Brand New $3000 Dollar Computer...AND RUNESCAPE STILL LAGS!!

Ok, this is a really major problem. I just bought a brand new Dell 8000 Series Desktop, with 1GB RAM and 3.2GHz processor, which should run top quality games at high speed. Yet, when I log on Runescape, it's super choppy! It runs for about 10 secs, then freezes for 2 secs, then repeats.

The only other thing that could be causing this is my connection, which works fine on Xbox Live. The only questionable part of it is that I am using a wireless adapter...Anyone know what might be causing these problems?

Wow thats wierd. I have a $500 dell and it works fine. :?

Except it lags a lot when theres a flash banned on top so i have to set it to low quality. :x

Probably not your problem though

Woot you can edit again!

Have you tried reinstalling or updating your java?

Two words:

Sun Java

Newer Motherboards are having issues with sun java and apparently no one wants to fix it :?

I had the same issue as you (accept not as good specs) and after about 3 weeks of investigation I had fianlly come to the conclusion that it was sun java. Dun dun dun!!! I downloaded microsoft java VM, and voila, it worked like a charm!

Eurika! Voila! Bunderbar! Qazuenheit! Sa cre bluer! Wee-wee!

Iv stopped buying from dell after i realized that i can get a computer for 1/3 of the price while being 3 times better. 3 grand for a computer...geez. Go on ebay you can get a Dell Precision for about 1/3 that much. A good Alienware for 1/2 as much.

You can be running runescape on Collossus and you will still lag if you have a crappy connection. Consider upgrading your broadband and make sure you have configured sun java (the only secure java, msjava is suseptable to viruses) properly. read the stickies

A refurbished Alienware, which is probably much cheaper, but would still have decent specs. So he had a point.

Key word in the posts you quoted: used. Aka, refurbished, second-hand, etc. etc.

Why the hell was this bumped?

And the guy mentioned just an Alienware, not a refurbished one so get off my case. I obviously forgot to defend myself 6 MONTHS ago when this post was made.
