The Guide to Effective Pking- F2P-

 

 

 

I)Introduction- This guide was created to make and show the basics of pking and how to go further then that to reap profits. Some of these ideas can be costly and dangerous but there are alternative methods which cost much cheaper which i will lay out. Eitherway wether you have cash or not, good skills are needed with a decent combat level. In my opinion YOU MUST BE OVER COMBAT 60 (or a pure with Cb 50+) AS THIS RETRIEVES MORE PROFITABLE ARMORS, AMMYS, WEAPONS,RUNES ARROWS, ETC.

 

 

 

 

 

II)Equipments /Required stats-

 

*More Expensive Set up-

 

 

 

1)Melee/Range- non-pure - Must have 50-60 range+ or you won't hit if they run. Use of melee to fight foes while ranging them while they protect pray or run (very common in free worlds)

 

-A rune pl8, green d hide chaps, rune kite and str ammy or power ammy.A rune scimmy, a maple short bow and arrows of your choice. You can use green vams too or colored gloves, fighting boots and a coif or rune med helm. A str pot to use as well as a bow with a few 100 arrows equiped. Food above lobbies or swordies.

 

 

 

2)Range/ Melee- Pure - Have have 60+ range and 50+ att and str. Using range and switching with melee helps if they use protect spells and can nail good hits depending on what your opponent is wearing.

 

-A leather body or monk robe/ mage top, green d hide vams and chaps. A rune scimmy and a maple short with higher leveled arrows. A power ammy. A cowl or a mage hat if you want. Food and tele runes. Bind runes and a str pot if you want and the rest of the invent of food.

 

 

 

 

 

3)Mage/ Range- Pure- Most effective in pures from my experience so i suggest this one for pures as there is a good alternative to owning all types of pkers. With a range of 55-60+ you hit fairly good with mith and addy arrows and if your opponent protects you can mage with fire blast which hits very nicely and your armor doesn't clash with your mage too much. You can also cast bind too if you want for less hits on you and so your foe can't run away.

 

- A blue mage robe and hat. Green d vamps and chaps.A power ammy. Runes for your best spell and bind/tele runes. Maple short bow and best arrows you can afford. Lots of food above lobbies.

 

 

 

4)Mage/ Melee- Non- pure- From experience I know this doesn't work out real good as the armor clashes with the attack, some people perfer to use it though and i say if ur not a member don't. Nevertheless i have to show this in my guide. For combat try to get 60 str and attack as this will help you hit alot making you less likely to use magic. And magic should be 60 for fire blast. I suggest when getting ready to mage do not set auto cast as this wastes to much time(if you brought a staff), and to unequip your plate and legs, as this will make ur mage boost balance itself.

 

- Full rune with rune scimmy. Runes for bind and spell of your choice(perfered above fire bolt). Some food and a str pot. Tele runes if you want. Be ready to start the fight with melee and after you eat some food be ready to take off the rune pl8 and legs. Then blast some magics. Very tricky to use but if you have tried maging with armor you know what i mean.

 

 

 

-The rest of your inventory beside the weapons,runes and arrows should be food and maybe a str pot or two if you want. I shouldn't have to say it but i feel someone might ask.

 

 

 

- Try to get 43 prayer and this saves your life one to many times in the wildy, the higher the better, though a holy amulet and monk robes always makes it last longer.

 

 

 

- In the end i say only these 4 are all the types you will need to pk. You may mix all three but in my opinion you will die no matter what using the Magic/Melee stategy cause everything will clash with each other. You melee armor will not support your magic, and if you use range/mage armor with all three you will most likly take lots of hits and be healing more then fighting. Though if you pratice you can win, but in my opinon i really do not recommend this and if you die i will not like to be blamed for it.

 

 

 

*This is called the expensive set up because I recommend you use at least 1 item which is semi-rare and expensive such as a Str Ammy T to lure people (not abusing the power or going against the rules because you should only pass by lv 1 wildy and people lower or sometimes higher lvs will see you equiped nicely and they will go after you.

