What computer? Programs/tasks to get rid of? Java compiler?

Hello, ;) (Hehe)

First off I need to know which would be the best option, or which one you'd chose:

I'm currently deciding on one of three options, first, selling my Xbox 360 with all my games, controllers, ect. (About $700.00 USD) and using the money along with my "computer fund" ($1,000.00 USD) to buy a iMac 24-inch, that I've read can be upgraded to any graphics card with an adapter, but I'm not sure if it will be able to play games like Call of Duty 4 (Boot camp with Windows XP), second, keep my Xbox 360 and all it's game and buy a MacBook for the cheapest iMac. Finally the third option is to sell my Xbox 360 kinda like the first, but instead of buying an iMac buy an Alienware desktop. Oh, by the way I'm not going to build a computer... I'm just not. -.-

THEN! Because I'm getting a new computer I'm "giving" up my old computer to everyone to use... (Not like there not using it now but...) I wanted to "strip" down the computer so it only has programs and tasks running that it needs, I've gotten rid of everything I can but I'm still left with a list (two actually) that I don't know what to do about. With that said, what programs from this list can be installed and have the computer work 100%.

These are the tasks at startup... Which ones don't I need?

NEXT! (Last one, don't worry! ::' Hehe) I've downloaded the latest JDK (Java's) yet when I search my computer for a "javac" it comes up with nothing... This is seriously pissing me off, I mean what the hell did I download, random files that can't compile java code? Man I wish java was simpler, at least the whole IDE and compiler part...

THANK YOU! So much! I value all and any input, so please because you've read this far spend the extra 10 seconds and post!

um....i think a SS on the "msconfig" window would be more helpful than the task manager for start up items. And uhh...you don't really need anything on startup unless its Microsoft related and AV/ firewall or you know you will be using it every time you start up the computer.

Quit runescape on Jan 6th of 2008, at level of 115 with around 150M worth of item in bank...however stats still remains

If you want to play games like Cod4, you don't get a Mac. Mac's are not meant for games (here comes the Apple fanboys). If you want to play games you need a Windows machine. Macs don't have that good of a graphics card for games if you do use bootcamp also. Although Alienware is equally overpriced.

If you really don't want to build a computer and your on a tight budget of around $1000-1700 then you don't buy an Alienware. For $1000 you could build yourself a moderately high end gaming machine. If not

The programs on your current computer are pretty clean. You have like nothing installed in it. If this thing is moderately new you could put a graphics card in it and play all the games you like (way cheaper).

definately get a PC, the price to performance ratio totally destroys a Mac not to mention the compatibility, and whatever a Mac can do, so can a PC.

Also, if something hardware wise goes wrong in your Mac (even a faulty webcam repair will leave you PC less for a length of time), the whole machine is useless unlike a PC where if something goes wrong, just whip it out and put in a replacement.

Don't get a mac for gaming, just don't. As said, alien ware is a ripoff. If you really don't want to build your own, go to a decent computer parts store, (such as game dude in Australia) give them a budget and they will help you pick out parts, and charge you $60 or so to build it for you. You will end up with much more for your money than if you buy from dell or alien ware.

I've downloaded the latest JDK (Java's) yet when I search my computer for a "javac" it comes up with nothing... This is seriously pissing me off, I mean what the hell did I download, random files that can't compile java code? Man I wish java was simpler, at least the whole IDE and compiler part...

Right click on my computer, properties, advanced, environment variables, and under system variables click path, and then edit. Go to the end of the line and put in ";C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_05\bin" without the quotes. Before you do it, make sure that is in fact the path of your bin folder, different paths need to be separated with a semi colon.

From the looks of that list, you could remove microsoft word, and python,

Else just run a complete system format?

that's what i would do.

if your not using the computer anymore theres no files or anything you have to backup (that you wont have to anyway when switching to your new computer), so i would just reformat. probably quickest and most accurate way of doing it.

also already been said alot, dont buy a mac or alienware (rip off)
