NukeMarine
Thank you for this useful information :) No problem. In addition, I added a fourth example dealing with Addy Ore running. It's only gonna work for the next 3 or 4 weeks. However, if you have 3 or 4 good runners, you will be more than impressed with your leveling and profits at the Blast Furnace. If I were playing at the amount I used to, I would be doing that right now. teatonev
For a profit making technique try making mithril bolts at the blast furnace. This does slow your exp rate a bit, but on my last trip I made 7.5k mith bolts which sold instantly at max price on the GE. Another tip - you can load up the furnace with ore and coal before you pick up the previous set of bars. That way if the blast furnace is busy you can have another set of bars waiting for you after you've smithed the first set.

So, though it's slower, it's profitable (about 300 per bar) if you do bolts. Did not time it entirely, but I assume it's 3 minutes per load of 24 bars. Thanks for the loading tip. It was a hidden update as last year you could not load more ore if it added upto 28 in ores and bars. So this is a good change that speeds up the process on a full world. Blizaga57
What's the xp/hr making steel plates at varrock with prebought bars and also the xp/hr for smelting gold for comparison?
NukeMarine
What's the xp/hr making steel plates at varrock with prebought bars and also the xp/hr for smelting gold for comparison? No clue, however I think think those are straight loss speed xp and not relevant to the discussion. There's a thread on smelting gold and smithing the gold bowls elsewhere with the full data on that one. Added an example on runite smelting. Allthetime
Thanks Nuke, I've always liked your tips and guides. I'll go back to BF. I liked it a lot from back in the days when I traded steel bars or cannon balls for ores for XP and a coal profit... ok, and some extra money tbh. I'm not convinced that this is a better option than certain other methods... but it *could* be. Errr... certain other methods? Why stop there, run to another awesome Report... I can't wait ;) A MMORPG is like a virtual world... of proud people for having a pixelated armour that costed them arround three years of their life.player interaction is what makes the runescape world... come to life

Attila88
Before the GE, yes, if NO ONE had already bought out the store, you got a good deal. However, that involved ALOT of world hopping. Now I don't have to sweat some moron hopping in buying out the store I stocked to 140 coal so it gave cheapest unnoting price. I preferred to unnote my coal cause it saved trips to bank. Before the GE update, if you did not empty the coal and keep it at 50 level and mith at 85 you could not only make Xp but also good money. if the usual moron did not come to empty your world (thinking it is smart to buy a skill) you seldom need to swap worlds. In the rare case no coal/mith load arrives you could train some agility at the pedals. Skills were not made to be bought. Bat to be trained and gain from them. On the contrary, one can do anything they want with a skill. It can be smart to buy a skill, depending on how much your time is worth (if you can make tons of money an hour double nat crafting, it might be a better option to buy skills like crafting/smithing to save money). Furthermore, some people don't enjoy skills, and want to buy them as quick as possible. Thus, what is smart for you might not be smart for some.
