I've had this idea for a while. Everytime i go pk'ing, and run into someone with prayer, its really annoying. and for pures with mage and strength, or range and mage, i think its quite unfair if the other person uses prayer and you dont have it. i think they should make staffs that you can like...equip, and select your spell, and it saves it, so you can unequip it, equip melee weapon or bow, then equip staff and still have the spell without having to waste food selecting the spell while the other persons killing you. put down your opinion to this, and keep in mind im not whining about people praying but i think pures would like this more and would get more kills. please dont flame this or call me a noob and whatnot...

By training prayer people sacrifice having the advantage of being pure by having the advantage of prayer.

spuriousmonkey i dont really think you understand what hes trying to say here.What hes saying is that if you're maging and someone uses protect from magic you can simply swap weapons to something like a rune scimmy then if you need to use magic again you can just weild your staff again and the spell you chose is already selected.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Back on topic i think this is a great idea and ive had problems like that ever since i started mage pking.I normally solved them simply by carrying loads of the runes that i need for the spell as well as tha staff so if im fighting someone and theyre using protect from magic I take out my rune scimmy and pound them with it and if they then use protect from melee ill just use the spells while weilding my rune scimmy so they wont know which prayer to use.

yeah ive tried the rune things...but if some full rune comes up to me with 65+ str.....well if i keep having to click on the mage attack.....well with 1 def they usually hit almost everytime so i get caught up eating and clickin the spell ive died a few times from trying that

thats why u get defence. 1defence is/was a flaw in the combat system. of course im not saying that 1 def is bad, but it disadvantages u so u dont have that leading edge. this is good coz atleast the system is a bit mroe fair (but of course 1def still owns).

Since Rangers don't have to 'Equip' an arrow to their bow to keep firing it, and meleers neither, I think mages should be able to keep the spell on their staff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since mages can't 'wield' their runes like rangers can, I think it's fair enough to give them this so they don't have to waste their food equiping a spell to their staff while getting hit so often because of their crappy robes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is one of the few F2P updates I actually support...

I agree too, but P2P should get it too, and I don't think it should be new staves, just update all the old ones to remember what you had last... or if they only made it P2P (which I don't want, but they hate updating for any one but P2P, heheh, yay) it could like only be the mystic staves.

Uhm...yeah, whatever f2p gets, p2p gets automatically. The only reason people say "X for f2p" or "f2p should get x" is so that all players will benefit.