 

 

 

*Inexpensive pking armors-

 

- Alternatives to the expensive part include......

 

 

 

*Instead of god armor, you can use plain rune.

 

*Instead of power/ str ammys you can use holy amulets or ammies of accuracy

 

*Instead of magic robes t you can use plain robes or monk robes or priest gowns

 

*Instead of green d hide t you can use plain green d hide ( though for this i say buy the chaps for 50k of the forums and acutally use as most f2p rarely see this and when they try to buy scammers try and sell for 500k-1m, so you can try and pk with this to get some attension.

 

* Instead of using mith/addy arrows you can buy steel/iron arrows as this is cheaper and you can buy a little more though a higher range might be required to pk. For mage you can also try using fire bolts instead of fire blast as you can cast 2:1 fire bolts opposing the blast by using your cash to buy the runes for it.

 

 

 

*Stat over view - Highly recommended you have these....

 

Att-60+

 

Str-55-60+ (not much of a big deal as str pots can help increase it)

 

Def- 45-50+

 

Hp- 60+

 

Range- 55-60+

 

Mage- 59-60+

 

Prayer- 43+ ( doesn't have to be so high but it helps)

 

 

 

- Combat 60+ as well as experience pking helps.

 

 

 

III)How to go on pking/Evaluation-

 

 

 

1) Using melee- You will need to use a scimmy for hits. Scimmys are good on mages and rangers because they have good boosts in what mage/range armors are weak in. As for fighting meleers its sorta 50-50. A long sword might be perfered in this situation. Battle axes,2hs and warhammers shouldn't be used cause they are too slow. Not much to say about how to use this, all you do is attack first or be attacked second. The second attack is usually first if you are well equiped or have something the opponent wants or if he wants to just kill you. Fight him normally as you would with a monster. Pray when your food gets half of its starting amount, heal when your hp falls lower then half your max and pot up on str. If you want to use a rune dagger on mages or rangers you can but you should have a higher str and a decent attack. The speed of the dagger will easily give hits if you have a good str and your opponenet has only magic robes or ranging armor.

 

 

 

2) Using range- A maple short bow with addy or mith (steel if you want to be cheaper) arrows. You will have to find a safe spot or an area where you can hit a few shots to get your opponenet to waste some food and take some damage. Afterwords fight normally like always. Hit them using rapid if your range is higher, but if its averaged using accurate. Never use long range and you should be fine. Heal when your hp drops half its normal amount and pray when you are losing half your food or feel in danger. You should mix some magic with this, specifically bind.

 

 

 

3) Using magic- A fire staff with the runes for the spell you want to use(bolts or blasts only). Use the same methods as range and take cover behind natures obstacles. Once you get fighting, bind and run a little away from your opponenet, so he has to run to you. This will let you hit him more and give you time to heal if you must. Becareful when people who can hit you are around because when you do this they will hop in the fight when you bind and run. Heal when your hp is lower then half like the other skills, pray when you are losing food and when you need to.

 

 

 

- You can mix up the skills but its up to you to learn how you want to do it. I laid out possible ways in section II.

 

 

 

IV) Where to pk-

 

 

 

Now that we got all that boring stuff out of the way lets discuss the real deal, where to go then how to do it. First of all most important is the world you choose. Never and i mean never go to world 1,2-5 as these are the locations of teaming and running away people. If you want to pk, you got to act like you aren't pking. Do this by hopping to a less crowded world. Many people always go the the least crowded world and bring some fair good stuff and they are easy to kill targets but a bind is nessesary as they might make break for it or try to log out before you can get them.

 

 

 

Also beware of two people who are pking together in non-multi combat zones as they will have you running back and forth between both of them while they heal. In cases like these I say run unles you want to gamble....you will have to be binding both in series. Bind both of them over and over till you make a good distance between you and them (so you are in between and they are separated and binded) Then you bind one, and launch and fire blast. Then go to the other and repeat. This is hard as you got 5 seconds to do this and bind might fail if they protect from mage or have range armor, etc.

