Game Balance Issues

Suikoman444

Recommended Posts

We would like to remind you about the removal of unbalanced trade, which will happen on the 2nd of January, 2008. Please prepare yourself for this change as you will not be able to make unbalanced trades once the date has passed.

We will be introducing a change on the same day, which will allow you more flexibility when trading. As you may have read in our Future Changes to Recent Updates newspost, this is an increase to the 3,000gp staking/trading limit, based on the number of Quest Points you have.

How do you think this newest update will effect the Games Balance Issues. Do you think that it will negatively effect the balance of runescape or will it prove to be positive?

it will cause most trades to be completed in the ge. So Jagex will spend more time getting prices in the ge correct.

many people will quit over this.

The majority of people who are going to quit have done so already.

I think this will probably affect the game negatively as JaGex has cut off ways for many people to make money which then means those players will not be able to train their skills as high which will then lead to less items being sold on the GE and so on...

So if that does happen... an economic recession? And as people can't make money, they will barely be able to level their skills, they will work for them, and may manage to level up, albeit at a much slower pace. A huge shift in the highscores probably, as well as a rift- those that play longer will still be able to make exponentially more xp than those that don't since they will get one skill up to raise another- such as mining for smithing, runecrafting for magic, etc. And if this happens... prices will start to rise for finished products... and competition for monster drops will definitely worsen...

DOubt the last part.

Finished pruducts will NEVER rise. The economy is based around EXP and money. You can't possibly MAKE money AND exp at the same time.

But on-topic.

It is going to make trading immpossible, and prices WILL crash.

At GE, there is no way to sell magor items above the median. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Lesser items which has values below 100k..well, people will put full price since you can get it faster, and the difference is only a few k.

I agree that this will effect runescape negatively but I do not think that the means of making money will be diminished. My theory is is that runescape will crash due to balance reasons. When Jagex takes prices into their own hands their taking on a big responsibility as that means THEY are responsible for maintaining the balance(that believe it or not) runescape once had. There are over 10,000(which is a rough estimate, please don't critique it) items in runescape that Jagex is going to be required to keep track of. I do not think that runescape will fail due to player issues with the economy, I think it will fail when Jagex loses its grasp of balance in the game which in my opinion won't be long after they take prices into their own hands.

You CAN make money and exp at the same time. All you have to do is get 40 fishing and catch lobsters, 90 exp per lob and 255gp per lob. \'

Also, you are wrong about finished product prices never rising. Cooked Lobsters went down because pking was killed off. If the old wilderness was back, certain finished high-level goods like lobsters and swordfish would be in high demand and be bought in large quantities, therefore driving the price up. The reason cooked lobsters and swordfish are stale-priced right now is because player killing is virtually dead, and BH is a crappy replacement, and Clan Wars is a safe mini game so there's no incentive to bring food.

Another factor is that people who want to train to 99 cooking will trade cooked lobs for raw lobs, and of course, since raw lobs are worth more than cooked lobs, the latter can use them as training food, and be obtained for free, therefore not many people will have to buy them off the GE if they are obtained in large amounts, relatively easy if you have 60+ fishing.

The 3k cap the good things:

destroys gp traders;

destroys transferrers;

you can't be scammed of more than 3k;

autoers are standing ducks after it cause you cant give directly.

The Bad things:

destroys the sharing of loot from monster killing;

turns people to GE;

destroys merchanting.

Possible alternatives:

Maybe an actual Lootshare, not just a thing saying who got what but the pricy loot placed in GE and shares distributed evenly?

Total Level 2247- 11x 99s All Combat Skills, Slayer, Summoning, Woodcutting, Herblore

Pretty sure he meant 'buyable skills' such as cooking, fletching, smithing, ect., or money on a high scale level. sure lobs is money, that's like saying pickpokeing men is EXP and cash. It is, but not very much.
