Fix'd.
Fix'd

Fixed.

Just watched the news. Big Sur fire now at 61% containment! But it may not be fully contained until the end of the month. :(

I just read an article on the big sur fire, and clicked on this thread to post some info on the fire, but looks like you beat me to it.

(P.S., how come you "fixed" fix'd"?!) :ohnoes: :ohnoes:

P.P.S. You're a person of higher authority, right? Is there anyway you can get the admins to let more than 3 quotes be embeded within each other? Because as you can see, I have to create 2 quotes now.

I have not been affected but my mom is paranoid. We live in a "high fire risk" area (in addition to earthquakes because we're right smack on the San Andreas Fault) so my mom is constantly running around saying, "OMG I SMELL SMOKE! ARE THE FIRES HERE!?!?!?!"

Little news i found today in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Yosemite.

[hide=Fire 12 miles away from Yosemite]

07-28) 11:45 PDT MIDPINES, MARIPOSA COUNTY -- Firefighters hampered by hot, dry weather and struggling on rugged terrain made little progress overnight in their attempt to contain a 26,000-acre wildfire near Yosemite Valley, fire officials said this morning.

The Telegraph Fire remained at 10 percent containment as of 7 a.m., said Suzanne Grin of the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The fire, which was started Friday by someone who was target shooting, is burning about 12 miles west of Yosemite, just northwest of the small town of Midpines (Mariposa County). It has destroyed 12 residences and 27 outbuildings, Grin said.

The fire is east of Highway 49 and north of Highway 140. Both highways remained open Monday morning as the fire moved north toward Coulterville and the Sierra and Stanislaus national forests, officials said.

About 2,000 residences in the communities of Midpines, Briceburg, Mariposa, Greenley Hill, Coulterville, Bear Valley and Mount Bullion Camp are threatened by the blaze.

There was no official count on the number of people evacuated from the area. A voluntary evacuation is in place around Midpines.

People living in the communities east of North Highway 49 at Mykleoaks Road, south to the Highway 140 junction, and communities west of Highway 140 from Mariposa north to Briceburg, have been warned that they might have to leave.

The fire is burning in an area with many steep canyons, making it hard to firefighters to get to the flames, Grin said. Temperatures today are expected to climb into the mid-90s, and the humidity at 11:30 a.m. was 25 percent.

The fire is being fought by 2,500 firefighters, backed up by four helicopters, six air tankers, 46 bulldozers, 268 fire engines and 30 water tenders.

[/hide]

I live no where near that but, it sad to see a town threatened but 3 towns? I also heard 1 million acres have burned already, and its not even half way through fire season...

The Yosemite situation is definitely not good since that area hasn't burned in so long... I was just up there two years ago too two years and a day ago. :| Was hot, but fortunately no dry lightning strikes then. Hopefully the firefighters get a handle on this soon...

No smoke in the Bay Area thankfully. Just a lot of fog just sitting there. :| Two days ago it was warm too and now it's cold. :wall:
