it usually takes me 3 trips meleeing with black hides with monkfish to finish a task. What inv do should i bring to finish the task in 1-2 trips without having to spend much money on prayer pots?

They drop enough ranarrs to cover the cost of the prayer pots so I would just use prayer.

Exacly! just take max pray bonus+about 4-5 (4) dose p pots and leave when your inventory is full of cool l00t...or out of p pots...they are a very nice task

Specifically:

I go with proselyte body and legs, zammy book, slayer mask, and whip. I bring about 4 prayer pots (4) and some combat pots. Pray mage protect and whip away. By the time I've run through all the prayer pots, I have a full inventory of herbs. They drop ranarr very frequently, so for instance if I had about 5 prayer pots, I usually end up with 6-8 ranarr. So a slow but steady way to increase your prayer pots. Add in the profit from the lava battlestaffs and mystic drop, and its one of the better slayer tasks.

But my prayer is 57, so it does last long enough. And my herblore is high enough to identify ranarr and make ppots - if yours isn't, that is a bit of a problem.

Mask?? you mean salve amulet? You NEED nosepeg to fight the spectres.

You are missing something very important here if you are using black hides AND praying at the same time.

If you pray against magic, then they will not hurt you, then there is no point in wearing black hides - instead you should wear stuff to make your prayers drain as slow as possible which means get as high prayer bonus as you can, proselyte armour if you have it, if not monk robes is fine and cheap. You should also kill them as quickly as possible which means maxing out your offensive bonus, salve amulet since it increase strenght and accuracy against undead, zammy book which has both prayer bonus and offensive bonus, boots with strenght bonus. My setup when going there is usally proselyte armour, whip, rune boots, zammy prayerbook, salve amulet and nosepeg, similar to what sevenphotos and x_martins_x suggested.

If you DONT use protection prayers, that is when you should wear armour with best possible magic defence you have. Some people with high combat prefer to melee in black hides, eat when needed - and not use prayer unless there is an emergency.

Please think before you ask a question. If you ask the right question, its much more likely you get the answer you are looking for :)

I take monks robes (yes I'm cheap) and a rune defender because my zammy book is incomplete. DDS for specials is optional. With 103 combat and 61 pray, I take super strength, super attack and 2 prayer potions (4) and they'll last until I have an inventory full of herbs (above harralander, I drop the rest). When I'm almost out of inventory room for herbs, seeds etc, I let prayer drain to 0 fighting the spectres. I also take a house tele and teleport there to have prayer recharged and then leave via my Kharyll portal to bank.

Remember to do the "Tarn's lair" mini quest. It will get you 5000 slayer exp, and the ability to upgrade your salve amuet, making it even better to fight the undead.

Especially when you are a herblorist :) . I wear Karils, bring 10-15 monks and only use some prayer when my inventory is not full yet with seeds&herbs. Usually I do around 3 trips for a 150-180 task. Why waste prayerpotions if I need to bank my seeds&herbs anyway?

To add to what other are saying.

This is my setup

God Cape - Just in case I'm mid fight and I run out of prayer (pots).

Rune Gloves - The best RFD gloves I can get.

Salve ammy (e) - The best necklace/ammy for these

Proselyte plate body and legs - Max prayer bonus items I have.

Nose peg - You really need this

Whip - Fast and strong, making it perfect here.

Zammy book - Good prayer and stat bonus', guthix book is second best here.

Rune Boots - For the strength bonus (I would use climbing boots, but I'm too lazy to go fetch a pair)

Ring of wealth - More rare drops, you could replace this with the Dag rings if you have one.

In my inventory I normally take;

*Agility pot (I'm only 58)

*Home tele runes - Home tele prayer at alter and tele to canifis, bnak and go again.

*DDS - For the spec, I'll be replacing this will DB axe and a super att soo.

*1 monkfish (in case of lag or random)

*1 p pot (4) - I collect everything apart from marrentills and guams.

[hide=Drops]

  • Dragon Axe x11
    Berserker Ring x9
    Warrior Ring x8
    Seercull
    Dragon Med
Dragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kc
    Godsword Shard (bandos)
    Granite Maul x 3

Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats]

prayer book, monks robes, super att, super str, whip and something on your feet, and black d'hide body and legs, 1 prayer pot, the rest cheap food such as salmon, dramen staff. teleport to camelot.

Of course, i wear nosepeg. Also have berserker instead of ROW. Usually leave my fury at home so I can use glory for edgeville teleport. And runeboots.

I teleport to edgeville. go to the fairy ring. Go to the slayer tower.

I first wear my black d'hide and no protection prayer. Just use my cheap food. I collect all herbs avantoe and above.

If my food runs out I switch to monks robes and protection against magic prayer.

Usually I can fill my inventory before my free prayer runs out. I teleport to camelot. Get new free prayer (don't have a house where i can top up prayer.). Go back to edgeville, stock up on cheap food/dump the load of herbs. back to the slayer tower with the fairy ring.

It's not fast though. I need 3 runs this way. It is cheap though since you only need the prayer pot you take along occasionally.

The only way to do it fast is to use prayer pots all the way and ignore most drops since you will get much more nice herbs than you can carry. You could just collect the rannars and above.

I usually don't opt for staying there for one long session since I usually also get a clue scroll and I train herblore. So I want my nice herbs.
