I have been training melee, lately just Str, and I started doing slayer because I was bored with Fire giants all the time. My slayer is 43 and I have been told that Slayer is good to train for drops. What level slayer allows me to kill a monster with great drops? thanks

if you want millions then 85+. if you dont want to go that far you wont make much. you may make a few mil from the monsters below but not much. go check the slayer guide on tip.it for the rare slayer drops

Abberants are good for herbs + seeds plus other various drops.

 

 

 

Gargoyles and nechryaels(sp?) are good for items such as mystic tops mauls rune boots and alchable rune items.

 

 

 

Abbysal demons for whips pure ess and various alchable drops.

 

 

 

Dark beasts for dark bows.

 

 

 

It all depends on how much time you want to spend on slayer.

but thats when you will be able to make easy money. whips and dark bows will make you quite a bit if you kill the abyssal demons and i cant recall what drops the bows atm. im sorry you dont want to hear that, but its the truth

so basically 60 is a good short term goal, my melee is 70Att, 76 Str, 70Def, so I am leveling up slayer fast, in the past few days I have gone from 29 slayer to 43.

Levelling gets a lot slower after around fifty so dont expect it to go fast.

 

 

 

Also if you dont have it already but can afford it, guthans will help you a lot.

50/65 for bloodvelds/dust devils would be good for unlocking some great training monsters.

Most low level slayer monsters drop brilliant rates of herbs and seconds. Cockatrice are good limp root droppers, cave crawlers are good for high level herbs. Banshees drop a LOT of herbs.

 

 

 

Then at 40 slayer, basilisk, commonly drop nats and addy studff.

 

 

 

Fever spiders drop Kwuarm about 1/4 at 42 slayer.

 

 

 

At 45, infernal mages drop lots of deaths + soem bloods, and ltos of other runes. And the cheap mystic stuff.

 

 

 

At 47, brine rats drop lots of noted food (sharks please!), and they don't hit a lot so if you're low fishing they're useful =]

 

 

 

At 50, bloodveld. BRILLIANT melee/range xp, and lots of bloods, the occasional rune med.

 

 

 

At 52, jellies! These are very popular for lvl 3 clue scrolls.

 

 

 

Turoth drop a ton of nats at 55, but awkward as hell to kill.

 

 

 

At 58, your first big dropping slay monster, they drop black masks semi rarely (always use one slaying btw).

 

 

 

At 60 abby spectres. Absolutely AMAZING for herbs and seeds. You'll get like, 2 herbs per spectre, and good herb seeds. They're the best in the game for herbs. Also, fairly common lava b staffs and mystic parts: this is where slayer starts getting very nice indeed.

 

 

 

65, dust devils. Very good xp, drop lots of food, LOTS of fires, souls, and of course, dragon chainbodies ;p These are the next very nice dropping monster.

 

 

 

At 72, skele wyverns, they're VERY ew, but have some expensive drops (granite stuff iirc).

 

 

 

Gargys at 75 drop g mauls that alch for 30 ea, and mystic tops, kinda easy to kill, not brilliant but pretty profitable for training.

 

 

 

Nechs, with guthans, are amazing. Very frequent seed drops, rune drops, rare d med drops, good xp, lots of deaths (like 200 runes per task i find).

 

 

 

abby demons at 85, well, you know these...good xp, and whips every 500 or so.

 

 

 

So theres slayer monsters in a nutshell. I posted all because, what i class as good isn't probably what YOU class as good. Guthans is soooooooo useful: heals you without havign to bank, and you more than make back the repear costs. B2P is useful too, might be worth unlocking though i never have.

Black masks can be boguht, i haven't a clue of the price. 500k last i looked. That was a long long time ago, check zybez. Don't bother with charged ones.

 

 

 

Guthans is about 10m? maybe a bit less now, not sure. Essentially, it has a special, that drans whatever you hit to you. Say you hit a 30 on the spec? your hp goes up 30. Special is common, so it's great for healing without using food. You could get combat 126 without any food.

 

 

 

Generally, people use a set up similar to yours, and switch to guthans when theyre low on hp.

 

 

 

Black mask goes in your helmet spot, and emulates you using the 15% attack and strength prays ALL of the time on slayer tasks, Very useful indeed.

The guy above answered your question pretty nicely. But Guthans are a Barrows armor set that allows you to stay at tasks longer without having to bank because there special ability (random) allows you to heal what you hit quite often and is great for slayer.

It's not neccessary, jsut useful. I got 87 slayer without guthans, now i use it and it saves me a ton of time banking.

 

 

 

You won't really need it until you hit stuff like nechs, then doing it without is a lot lot harder. It's always useful though, i'd start building a fund whilst you slay.

 

 

 

Don't let not having guthans stop you slaying, but really work towards it it's very useful.

 

 

 

DEIFNATELY get a mask though, if you're even semi seriously about slayer it's soooo useful.

thanks gun hippy, you have been unbelievable helpful, I like slayer because just as I am getting bored killing one monster, but task is up. I am leveling up pretty fast since my melee is good. I used to not like melee, but now that my combat is high I am killing more interesting monsters.

Same =] slayer makes combat a lot less, unbearably dull. Listen to Inosked you for price, price isn't my strong area. Last time i boguht guth was way over 15m. Zybez says it's 6.7m for full guthans.

Ya guthans is cheap now, arround 6.5. Also, if you are bord and have slayer questions join "axe man jack" clan chat, its a slayer chat full of people training slayer. also, with a black mask, dragon b ax special, stat restore and super attack pots the exp just flys in. you get the big hits every time.

The other thing you might want to consider is the NPC Contact lunar spell. This allows you to contact any of the slayer masters from anywhere. The major downside to this though is that whist on lunar, you can't access high alc.
