Murder Mystery Story in progress - NEED YOUR ADVICE

Featured Replies

Well, i was just assigned my AP chemistry class final project of the semmester. I am supposed to write a murder mystery short story and must use chemistry to solve the murder (the evidence leading up to the solution of the crime is based on chem).

I decided that i would post this here because i simply don't know where to begin. So with a little imagination from both you and I, i will write this story and later post it here so you can all tell me what you think of it.

For anyone who is wondering, the chemistry concepts that can be involved are stoichiometry, chemical reactions, gases, atomic structure, bonding, intermolecular forces, and solutions.

For anyone who would simply like to help me create a plot, there are no guidlines other than the fact that there needs to be a murder, and it needs to be somewhat entertaining.

Please anyone any advice would be AMAZING, and FYI I have until monday December 10th to write this.

Thanks <3:

Sounds pretty cool! Chem can be pretty tedious at times, and I've never heard of writing a short story for any chem classes--however, you've come to the right place. We've got plenty of imaginative and friendly people here that'll help, including me.

Quite interesting indeed.

It depends on how you want the murder to be. For instance, and most likely, killed by gases, poisoned, or a chemical reaction in his body caused by a foreign substance, making the body overcompensate and kill itself. Think of what you want first, then repost here.

Also, if it's a short story, then you probably will need people (Obviously) who are solving the mystery. Think of names and jobs of people (i.e., Bob CSI) that involve chem, report here on what you want, and we'll work together.

And solving the crime will be interesting as well. But we'll go in depth on that later, just focus on the main themes (Those above).

That it? Wow. Well, talk to you soon. ::'

Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D

In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)

K thanks for the advice, i had to do a lab report today so i didn't have time to brainstorm this, but I'll get back to you probably tommorow with some ideas for the story

A chemical murder? A very simple one would be swapping the contents of some cleaning product bottles (mostly bleach) to kill a cleaner through chlorine gas.

Yeah, but I would set it up first, one must get the situation before the actual murder takes place. You can start with a dead body, but I find you have to plan what your character would do to keep continuity.

And I agree with Necromagus, except over-dose might be better. Unless that's not chemical...

What about death by osmosis? Adding a few teaspoons of table salt to a saline IV is all it takes.

Or perhaps death by poison directly? Don't even bother hiding it? That would be interesting and challenging to write properly about.

How about someone murdered Dora the Explorer and stole her backpack, which had methanfedamine in it (sp on meth?). They have to trace the murderer to the source, and they find out it was spongebob, who had shoved a pineapple down her throat to choke her. Boots was found as a co-conspirator with spongebob, and planted "Map" as spongebob's spy. when they find them, Boots was brutally murdered with an overdosage of Miralax, a laxative, and he crapped out his guts. Map's eyes were gouged out, and he was lit on fire. Backpack was emptied, and was found to have had a cell phone, and phoned the police. Both are serving time in jail, and spongebob's gay lover, Patrick Star, came to visit him in the end, and that's where the story starts, and it's all through spongebob's perspective. At the end, spongebob gets the chair :P

nvm

I like the Joker one, just... tone it down a little, the school might not appreciate the drug references.
