Capone_Sabre
Hello. I need some advice on the fastest way of training smithing. There are three main strategies I am pondering which are the following: 1. Smelting gold ore with the family crest gauntlets. 2. Smithing 1 bar mithril items (such as bolts) 3. Smithing steel plates. I can work out the costing for this but what I am not really sure about is the speed since I haven't done any smithing since classic. I am fairly sure that #3 will be the fastest but I'd appreciate it if any smithers out there could give me approximate xp/hour rates so that I can make a more informed judgement. Thank you. :D Capone Sabre since April 2001.99 Attack, Defence, Strength and Hitpoints Achieved January 2005. When it still meant something. The_Kuniva
Gold is faster, but you lose money.. Mith bolts gain a small profit, So you need to decide if you want levels quickly, or economically. Don't do steel plates unless you enjoy throwing money away.
Capone_Sabre
I know the first 2 for a fact. but i think the 3rd 1 is 30k too. :-k 1. 50K xp 2. 30K xp 3. 30K xp I think Really? I would have thought steel plates would be fairly fast? :-k Based on that I won't be going for the mith bars, that'd cost me 30 hours extra even if I only went for 85. Gold is faster, but you lose money.. Mith bolts gain a small profit, So you need to decide if you want levels quickly, or economically. Don't do steel plates unless you enjoy throwing money away. Well I've done the financial calculations and it seems to me that gold ore costs roughly 8gp per xp gained whereas steel plates cost around 11gp per xp gained (assuming the bars/plates are sold) so if steel plates are a lot faster I'd do that. I always try and strike the best balance between time and money, since of course, time is money. Freesia
Master smither was wrong. 1. 56k/hr 2. Not very sure 3. Somewhere around 90k/hr Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.
Lenticular_J
If you use the gold way, you could make quite a bit of money, and train crafting. Just make rings/amulets, etc. Not much, but I don't know a whole lot about smithing. And by the way, master smither has 99 smithing...I kind of believe him more. :? catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
kdb148
But he's wrong, and I'm pretty sure he's never smelted gold ore or smithed plates in mass quantities. You make WAY more than 30k per hour making steel plates, you can smith at least 2k bars per hour into plates, which is 75k per hour if you do steel, 100k if you do mith. 1canadian1
For steel plates its 60k/hr and gold ores is around 45k-50k/hr. RSN: Zammyftw ^^The girl that ruined music.
Capone_Sabre
Yes I was thinking about making amulets out of the bars. I think that would be slow compared to just buying blue leathers though. :-k I'd decided to buy enough gold ores for 85. Why? Well it is slightly cheaper and although it is slower than steel plates it is still good xp in itself. Judging by these posts, it will only take about 40 or so hours, of which I can AFK constantly. Also, i'd rather smelt in peace in Neitznot then be bothered in varrock or yanille. :P Thanks for the replies everyone. :) Capone Sabre since April 2001.99 Attack, Defence, Strength and Hitpoints Achieved January 2005.
