flax+dragonhide to 80 crafting good idea?

Featured Replies

well in an attempt to get my non combat skills up, one on my list is crafting. i want 80 from 68... read last post to see what ive got so far  im going to get 10k flax, spin and sell the bow strings(or maybe buy some yews and make some long bows and alch those :-k ...) then make 6536 dragon hide body's to get the last levels :D all explained in my last post :XD:

Try it for a 1k or so and if you don't get bored then carry on. Personally I would get bored after 1 to 2k, but you can use the profit you make to buy D Hides.

Trust me you will get bored of spinning it.

If you spend the profit on d hides you will get a nice break and boost in exp.

ya i know spinning would be way boring... and i do like 1k at a time and thats usually it... but still, if i need to train it, ill bear it... like 10k at a time tho... and would dragon hide be good? yes i know the exp is great, but i dont want to lose a ton of money on them, not being able to sell the armor in bulk...

Actually quite a few people buy green dhide bodies to alc, just look to see how much it would cost you to buy the hides and tan and see if youd break even or lose an amount of money your comfortable with and if your okay with losing however many gp it is, then do green bodies.

Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.

Bear in midn a trick a few people use:

if you are going to make a loss from hides in your method, buy more than you need, tan them all, then sell the extra tanned hides (they sell for a lot more than untanned) to make back your cash.

well if what ive seen is right, people sell the greed hides for like 1k each, if i tan, and alch the vapms would probably be a profit at 1.5k each alch and they use 1 leather per, legs are 2 each so some more there they alch for 2340 each leg pair, and the bodies needing 4 each and alching for 4680 each would be some more there...

but if they dont sell for 1k each im out a ton... i would just think that the flax bringing in double wat i pay would be most.. with ost time... but if this is right, green d amror would be a little profit.

You obviously know the flax you'd need to spin so here are some numbers and the money you'd make from green d'hide bodies:

For 80 Crafting starting at 68 Crafting (Starting experience: 605,382) would require about 8000 Green Dragon Bodies (Maybe a few less).

8000*1.5k each= 12m shiny gold coins

Now that may or may not be a lot but you'd make a 3.18k profit for each one you high alch.

You'd actually make 25.44m (not including if the Nats were bought)

------

In the end, it's up to you.

Can u explain that a little more? Because last time i checked green hides were sold for 1.5k ea. For body you need 3 hides that would make 4560 (60 is tanning price) so unless u make your nats and mine ess, you will loose money on nats. Still crafting green bodies are the way to go for decent crafting exp and time.

Flax will give you a lot of money, but it's slow and boring. I would say get 10k flax at first, spin, sell and buy green hides. Work with hides untill u spend all profit from flax and back to flax for another income boost.

Prayer is good for herbs

flax is ok.. i still do it sometimes at my level. its useful if you're doing something else, like watching a movie or something.

yup. it'll take a long time, so be prepared for that.

I'd do maybe like 5k sell the bs and buy some dhide with that. Then maybe you could alch those and do more flax. That way you don't really lose any money.

I've used pretty much every crafting method out there (After I kill some mean dragons for a friend, I'm going for 99 :) ), but flax has always been my favorite. It gets very dull, but I always find ways to manage it. One way is...I change into a pink mini-skirt from Keldagrim, and look at everyone else's text'o'shock. Very fun ::' . But yes, if you can stand to make a bit of loss (Unless you get free natures/make them yourself), use green dragonhide bodies. Very good experience, and you break even with your own natures.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

WOW! thanks to every one that posted! from what im getting from many of the posts is to make bow strings first, sell, then use the profit to make green dragon hide bodies. i didn't really think that 91500 bow strings would be the best way to get there, just a ton of profit ::' and yes, i didn't really think that green d hides were 1k each... i just saw a couple of people selling at that, and a couple of posts so i just went with that. and any way, the lesser the better :P

and now that i got all that i need, im going to try and see what its going to look like, if you have the time, and know like prices and stuff, read this and see if i messed up any where :-k (because i do think i did...)

It takes three hides to make a body

so it will cost 36mil to buy everthing

then 750k to tan them all

they sell for 4400 each so you will sell for 35.2 mil

so... it will cost you arouynd 2 mil

well in an attempt to get my noncombat skills up, one on my list is crafting. i want 80 from 68... and not wanting to spend a ton on dragon hides, and probably losing money, i turning to flax. i need around 91500 to get lvl 80. i know its a ton but still, buy for 100each, sell for 200 each...

but would dragon hide stuff be better? ive never tried them before but have heard that there good exp too... but buying and tanning could set me back some, and the stuff id make from them wont sell in bulk...

i need a good way to get there, and hopefully make a profit :D

If you're aiming at 80 I'll assume you have decent stats and money, then in that case I'm SURE there are ways you could both make more xp and more money then spinning. Lets say you split your time in 2, 1 hour you do some merchanting and do a 300-500k profit, next hour you use faster crafting levelling methods like cowhides ( at least that) that will cost you about 100-200k

All you need is to figure a way but it's possible.

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

10k flax

*100 each

1m

why dont use mtk to get flax.. its much cheaper. and i doubt you want the 10k flax all at once. 1200+ flax a day frm mtk is good enough.

10k bow strings

*200 each

2m, 1m profit

selling at 200ea is pretty hard. if you're lvling fletch, use it for your bows.

-120gp profit form high alching body's, making my own nats, mining own ess.-

just buy the ess.. you'll be wasting time mining them.
