Featured Replies

Will it ever happen do you want it happen I think it should because I loved that series and still love it Chrono Cross was a great game and all but nothing beats the best RPG on the SNes.

There are no plans for additional titles in series, despite a 2001 statement from Hironobu Sakaguchi that the development team of Chrono Cross wanted to make a new Chrono game and that script ideas were being considered. The same year, Square applied for a trademark for the names "Chrono Break" and "Chrono Brake" in the United States and Japan, respectively. However, the United States trademark was dropped in 2003. Yuji Horii expressed no interest in returning to the Chrono franchise in 2005. Hironobu Sakaguchi remarked in April 2007 that his creation Blue Dragon was an "extension of [Chrono Trigger]." During a Cubed̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâó interview on 1 February, 2007, Square Enix̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Senior Vice President Hiromichi Tanaka said that although no sequel is currently planned, some sort of sequel is still possible.

As much as it should happen, I really doubt that it will happen.

Square Enix has too much on their plates with Final Fantasy 13 as well as Kingdom Hearts.

There is currently 5 games in development by the one company... so don't count on it.

Your Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!

They don't need to extend every series to twelve+ sequels, multiple spinoffs and an MMO, you know.

Exactly. I'm afraid that the company, my favorite gaming company in the world, is now catering pretty much only to fans. And the sad part is it can do this. A movie and 3 other games from FF7 and 3 games (4? i forget) from FF13. Not to mention Kingdom heart is going to explode soon probably.

I really wish the company would try something... a little different.

Square is siting on three kingdom hearts games, they keep pumping out final fantasy games, after all it did save their company; but they will not, nor do they need to, make a sequal to chrono trigger and chrono cross. Personaly I think chrono trigger was way better than Chrono cross. Chrono trigger is the perfect game IMO and there is no reason to further the series.

No thanks. As much as I love Chrono Trigger (not so much cross) I think they'd ruin it.

I mean, they don't have anywhere to go with the story... And I swear if they brought back lavos (again)....

To be honest, once Squaresoft became Square-Enix, it's been on a downwards curve.

The original was like an orgasm of color, sound, RPG goodness.

Cross; meh.

3? Please Square? Pretty please?

Couldn't agree more. FFX = Squaresoft, FFXI = S-E. And FFXII, to be honest, I could never really get into it. The problem could just lie in the longevity of the series, but I seriously doubt it. Along with merging came new ideas, and not necessarily good ones. I just hope they can redeem themselves with 13, or all might be lost for Final Fantasy as we know it. I also think they need to stop using the crystals/government as the main story theme. Something new would be nice. FFVIII and IX were very nice balances between love/friendship/government in terms of the story, maybe something like that for upcoming Final Fantasies.

And what makes you think they'd call it Chrono Trigger 3...? IMO, making another Chrono game would be a bad move financially in S-E's eyes. No matter how many of you on the forums like it, I'm guessing most would consider it a cult-classic. If they were to make a 3rd Chrono, fanboys and girls would go nuts. Casual gamers who think Halo 3 and their 360 are the greatest objects ever created wouldn't give it a second glance.

I would love to see a new Chrono game out, but as Nadril said even if they do make one they will probably ruin it.
