Georgelemmons
Chernobyl is, unfortunately, the reason why we have almost no nuclear power plants in the United States. Nuclear power is one of the most efficient and SAFE ways to produce energy, but because of Chernobyl, many people are afraid of it because they don't know the real facts about it. We have huge numbers of nuclear power plants in the US! Have you ever read your yearly energy report? For me, nuclear plants generate over 20% of my power, the second biggest resource after coal. Thanks to Uno for the awsome sig <

I wouldn't say huge. There are a relatively good number, but still, there could be more. If we could manage the waste. I say let Lenin give his armies super powers with the waste. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

There are not as many power plants as there should be. I also live 30 miles from a Nuclear Power Plant. I'm not saying that there are zero of them, rather that there aren't as many as there were projected to be when the project was started. After the growth of nuclear power in the 1960s, the Atomic Energy Commission anticipated that more than 1,000 reactors would be operating in the United States by 2000. But by the end of the 1970s, it became clear that nuclear power would not grow nearly so dramatically, and more than 120 reactor orders were ultimately cancelled. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power_in_the_United_States 104 out of 1,000 estimated power plants is a little over 10% of what should have been instated. fgfuyfyuiuy0
It's funny how Yucca Mountain is a bunker for nuclear waste. There is a probability of an underground water source beneath it. If the bunker was to overheat and cause barrels to decompose, then it could very well seep into the ground and embed itself in the water. I live in Reno and we get our water from underground sources since we live in a desert and can't get water unless there is snow 24/7. Eerie, really. I <3 Gears of War 2. BlueLancer
I know someone whose sterile because they lived in the surronding area before moving to the United States. Wouldn't be surprised if that's true, some of my family is from eastern Europe, and in some towns about EVERY child born there after about 1986+ has heart problems (even people who aren't genetically linked to each other) and developed tumors at a very early age. It's screwed up because they did nothing to deserve it, but there's no other explanation than nuclear radiation.
