Captainkidd
I think it's quite interesting, you get to see how objects (in the main playing window) actually look and are handled before textures and propties ect. get added. But yes I can see why its "not working" : ~ Captainkidd

Makoto_the_Phoenix
Something is telling me that it's running/ran out of memory. Post your full specs and the driver that you're using. Perhaps a driver update could help, but at this moment, that can't be said for certain. Which he stated in the original post. That doesn't tell us the OS, processor, and most importantly, the RAM. Good idea to post a screenshot of that window so we could help. ClareJonsson
This happens to me as well, but it's random, sometimes I get that kinda thing, sometimes just a white screen, sometimes full screen mode works, but it only works 10% of the time. I have updated my drivers and tried reducing the graphics levels but it makes no difference. I have put it down to the HD version being in Beta stage. Is there a bug report section for the HD version somewhere? I have a few things to report. [Assist-X]

Makoto_the_Phoenix
So here's my guess. You don't have enough system RAM to be doing high detail. Let's do some quick mathematics. There's a good chance that this is a discreet (separate memory) graphics card, so that's 128MB of memory allocated to it. Next, we factor in the OS - XP, and how much ram it uses idle - 128-192MB. Then, we go into the programs and figure out how much RAM Firefox would use - 45MB. We'll also add in the required amount of memory for RSHD - 256MB. Alright, so outside of the video memory required to run RSHD, your system is using (with only RSHD open) about 493MB of memory. Heaven help you if you're running anything else. Coming in at the bare minimums is guaranteed to not work as well as you thought. Get yourself a couple of gigs of RAM and that problem should disappear. D. V. Devnull
why2060, I'm surprised no one asked the following............ What is your Java Version? (Just so everyone knows... I'm on Java 1.4.2 with a Radeon 9200, and having no trouble... 512 MB of RAM, 128 MB Graphics, and DirectX 9.0B, all on top of WinXP SP1... Only thing I can't do is login to the game with the HD applet because I'm not P2P...) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
