, but because of the G forum, users don't use foul language? So any rule made, will affect how someone posts...?

I said you're storming in here because you're the first person I've heard acting like this is a pressing issue. I'm very sad to hear I'm the only person you've heard talking about this issue. It is a problem, and it should be fixed, I don't think you see it as I do.

I saw an issue, I thought about it, and I thought the forums could do with some form of a rule to go against this. But seeing as most users would like the insulting to continue, I'd rather have this locked.

Also if topic is locked, please review the first post, at the top, and read the first paragraph. I don't think users got my point, or issue I was trying to make...
