Origami Crane [3D]

This was one of the wierdest things I've had to model.... The entire thing was made from a 2D plane, just as you

would fold it in real life. At first I figured it would be pretty easy, I just had to follow the instructions in my origami

book. I don't think I could have been more wrong... :-P After folding, slicing, and bending points all over the place,

I finally got to a point that looked presentable and I called it done.. It could still use alot of work if I were picky...

Again, this was all done "2D" so to speak...

Questions and comments welcome and appreciated. I wish I had more time to work on my modeling, I really enjoy

doing it but I don't have much time to....

Oh, and here is a polymodel of it... I did this afterwards to see if I could make it look any better...

Thats an incomplete oragami crane, the top/back of the crane should be a box shape not a pyramid. The wings are also a bit too high up. But you said you weren't so picky so I guess it's excusable, kinda. Apart from that, its pretty neat :)

Maybe like 2 hours making the thing in real life and then modeling... Modeled in Softimage|XSI.... actually could have taken longer I don't really remember... Froth, the one you speak of is a different one, or that's when you blow into the bottom and it inflates... I have 3 of them I made sitting here on my desk from an instruction book, and that's exactly how it came out in paper....

Thanks for the comments. :)

doesn't really look like paper, but aside from that its a 9/10... try to make it on a wooden table or sumthin..

Too overdone.... looks fine like this I think. It would take all of 2minutes to slap a wood texture on there, and it would only detract from the model.

Thanks Freesy.
