thought just hit me what would runescape be without bots, i am not promoting the use of them but surely the market would crash. people say that players would gather their own materials but i cant see that hapaning.. who would collect 500 magic seeds for 99 farming or fish how ever many lobs for 99 fishing and cooking. or for a more extreme example 99 smithing for rune plate.

 

 

 

and surely the price of materials would rise, but things like rares would decline as the amount value in the economey would shrink - my thoughts are if 1k yews is worth 330k before and 500k after 170k cash is gone in every 1k of yews

If there was no bots, it would be the end of cheap materials, and the worker class would live a much more comfortable life. The high level that buys everything would learn to farm his own materials. Many of the items that are produced off the materials would raise in price, thus the value of money would raise, wouldn't that help with inflation? I think the economy would be much more healthy than it is now, but some people clearly wouldn't be happy.

I believe that people will rise to the call, and gather primary resources. Can it be done? Yes, people already have the required skills, they just want a good amount of pay for it.

Off-Topic-Autoers and Bots=Same Thing

 

 

 

On-Topic-I really want to get rid of Bots, and those who are worried and say "Oh no but the economy will get screwed up yada yada yada" are idiots. People will simply cut there own yews or fish there pown fish. And another bonus, since most people will cut/fish the logs or fish for 99 Flecthing or Cooking they will beomce (sightly) more respected by the Runescape Community.

The only way I can see the Bot/Macro epidemic coming to an end is if the market dries up... In other words, the problem is so vast that nothing can stop it, short of RS closing down, which I predict it will in another two or so years.

but what im saying is i dont think people would get unlazy - the amount of people willing to pay higher prices for materials would increase so the value of the current market, in which alot is in materials would decrease. any thoughts?

The price increase of most goods is an acceptable sacrifice to get rid of these damn bots.

You say that buying materials is lazy. Well in fact, it isn't it's efficient. Let's say I make 1 mill per hour, ess costs 100 each and takes 1 hour per 1k. I have 2 choices I can either, spend 10 hours mining ess, or I can spend 1 hour making money and then buying the ess. If I choose to buy the ess, I'm not lazy, I'm using common sense and comparative advantage. I do what I am best at doing, sell that product and buy everything else I need. It saves me tons of time.

 

 

 

If you consider that "lazy" then we are all either lazy for buying materials or stupid for wasting countless hours making them.

 

 

 

Of course, in the game, self-sufficiency is fun. But it's stupid to go around accusing others of buying materials when it's the logical thing to do.

Now don't get me wrong; I'm just as practical as the next guy when it comes to buying things as opposed to doing it on your own. In truth, it's impractical of me to demand that players start harvesting massive amounts of raw items just to process them into goods.

 

 

 

However, this is where the autoers thrive; what we won't do due to time constraints, they are more than happy to provide.

 

 

 

Now I won't tell anyone that they all really need to get raw goods themselves, that's not fair/right/logical; I will say that it doesn't hurt to gather up some of your own resources.

In real life, there are no autoers or bots. There is supply and demand. If people demand something, it will be supplied. Some will supply it for more, others less. In the end it will all balance out thanks to our selfishness that forms the invisible hand.

without bots we would simple be more self-sufficient. Also raw material prices would go up. This is good for soem and bad for others.

 

 

 

I think we would all love to see an end to all bots... for good!
