January 15, 200818 yr I was going to order some extra RAM off of dell.com. I was told that it has to be the same size as my other piece or it wouldn't work. Example: I have 512 mb currently, if I buy 1gb more will they work together?

January 15, 200818 yr RAM is very fincicky, they have to be basically the same size and speed to work together for sure. Why, 2 weeks ago I bought an extra ram chip that was same speed, but not the same size and crashed my comp (my fault, I know) PS- Tech and Computers Forum. January 15, 200818 yr I just took my computer in to a computer place and they figured out what kind of RAM I needed and put it in for me.
January 15, 200818 yr Yes it will work, don't listen to the other people above me. It doesn't even have to be the same speed because all the ram installed will work at the speed of the slowest stick. All you need to make sure of is that it's the same type (don't be putting ddr2 ram in a ddr motherboard :P ). If you need to know the type of ram you have in your computer, you can download CPUZ. I would also suggest buying ram online at a place like http://www.newegg.com instaid of buying from Dell because that overcharge.

January 17, 200818 yr try canceling the order? Dell usually doesent give you many problems about canceling.
