Need ideas for a background. Dunno what to do for it. Ideas and crit on how to make it better would be appreciated.

He's wearin Zammy dhide top, barrows gloves, Torag's helm, dark bow, 2 dragon arrows... and I just noticed I forgot fury. :c

I like it so far though.

 

 

 

The background shouldn't be too complicated, since the character takes up the vast majority of the space.

 

That doesn't mean just a ground and sky though. :lol:

with the d hide, it needs to look mroe like d hide though (dunno if you done) it looks like a shirt right now

To add onto what yaff said, try adding the arrowheads, at the moment all we can see is the yellow things on the bow.

Im referencing off multiple pictures and my own arms. Just google archery for the pics I'm using.

 

I don't really know how to make it look like less of a shirt and more of dhide. So I'd need someones help on that.

 

What's wrong with the bow? On most of the pics I'm using you can't see the arrowheads too well so that's why I didn't include them.

I see, fair enough. The way to make it dhide is to add those scales. Try a really light grey center, and just make the grey a little darker and make layers until you make it look like a tear drop. Do this all over the d hide and it should look ok. If not, I'm sure someone will help you make them look better.

Very nice pose, the body is a bit square but its very good for your first attempt, i like it :

For a first, that's really good. :) The background could obviously use some work, but the character looks top notch. Keep it up, you obviously have skill.

I love the detail. Nice job. Now just touch up the shirt and the arrows and such so we have a clearer idea that it's a dragon chainmail guy shooting arrows and it's really going to be a quality piece. :)

I agree, it's amazing for a first, and I think it's great you're using a reference, most people just do things off the top of their head and it turns out horrible, but you've done well so far. Can't wait to see it finished.

Make the shirt tighter to his skin & draw scales onto it to make it look like dhide 8/10 - very well drawn arms. Also, add the very tip of the arrowhead into the pic

You should remove those black lines. Other than that I think it looks good so far. ;)

The dark dithering on the bottoms of his arms is kind a harsh I think. And a lot of the colors you used to shade are too similar. If you change them it'll have more depth.

 

It's looking really good for a first though. (Linework is nice.)

its very nice, but, the torags helm and zammy dhide are too dark, no arrow heads, and it looks more like a red, [bleep]ed msb than a dark bow.dark bow is much thicker, its darker red fading to black.

 

 

 

other than that though, nice work.
