Alright, some of you might know me from SOTW #7 which I was close to winning. I've been on the forums for quite a while. I only registered last year but I've been browsing the forums for quite a while. Occasionally posting. I've decided to try and be more active and post more often.

 

 

 

This is my first time I've posted my gallery on Tip.It and a lot of you haven't heard of me. I'm just going to post some of my latest/best work judged from my person opinion. I'll also be posting some notes about the signature if there happen to be any. Also, I only look at tutorials if I'm really stuck or looking to further develop my skills.

 

 

 

Stock/Render

 

 

 

1. Colourless

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notes: My first attempt at this type of style. Made it in a couple of minutes.

 

 

 

2. Bounty Hunter

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notes: Not one of my best IMO. Just one of my latest.

 

 

 

3. Samus Smudge/C4D

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notes: Just a basic smudging and a filtered C4D. I quite like it.

 

 

 

4. Shellshock Smudge

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notes: Stock Smudging. Made it for my brother.

 

 

 

Photo Manipulations

 

 

 

Notes: These aren't really manipulations. Just basic. I'm still new to these.

 

 

 

1. Mountains/Lake Manip

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notes: I made this for SOTW #7 which was apparently worthy of second :

 

 

 

2. Night Light Manip

 

 

 

 

 

 

Notes: I consider this my favourite signature ever.

 

 

 

 

 

That's all I've decided to post. The reason I made this gallery was for people to comment and give me actual C/C. People who know what they're talking about so that I can learn and improve my abilities and in time get better. And yes I can take brutally honest criticism. So long as it's constructive. Oh BTW, numbers 2, 3 and 4 of Stock/Render are up for grabs if anybody wants them. Just PM me.

I like #3, most likely the best one. But not all of them loaded for me.

First I have to say, it's a really nice gallery :, everyone should make these including me.

 

 

 

Heres some quick C/c on the signatures, They're all good except some flaws.

 

 

 

1. I'm sorry to say it looks like 1 render pasted on a couple of C4Ds and then turned into black and white :|.

 

 

 

2. Pretty good smudging here, I think it's weird that you blend around the whole render, should be a part that sticks up in my opinion. Feels over sharpened?

 

 

 

3. Same goes here except you didn't blend in the render at all, This one is also Over sharpened in my opinion?

 

 

 

4. Cool/nice smudging here as well but I think it's weird when you blend in the render you blend around the whole render, it's not really a nice look :|.

 

 

 

Also you need to work on your text a lot, the key is to play around with colour and opacity.

 

 

 

I think the photo manipulations are awesome, I can't give you any C/c on this as I'm a "noob" on photos.

You may need to work on text placement for some. Lower the opacity of it if there is no real place to put it to fit the render and just put it like you have with #4

try out different trpes of borders. Set the layer type to a different setting and scroll through them to see which one looks good :)

Please dont. Borders on different layer modes kill the sig, nothing wrong with a 1 px black anyway.

#1. Not bad.. but not good, either. I believe "render pasted on top of a C4d" would be the proper description. You only spent 5 minutes or so on this? It shows, it really shows..

 

5/10 kittens.

 

 

 

#2. Same thing, except render+smudging. I like the colors though..

 

6/10 kittens.

 

 

 

#3. Better, but that's only because the smudging actually works quite well. It be rather boring, though.

 

6.5 kittens.

 

 

 

#4. Yet another render + smudging, in exactly the same position as #2. Here, however, the smudging doesn't work whatsoever.

 

5/10 kitties.

 

 

 

#5. Best one here, easily. However, it's rather white-washed.. but it seem to work..

 

8/10 kittens.

 

 

 

#6. If this is night, then why it be so bright? The white wash effect doesn't work here..

 

The text is just lovely though.

 

7/10 kitties.

 

 

 

You still need much practice, methinks...

(1) Boring, not much work done and B/W does not suite the signature. Nothing more than a 3D render in the background.

 

 

 

(2) Better, pretty plain though in all honesty. Focal point is kinda boring again. Text could stand to have a better placement, and maybe squeeze the "bounty hunter" text closer together.

 

 

 

(3) It's good, but I just can't help but feel like a lot of the reason I like it is because of the samus image. I mean, it takes up like 85% of the signature space which doesn't leave much to you. The text is fitted poorly as well, top left corner doesn't work well for it.

 

 

 

(4) Probably the worst in the series. While the text is better (ShellShock text is pretty much unreadable though) the attempt of blending the guy is really poor. It lacks depth severely and there just isn't much redeeming to it.

 

 

 

(pm1) It looks good, that's for sure. However I'm usually not a fan of the (fairly cheap) idea of simply putting some post-process effects on a stock image and calling it a manipulation. A manipulation, IMO, should look more than just the image with some fancy effects.

 

 

 

(pm2) more or less same idea as the first. However the text is pretty nice. Of course the sig it's self has a lot going for it just because the stock image is great, I'd love to see an original of it.

Most of these are fairly good (the sigs that is)

 

 

 

C/C

 

1. This looks really bland, the b&w isnt working, no blending going on an the whole thing looks a shamble, your worst of the lot. Try next time making the C4D help blend the render, and maybe not put it into B&W.

 

 

 

2. This isnt great, too much smudging, blending type things going on, the text is quite hard to read and it is wayyyyy to sharp in comparison.

 

 

 

3. The 3rd is quite nice, but again over sharp, too much blending going on and the background isn't working for me. 'Tis better than the rest.

 

 

 

4. At the beginning i quite liked this, although my likeness is getting less and less. Over blended, and the smudging isn't working for it. The text of "shellshock" is also impossibly hard to read.

 

 

 

Because i don't know an inkling about photomanips i'm not gonna C/C them.

First of all. I'd like to thank everybody for commenting. Your criticism is constructive and helpful. So thanks for that :) Now I'd like to answer some comments/questions more specifically.

 

 

 

Uno - I'm not sure what you mean by whitewashed but to answer your question about my 2nd "Manip". It's bright because of the light. Thus, the title is "Night LIGHT". And I do need practice. That remains to everyone obvious. Thanks for your comments though. I'm sure they'll help.

 

 

 

Nadril - Thanks so much for your comments. I've always liked your work. About the "Manips", I did say they were very basic.

 

 

 

Thanks to everyone for commenting. I'll take these into consideration for my future graphics. I'm still trying to find my style :( I really appreciate it.

I currently don't have time to comment on all of them individually, but I think the main things to work on in most of your sigs is blending. You might want to make some of the backgrounds a bit more interesting, too.