 

 

 

Secondly and most importantly beware of 3 itemers. They are your easiest prey as they won't run or tele. They usualy go to the wildy to lose nothing but if you play it smart they can lose everything. Attack them first, as they won't hit you first. Then they will fight you back most of the time just to see if they win. You must let them get some hits and run, as if you were making a break for it into the farther wildy away from trees. While you run, if he follows he will have to click attack on your name and if you keep running and doing htis he will eventually get skulled. Then stop running an teach that noob whos boss. Bind him and use the strategies based on what

 

type of pking you are doing. I say range as you will lose lots of food but in the end reap those good 3 items lol. I say only use this on rune armors and treasure trail items as they are very profitable if you sell but remember you must practice this to make it work.

 

 

 

Now where to strike.....

 

 

 

1) Bandit Camp- (lv 19-24 wildy)- This is an extremely nice place to pk as you can get food here (pizza) if you have a fairly nice cooking lv. There are rats which you can kill to make meat pizzas and a fishing spot for anchovies which you can fish at to make anchovie pizza. Anchovie pizza requires a cooking lv in the 50s but is highly worth it cause these babies heal very high and have two bites. I would tell how much but you got to try it to believe it ;) . Its nice as you can heal when low on food and re-stock up on it and there is a pk spot for rangers/ mages in the north west part of the camp. You can get some quick hits on your opponent there and bind them. And since its past the 20 wildy they can't tele! The downside is the bandits there are aggresive like all monsters in the wildy and its multi combat, so don't really try this unless you bring a friend or two. Also you can train on the bandits for fun, i would do it unless your a pure as they hit too much and are in groups.

 

 

 

2) Dark Warriors Fortress- (Lv 15 wildy) locate right above edgeville and right under the bandit camp. This is a nice place to pk as lots of people are around here and you can tele if you are about to die, sadly so can your opponents. Its multi combat so its also kinda bad but good parts replace all this. There are runes in the house and people who pick the runes, so what do you do......get those poor rune picking people ! obviously you won't get anyone if the see you comming so....go in the castle and upstairs. Log out and hop worlds, remember my world chosing policy. Also to the west of it there are non multi combat zones, which can be tricky if you get teamed.

 

 

 

3) Chaos Temple/Alter - (lv 22 wildy above varrock)- Very nice place to pk with prayer. Just use protect spells on your opponent but downside is he will use them back on you if he can. Another good thing about this place is, you can find bones all around, so when your not in combat pick em up and bury for good prayer exp. Also you may hide behind the alter to get some shelter while ranging and maging.

 

 

 

4) Hill giants area - (lv 19-22 wildy...not too sure about this one)- A decent place to pk. I don't recomend it as most pkers here team and are really good. Try it once maybe with just a bow and 100 bronze arrows. It has protection for rangers and mages but mostly low levels come here and ambush each other or the occasional pker you meet who "wants to train at hillies"

 

 

 

5) Rune Mining sites- (lv 45 wildy by lava maze)- A very dangerous gamble... do not try with lots of good stuff cause you will hate me if you die. Try these places because the people mining ores are half the time unprepared to fully fight people off. Just stick to the basics and you will own them fast. The rune ores sell for more then 10k alone so if they mined half and inventory or so its fast cash. But make sure after you do get a kill leave.....don't risk losing your ores and because the next kill might have a full inventory and then you can't pick it all up wasting a few thousands.

