Grand Exchange syndrome

Buy 10 at a time, so you don't end up with oodles of them, and you see lots of green bars. Alternatively, you can put in six offers for one each, and see six green bars in your "Collect Grand Exchange Items from a Banker" window ;).

I have a problem...when I buy raw materials like fish or ores from the GE, I have a tendency to buy lots of it. For example, I need 500 coal, and once I buy it, I put in an order for another 500. I dont know why but it is fun to see the bar go green. Pretty soon I max out by buying 25k coal.

I dont know what to do. Today I bought 800 swordies for 86 cooking. But within an hour I had 20k in the bank.

Anyone else have this problem? Or how can I get rid of this problem?

get control over yourself and stop buying?

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

You might have a minor OCD, which really isn't a big deal. If you're in a store trying to decide if you can afford something that's probably you just being sensible. If your you're racking your brain debating a small purchase that's the obsessive bit. In game, you may obsess over the joy of successfully making a purchase.

Only thing that really helps is forcing yourself to ignore the impulse to do something. I recommend the same thing for both life and game. Only carry what cash you actually feel like spending and remind yourself that's it free to burn. In game; keep your GP in the bank and pull out as close to exactly what you'd need for your purchase. I haven't bought coal since it was about 180 GP each, so if that's still an accurate number then pull 90K GP and not a coin more.

It's all about discipline. You don't have a disease or need to fear casinos. Like most things in life, you'll just have to practice.

Not a problem for me, the progress bar doesn't even show up for me

Just buy what you need, think of it as going shopping. If you need 1 bag of potatoes, you don't buy 100 bags just because you like the scanner going "beep" when the item passes through it.
