without troops in boots no ground war can be deemed as won .after all premtive strikes the mopping up operation begins(iraq). then emerges the insurgents or fredom fighters, then the war of artrition starts. snipers prevail in this senario.

 

so whilst streched to the max waging war on terror. spending billions on war nothing on usa ifastructure.more and more jobs being outsoursed more illegals takin what jobs that are left.

History says in some occasions defeating an enemy who has you out gunned and out manned is possible. However in modern times your average civilian of a first world country does not have the means and, to a lesser degree, the balls to really fight against a military force.

 

 

 

The only exceptions I'd make to that would be China, Korea, Veitnam, Japan, Switzerland (or is it sweden?); basically any country which has compulsary military service. There's a difference between combat-ready and people who just own guns because they can.

I'd agree with you, if the statistics didn't actually that in place like the UK and Australia where gun-ownership is legal, relative gun crime is a lot lower.

 

 

 

A lot of gun crimes and incidences are not shootouts between armed criminals and vigilante civilians, but ordinary people getting carried away.

And I'm sort of curious as to where people get the idea that being armed is which makes a soldier a soldier, and a group of soldiers an army rather than mob with weapons? Unorganized and untrained civilians can be armed to the teeth, this doesn't mean they couldn't be defeated by a organized, trained soldiers. Oh sure, you can pick off the occasional soldier, blow up the occasional convoy, but actually defeat a modern war machine? How?

 

 

 

Why would you assume cops would have guns? They don't in other countries. Also, since when do cops end crime? Cops 'round here would much rather ticket you for speeding than save your life from a violent thug, it seems.

 

 

 

And who said gun ownership should be made easier? It should be made tougher, naturally, but some of you are saying guns should be banned and destroyed, which is preposterous. Even so, criminals usually are not the guy next door who has a registered license to conceal and carry...They're people using them illegally anyways. But sure, make it tougher to buy them...Might help keep some off the street, but they'll still be gettin' there even if they were gone.

Most countries with police that don't have guns probably don't have them because the force is corrupt enough as it is.

You misunderstood me. The easier it is to legally aquire a gun, the easier it is aquire one to use in criminal activities. Teenagers around here generally don't shoot a dozen of their fellow students. They occasionally gang up on some hapless fellow and kick him to death, but the death toll is a lot lower than if these punks could just get their hands on a gun.

Taking away legal weapons from civilians doesn't really make sense to me. In the US, it means people are defenseless from criminals