 

 

 

6) Lava Maze- (Begins 38 wildy and goes on to 45)- Why do i recomend this place.....O yea because they have steel pl8s and earth staffs lying around! just bring a weapon with a slash style and cut the webs and go through. Not only are there lessers here and other nice monsters to train on there is a chest which can be opened with a muddy key (can be sold for 50k in free worlds sometimes, do not buy as you can get them easy from chaos dwarfs which are right above the bandit camp). The chest includes...a uncut ruby, a mith bar, a anchovie pizza, some deaths, chaos and laws( not too much), a mith dagger and some cash. Its not a friendly reward to go that far for but people do it and you can kill them. The downside of trying to kill these people is, they run. The maze isn't as open and easy to navigate if your trying to kill someone, so bind if you want or just play it risky. They usually have a good sum of steel pl8s and earth staffs. If you want em keep them if not alch away. High alching steel pl8s fletchs 1.2k ea and earth staffs alch for 900gp. You can also sell these if you don't want to waste your nature runes.

 

 

 

7) Demonic Ruins- (Lv45 wildy)- Very dangerous and i recomend never getting skulled if you come here. The pkers here are usually well equiped and loaded so you must develope some pking skills before comming here. And if you start getting some kills leave and don't come back! People swarm there way there like flies, in minutes you will die if you get too greedy. Also there are greater demons here. The best f2p monster which can drop rune items,so if you want to train there but not pk, bring lower level items and don't get skulled. So if you get a rune battle axe but die to a pker you will keep the battle axe!

 

 

 

IV) Tips, Strategies and Tricks....

 

1) Build and ambush.....i don't know if this is against the rules but if your friend is going pking with some people you guys don't know, ask him if you and him can kill them at a certain spot in the wildy. Its not wildy luring unless your friend tells them to come to wildy for stuff or something with there best armor. So let them bring anything they want and then when you hit the planned ambush spot pick the most equiped ones with the most profitable items and kill them. Also nailing weaker people in the group is a must as they die fast and easy profits unless they have nothing good or are making a break for it.

 

 

 

2) Most other places have occasion pkers around, who are just browsing or looking around. Once in a while you will run into a pker who goes into the far wildy with everything good he has on and some tele runes thinking he will tele when he is about to die, not knowing you can't tele after 20 wildy. Own these people and look out for them, they are nifty profits.

 

 

 

3) Try using 2 maybe (3 if you can handle it) types of combat styles instead of one, as this helps when your opponent is using protection spells. He will be healing, and switching prayers and unless he realises its not working you will own him.

 

 

 

4) Try staying out in open areas, away form trees, so its harder for your opponent to escape form your attacks so he can log out or get in tele range.

 

 

 

5) Bring binds, no matter what bring a few binds as this scares your opponent and causes them to have a melt down, which makes them try to keep running away (or move) then fight. Take your chances and fight them unless you are close to 20 wildy. This is kinda hopeless as he will keep healing till you run out then he will run and tele unless you have a good 10-20 binds and use them fairly well.

 

 

 

6) Try teaming with some good friends who won't let you down or backstab you . Its faster killings, less cash used and safer though the profits must be shared fairly with everyone or good team work will be messed up over a few thousand gold which shouldn't be done espcially if they are friends.

 

 

 

7) Use your enviornment to your advantage, when losing in out of tele range wildy run between some trees to lose your opponent. Hide behind some things which can be used to attack from a distance and provide a barrier (alters, fallen trees, rocks, etc)

 

 

 

8) Remember the triangle of pking.....

 

-Range beats mage - Mage beats Melee and - Melee beats ranged

 

Don't get me wrong...this isn't always true but you got an advantage if following it.

 

 

 

9) If using melee never and i mean never use battle axes or 2hs for ko's as they are slow and a scimmy can do the job just as good with a str pot and some prayer.

 

 

 

10) When you are scared of dying run, you don't always have to keep your honor, and you must know your limits.

 

 

 

11) When teaming in single combat zones with you at an advantage, attack your opponent and run then let your friend do the same. Keep doing this till you kill him. This saves food and is easy if practiced. ( Try this at the rune fortress as to the west there is a single combat zone.)

