Experienced users getting powers? - REPOSTED

Recommended Posts

Okay, if experienced users received powers, what kind of powers would they get? What would be called an "experienced user?" I'll compile everyone's suggestions together to make a failsafe format of my previous suggestion that the majority will be content with.

Sorry but why close the thread (and remove the ENTIRE first post) that had the most opportunities for more discussion? I had some ideas to post after Ard and others had replied. Grr. Sorry, that's becoming more and more a pet peeve of mine.

EDIT: But to be constructive, I don't support giving users extra powers. Polls have been proven to be abused in the past. The only thing I see that would be beneficial would be the ability to edit reports. I don't really understand the huge desire to have this ability.. but at the same time, I don't understand why it wasn't available in the first place (unless I'm completely missing something here).

Why again did you request it to get locked?

I'm just giving out idea,s I really don't know if I'm suggesting, or saying to stay away from the idea's I'm going to list, so don't think I'm suggesting them, more or less, advertising them. :-s

-Poll Ability in certain forums - Though this topic had both positive and negative sides, as well as solutions in it, so look at that first. -.-

- The Forum Tripsis, and Sith were talking about, having users able to post new topics, but not reply, this forum could be allowed by the user who was promoted to the 'rank' your suggesting, could post replies to help whoever posted a topic in the forum.

- Ability to have limited mod powers? I don't know, I'm sure there's something moderating related a user who would get promoted to the status suggested could do, then again, I don't see a point to mod powers anyways.

- Listed somewhere as a good member of Tip.It who you can PM for assistance at anytime. If the advertisement of these people is good, then this would be a good feature, it would take work off of mods hands, and from past talks with mods, a lot of their work is helping members? I think it's a good idea, though I don't know where you can advertise such a thing, maybe a global sticky for the first two weeks, or one, then have a sticky in General (yea I know, too many stickies already), one in H & A, possibly one in the forum Tripsis and Sith were going on about, any other forum deemed appropriate? As well, it could be listed that they will assist in RuneScape related questions to the best of their effort, along with assistance of the forums guaranteed?

I'm in favour of that last one, it seems to be the one which would be the most useful in terms of the user and what they need.

As well, if the Tip.It Help Center is used by Tip.It, you could implemented these people into it as well?

I don't see the point of reposting what we've already seen before. It certainly looks like what we were just talking about on the other thread, and if there's some slight difference... well there's no the original post to refer back to, is there?

What specific powers are you looking for? Any available forum 'powers' I can think of at the moment are pretty much restricted to mods for a certain reason.

Powers. don't always have to mean moderation powers, more so, what I said kind of explains this. Assisting users, for one, isn't a mod power, but in a sense it is a power, which killer may have been referring to. Having a 'senior' or 'helpful' status or whatever it'll be called if it is done, only means they will be able to assist more easily to the users, because they will be exploited more so to the users, because their rank is 'special', and if done correctly advertised thoroughly. I'm in for this just because of that. I'd really like to see a rank where normal users could ask for assistance through these people, instead of making a topic, which probably was answered a day or two ago in H&A, and without hassling mods with work they could be doing.

As well, being in this division of people would also make them a large role model, that members would be more likely to feed off of then moderators. I think this only because new users tend to, or at least I think are nervous around mods because of the word 'mod', and 'tip it' in the same sentence. Having a break rank between member and moderator is good in my opinion? I'm just using 'senior' and helpful' as a name, because it's better than saying 'noun' rank. >.>

So what you're saying is that users want to be recognized for their helpfulness and would appreciate a rank and/or title while at it.

I don't know how to respond to that :?:.

How do we grant that 'power' to users when the powers are... the purpose of certain message boards?

No, not quite. As that alone doesn't merit a rank does it? I'd say it would be one of the many aspects of it, which hopefully can be generated by everyone.

Because do moderators get messages about the forums/runescape even though there's a H&A forum? :-s

No to more power if you ask me.

Locking own posts is stupid, we have about 50 mods so give them something to do.

Ability to start polls, I couldn't care less and I'm glad that it's forbidden for users, since most of the topics don't need polls and people going to make a poll for everything.

I find it funny how people let their opinion be influenced by staff members, stand up for your ideas if you believe in them.
