blade995
We need more information. What games will you be playing on this? Whats your budget?
Nadril
Man, this is a vague question if I've ever seen one before.... - What is your budget. The best kind of PC largely depends on how much you can spend, because they varry so much. You can build a machine for $500 or $20,000... it all just depends on how much money you have to throw at it. - Are you going to be buying this prebuilt from a manufactuer (Dell, Falcon Northwest, HP, Ect.) or are you going to be buying the parts and building it yourself. Buying the parts to build yourself is, obviously, the cheaper choice but is harder as well and for someone who does not have a good knowledge of computers it isn't advised (unless you hire someone to build it). - what games are you playing? I mean, if you're just playing runescape and older stuff such as CS 1.6 there is no point in spending 2,000 bucks on a great PC when a $500 one will do the job right. Likewise, are you going to be playing the latest games on this machine? Do you want DX10 or DX9 capabilities? We really need some better answers, or else I'm just going to link a ~$22,000 some computer build from Falcon Northwest as it really is the 'best' desktop you can get. Iamdan
Don't spend that much on a computer, the prices of new hardware goes down so fast it's not funny. Besides it's not like you're going to be using all the resources. Find a computer savvy friend and get him to build you a computer with a budget of about $2500. emmanuel1233
oooh but believe me lol everything i can add to my pc i will have a use for.... especially for when i start to create games. i already got blue prints for them, sketches, and ppl who will help me.. so the faster pc= faster development for me in my opnion.. but for now i just need a comp that can handle me \ BTW thanks for the link \ \

That would have been great if you have, I don't know, specified that at the start? What kind of 'designs' are you doing? I mean, what are these going to be used for. You at first said just gaming/video, but now you're saying something else as well. Clarify yourself please.
emmanuel1233
what i am designing is a project i call MARK-X... itsan RPG what we got developed so far are renders of areas of the game... im in charge the story lines/npc's of the game... I need a good pc to do all my work on.... i say games such as C.O.D 4 because the aspect of the game is similar... but it maintains an rpg style like WOW... i have a small crew atm but as soon as we are close to actually starting we will have a website with everything you will need to know.. Nadril
Ok, wow. This is completly different than I thought. I thought you wanted a machine to play games, not create them. How many do you need? You'll want to get some specified workstations then.

I go to my Buddie's place and we work in his attic, basement, our rooms... its kinda small but i get to hang out with my friends for now i will need to get about 5 comps. total.. then if we find any other ppl who would like to join our crew then i will order them the comps. but they will have to pay rental for them from me of course...
Iamdan
So you don't know anything about building computers, yet you have the programming and graphic capabilities to make a game? :-k Strange Anyway if you want a few workstations, I still think you should find someone to build them custom. Spending maybe $5k each computer? You will also want to do something, can't remember the name. It networks your processors so all the computers all share them, and it distributes processing power as each computer needs it. Just google it. If you don't use pirated software you should keep some money aside should you need to buy a program. Most of them are around $6000.
Captainkidd
Dell just made a WOW computer, link. Alienware is genrally a good gaming computer, site.
Nadril
After messing around on Dell's site a bit I came up with this, pretty good for a workstation if you are truely serious about this. http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/ ... wjzz&s=bsd My System Details Quad Core Intel̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâî Xeon̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâî Processor E5410 (2.33GHz,2X6M L2,1333) Genuine Windows Vista̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ Business, with Media Dual 512MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro FX1700, Quad Monitor DVI Cable 4GB, DDR2 SDRAM FBD Memory, 667MHz, ECC (4 DIMMS) 16X DVD+/-RW w/ Cyberlink PowerDVD̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ and Roxio Creator̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ Dell Ed C1 All SATA drives, Non-RAID, 1 drive total configuration 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s,7200 RPM Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst Cache̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ Dell 22 inch UltraSharp̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ 2208FPW Widescreen, Adjustable Stand, VGA/DVI Dell 22 inch UltraSharp̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¾Ãââ 2208FPW Widescreen, Adjustable Stand, VGA/DVI Starting Price $5,088 You could get 5 of these and then have plenty of money left over for software. Dell just made a WOW computer, link. Alienware is genrally a good gaming computer, site. This isn't really what he wants, read the entire thread. Also I should state that these workstations are NOT for playing games on, they'd perform very poorly. If you want a gaming machine than just spend a bit extra and get one for your own personal use than.

Nadril
Bah, this is like working with a brick wall. You're 'game design team' is working with FLASH GAMES? Or are you going to be working with an actual, 3D done game? Honestly you're giving us so little details and then you just suprise us with another little tidbit that completely throws everything out the window. I give up. :? Bxpprod
Get some DDR3 1336MHz RAM. But seriously, the amount of RAM you have can infact decrease performance. You want plenty of HDD space. Get a top end CPU (Quadcore maybe?) DDR3 ram if the CPU you get can take it. 2 Top end video cards, a top end sound card and i like this monitor [bleep] OFF HOW ARE U SO [bleep]ING LUCKY U PIECE OF [bleep]ING SHIT [bleep] [bleep] [wagon] MUNCHER
Nadril
But seriously, the amount of RAM you have can infact decrease performance. Uh.. no? Sure after 4 gigs (well 3.5gigs) a 32 bit processor isn't going to recognize anymore, and there may be a period with a 64 bit processor where extra ram won't really help but it will never actually decrease performance, thats silly. It is definitely not worth the price premium over DDR2 at this time.
