lunchbox456
Karla Homolka was involved with Paul Bernardo in some of the worst and sick sex crimes ever commited in Canada. They had a list of victims, including Karla's sister, Tammi. The way it went, was Karla made herself out to look like the victim, because Paul beat her and Karla filed charges against him, however she was involved in alot of the murders. Karla recieved only a 12-year sentence because she testified against Paul, however Paul was imprisoned for life without parole for 25 years. However, that 12 years is almost up, and Karla's trial is tomorow, I personally do not want her to leave prison, the effects of the murders she commited and took part in are still being felt by the victims familes, honestly I think she should burn in hell. Yes, she may have "served her debt", but she does not deserve to be free, I don't think 12 years is enough to punish her. She should have gotten the same treatment all Paul, life in prison, the grusome murders is enough evidence for that. Anyone been following this? Or have the same thoughts I do? Nathaninch
yeah... it happened in my neighbourhood. Terrified all the parents and young girls in the community. Yes, she should burn in hell. Yes, she should rot in jail. Unfortunately our justice system does not always work that way. :(
Besty
I haven't been following it. However, the Canadian Justice system is quite pathetic, but nothing is perfect. If she is truely guilty, 12 years doesn't suit for the crimes that she commited.
Bmw
Yeah, I think it's terrible that she's being released this week. Thank god she isn't going to live in my city. Even worse, so many people seem so sorry for her, saying help is there is she seeks it. Shes a sick killer, screw helping her! Help the people who really need it, not some sicko killer. Keep her in jail, I feel sorry for the residents of (Montreal is it?) who have to put up with her release. I would probably move.
Bubsa
We have the British equivalent over here called Myra Hindley. It's actually quite shockingly similar to your case. These people are scum and are a danger to society. I don't care if you were influenced to be that way, the fact is you became that way. When does Hindley get released, anyone know? So we can do a comparison of legal systems? This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

I don't feel sorry for her at all and think she should've been away much longer; life. I also had a teacher who talked to her before (she used to be a prison psychologist/counsellor). She said she was a psychopath and worse than Bernardo.

She'd probably die from angry people as soon as she steps out anyway. The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. jak722
can someone please post or pm exactly what has so haynous(sp) about their crimes Ok, I beg anyone who knows better to correct me if im wrong at anything here. See her husband, Paul Bernardo, was a psychopath rapist fellow. He has raped alot of girls before and I think it was near my neighborhood. (wasn't he called the Scarborough rapist too? not sure.) So anyways, Karla was married to him. Paul continued his life and he eventually raped and murdered like 5 schoolgirls was it? before he was caught and put into trial. (HE even filmed the whole thing.) Karla helped him do it. Karla even helped Paul rape and kill her own 15 year old sister. So then they wer caught but they couldn't charge Paul and Karla because of lack of evidence. But unknown to those stupid investigators, there where films hidden in the house and they missed it. So they had to make a deal with Karla to get a sentence on Paul. A plea bargain. (they figured, the lesser of the two evils.) And thats why Karla got a reduced sentence and why she is coming out in the next few weeks. If I stated anything wrong, blame my lack of attention at law class... Pete_the_Viscous
I know this isn't necessariyl true, but I found this, while looking around: She died shortly before the hearing of a case by the Law Lords which is expected to declare that the Home Secretary's power to extend the tariff of prisoners serving life sentences for murder set by the trial judge and the Lord Chief Justice is incompatible with the Human Rights Convention, now embodied in UK law. Such a ruling ought to have ensured that Myra Hindley would have been released within a few weeks or months. I can't find anything that actually says when she would have been released... but a few other sources suggest that she was going to be released "soon", but then she died, obviously. I don't know much about the legal system... but they keep mentioning that she was imprisoned for 20 years... then 30... then for life. Now, usually I gather that life means "so-many-years", but she seemed to have been in for more than that*. *irony alert. deviantart account
Bubsa
That's...very strange. Usually the system works in the opposite direction, as in you get so many years but don't have to serve them all. I wonder what went wrong with her? Probably saw old Lucifer in her eyes. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