 

 

 

12) If there are no trees or other surroundings which you can use to shelter yourself with, bind your opponent and run. Keep doing this till he is at a farther distance and till you build up enough run energy to leave.

 

 

 

13) A great strategy for pking is bait pking. It doesn't work too fine in free worlds but its always fun to try with items like addy and mith. You can try rune too but i suggest don't. Drop them in a line leading further in the wildy so instead of fighting they go to pick it up. The person will waste their food to pick up the items and you must try hard to kill him fast. Stay outta 25 and under wildy because when they get their fill of items they will tele or run.

 

 

 

14) The most important thing you must do when pking in keep things under control. Keep your prayer at least halfs it max level, your hp higher then half its max, your arrows and runes in stock and most importantly your food and inventory space in check. Sometimes you must drop things to get things. Its in your best jugdement to decide. If you are going to need your lobby to get out instead of those 50 addy arrows, take the lobster, that one lobby may be all you need you need to safely make it out of the wildy with the rest of your hard earned items . Also alching away some junk is always good too, try this when you have profitable junk which you might throw away.

 

 

 

15) Always observe the landscape before trying to fight there, this will give you and edge of how to use the surroundings and safe spots.

 

 

 

16) Always bring tele runes even if you go past lv 20 wildy. Once you get a kill and want to head back, you might be low on food and have recieved good items. You will most likely be running and eventually run out of energy and maybe take lots of hits. Once you get to 20 wildy you should just tele away to get out of the wildy. You can try home-tele but if you get attacked you might as well just try fighting the person off or running. Home-tele highly not recomeneded. Also i think if you bring a skull skepter you can tele from 30 wildy and under. Not sure but i think it has the same affect as member ring of deuls and glories. Still you can always bring those, as they aren't too hard to get and they are 1 inventory space.

Pures don't get 126 combat... Mains do. Anyways, wouldn't you rather kill the enemy rather then running away? Also, unless ur luring people....NEVR BRING GOD ARMOUR OR (T) armour. You basically attract people to kill you, and unless u have a tean, ur basically losing expensive stuff for no reason. I mean, its like taking a party hat to the DK's

yes, i know pures never get 126 cb cause they have no def... but if ur like most players and you want to get prayer exp just cause its a stat you can train it.

 

 

 

And the point of bring god armors is to attract pkers but yes....i said in my cheaper item section you can bring alternatives to the exact items. Same boost but cheaper. Also less attraction :(

Also pantim this guide is for pking with the mains too so the prayer tip is not so bad.

Prayer might not be that good, but if you can do the protection prayers and the save 1 item prayer, that can help a lot. Plus, prayer is designed so it barely gives you any combat lvl increase. If you got your prayer to lvl 43, your combat would would only be 3-5 higher, and thats worth it!

Bait pking is not a good idea at all. It is not smart to go into the wildy with full sets of good armor, and then just drop it. The opponent will just take a bunch and teleport. You would end up broke if you used this method. 9/10.

Also, its called luring. BAsically you ware expensive stuff, get people to attak you, then run into a multi combat area, and team pwns them. IF your PKing solo, don't do it lol.

it's a decent guide, but it doesen't tells the ways to pk effectively, pking is based on making a ko mostly, and no one would be dumb to go with god/traimmed armours pking, don't talk about prayer cause praying in non multi is totally no honor, is not necessary to bring second combat style, cause of prayer.

......if you can't afford it then use cheaper stuff, its sad i have to say that. How hard is it to lose 100-200 addy arrows? Buying from the store alone at remmington is much cheaper then losing a rune scimmy. If you complain about something so cheap you should just quit this game or let alone don't pk. Pk with anything you have like i said.....

Add pics maybe? And really who wears god armor into the wildy, who gives a damn if it attracts more people to you. That isn't a good thing. You want good kills without being PJ'ed like crazy. And you sdaid August 15, you would add pics, more than a month later and still no pics :|
