Death Valley Photography [New ones added]

Featured Replies

Went to Death Valley for a couple of days, wasn't anything spectacular, but a cool place. It was wildflower season, and apparently there hasn't been such an abundance of flowers for 30 years due to the odd weather we've been having. So these here are just the digital pictures I took, there are also three rolls of film that need to be developed. Critical comments on each piece would be appreciated. EDIT: These were taken on film rather than digital.

Replaced the washed out one, which I removed due to it getting a bit redundant.

Ok, so it's not Death Valley, but it was on the same roll of film.

The best one is the little waterfall, followed closely by the second larger waterfall. The composition on these are pretty good.

I like the yellow flowers, but I wish you would have chosen a closer focus.

The daisies look like a pattern I would get with photoshop, not a big fan...

The purple flower is kinda nice but it's over exposed.

The silhouette is the worst one barely beating out the sky shot....

wow those are really nice i went there about 1 week ago it was really nice. i will try to get my pictures but there were on a old camera but it was really nice i want kayaking in the huge lake there it was only a couple feet deep it was really nice

The purple flower is too bright, take it from a different angle next time.

The first is a little overexposed.

Liked 3 of the flowers, not the dark one though.

Best IMO is the yellow ones, nice view from there.

A bit overexposed.

A little blurry, but expected with a digital camera. I like how on the right side of it it is darker, and on the left it gets lighter. Those flowers are cool, and I like the little brown speckles on them. The tiny cacti are very cool, too.

When I saw this, I immediately thought of one of Nadril's Terragen Renders. Cool shot, and the rays that the sun is making are very cool.

It seems like you arent really focusing on a specific flower. It's hard to get a good silhouette with a digital camera though, I know. The cliff/rock formation on the right is good, and I like how it gently slopes down. Good try on this one. If you got it on film, it should turn out great.

Perfect. The contrast of the yellow flowers on the clear blue sky is awesome. There is almost a gradient to the sky too. The hill on the right is also great, because seeing the barren hills, and then the perfect flowers, really gives a mood...well I don't know how to put it.

Man, what lush vegetation there. Perfect green. I like how you took it at such an angle that the waterfall was somewhat hidden. Good job on this one.

I really like this one. The picture is great in itself, but i really like how you took the picture to include the over-hanging trees. Only suggestion is that you maybe crop off some of the bottom. It seems like there is a lot of water there. But not too much.

Great pics you got there. It's awesome that you were able to get out there for that 'special event.' I had heard about it, but didn't realize how MUCH it had grown. Great job.

These are so spectacular. I love them, especially the Darwin Falls one.

Thanks everyone for the comments, they do help-- trust me.

It's interesting to see how some people like a shot and others hate it, I guess that means I'm doing something right.

As you can see I replaced the old washed out purple flower with a new one, don't know if it's the same but it looked a lot better. Jab, you were wondering about the silhouette on film... I don't think it turned out better, but it was certainly a silhouette effect.
