Has RuneScape become a grindfest?

Alright, I didn't have the patients to read every little post (sorry but only one of my brain pistons are pounding at the moment.) so I am not sure if this was already said.

 

 

 

I think it has become a "grindfest" not only because of the G.E. although it is a leading factor in the cause. Manily because people who want to be millionares do nothing but cut wood, fish lobsters or sharks, mine ore all day. Many of these people use Bots or autos to play 24/7 and maximize their loot and raw materials. They then sell it all at unreasonable prices and honestly not many of us have the time to A.) find someone selling the supplies for a reasonable ammount or B.) get the supplies themselves the way they were expected to in the beginning. Honestly i think it would be better if there was no G.E and people spent time earning raw materials to gain levels. (Ex. Cutting yews, picking flax, spinning flax fletching bows, minning essense, crafting the nature runes just to alch). At the least, rather buying from someone who is only intended on screwing you over by charging extreem amounts or requiring you to buy junk with the item, you could talk to a friend or friends and see who can gain you what supplies and pay them so you are supporting a friend and getting a good deal. This would be good because then people wouldn't just but skills for a skill cape of the glory of having a 99 skill and they would train multiple skills or supporting a friend and allowing them to advance their skills in the process of acheving your main goal. So my simplified answer is blatendly YES.

I think it largely depends.

 

 

 

I've been playing for more than three years and I still find the game fun and enjoyable. In my opinion, the whole point of playing a game is to have fun. There is no other reason for it. Personally, I train my skills in an on-off pattern. I would dedicate one to two hours to sole training and then enjoy another few hours doing the things I like. So in my case, RuneScape haven't turned into a 'dreaded grindfest'.

 

 

 

There are also people who enjoy grinding. Since personal preferences differ in most cases, who is to say the 'grinders' don't enjoy the game? When I was working towards my goal of acquiring a 99 for cooking, I enjoyed every moment. There were friends who accompanied me on the long journey. Strangers who chatted with me while we cook. These strangers slowly became friends and bonds were formed. It's not so much the result that counts, it's the experience that's important.

 

 

 

To end off, I'd say no. RuneScape haven't been made into a 'dreaded grindfest'.

yes... ppl just grind all day and sometimes i dont think they r even having fun. why mine a stupid rock and why not do something interesting and fun on rs. also the player to player interaction is lost. sure u have ur friends but seriously try starting fresh with a new account. very hard to make friends. yes i am polite etc its just harder. wanna bes report u, ppl grinding and too busy to chat, etc. believe me i tried on my pure.

I'll post here because you want Vet's opinions. I've played since the fall of '02. So, I've been here a long time. My accounts will never show it because I usually do something that I can't take (Like getting combat up, losing stuff) and start over.

 

 

 

Well, most MMORPGs are grindfests. Really, they are. And somebody said Guild Wars isn't? It kinda is. The only reason I'm good at that game is because I stocked up on birthday cupcakes and sold 'em for like, 500 gold each.

 

 

 

But back on topic. I love this game. I always will. Grinding is something I try to avoid, but I usually end up doing.

It's been a grindfest since the day it was out. It's just slightly less so as the years pass by. If you've been playing way back when, think of the days before "make X amount of items" or "make all amount of items." Players have it a little bit easier now.

RS has always been a grindfest, i remember 2 years ago when getting 77 woodcut was really awesome for me, but now i think nothing of it. If anything skills has got easier [better axes, training spots] etc.
