Well, straight to the point here-

I'm going to start learning the Piano again. I used to learn it a while ago but i gave up because my music teacher was so boring and uninspiring.

But i've found a good music teacher, and and i'm going to start again just '

because it's a cool instrument when you can play it well, and i like the sound :D

Maybe when I become good at playing it i might film myself and slap it on youtube....

I need some tips though o.O

I played Piano for five years.

Hated it. Don't remember a thing.

So...uh.... moral. Stick to it, cause if you stop, it's unlikely that you'll start again, and if you get lazy with the learnin's it ain't gunna help ya. Keep with it, and practice often, not just ten minutes before the weekly session starts :-w .

I'm almost exactly the same, Reb. Went through several teachers, and many years and hours wasted on practice. I quit about two-three years ago, and now don't remember a thing. But good luck to you, if you have a lively, not boring teacher, and actually enjoy it, then it'll be fun.

Good luck with it! I love the piano, I just hated learning it. Parents pushed me to finish all my grades, so I finished them after 11 years and never touched the piano again. It's sad because I'd love to play, but I can't stand to sit down to do it.

I hope you enjoy it enough to just keep practising. Perfect practice makes perfect so my teacher always used to say. Oh and if you're doing grades, make sure you buy a few books you like to sightread from. Sightreading is something I failed at constantly, but is the skill I'd most like to have.

Piano is a really cool instrument. I took lessons myself, but the only thing I've really wanted to do on it is just sit down and.. play. Just like random stuff or songs I've heard. Unfortunately I have no musical talents to speak of so it was pretty difficult and I hated practicing, so I stopped also.

OT: You said you are getting a pretty good piano teacher, so why are you asking a bunch of random people for tips? Only thing anyone would probably do here was give you some links, but you could easily find some on google. Youtube even has a ton of How To things for piano to help you out.

Been playing 10 years, but i never really had my heart in it until maybe last year... I stopped because i hated the classical stuff, only do it if your going to enjoy it. It's great being able to pop round to people's places and play and sing pop songs that everyone knows, can you sing? Because if u can it opens up so much more things that you can do. Being able to jump in a band and sight read chords and stuff is a big bonus as well, i often have to do it for the school's jazz band or gigs for parties and stuff. As Runescape_Rocks said, improvisation is awesome fun. If you can't play the chords yourself, download jazz backing tracks to play along to. Just remember to have fun :D

Good luck with you're piano. I took a few years of lessons, but I quit because I didn't like practicing and quite honestly, my teachers were crazy <.< . I still like to play some stuff when I feel like it though.

If you don't like it, stop right now and find a new hobby. Never spend your free time with something you don't want to. :wall: That simply does not make sense.

Try to be consistent, but don't let the routine bore you.

I'd really like to take guitar lessons, but being in high school is just too much pressure for me at the time. Maybe when I'm in college...
